Don't forget Bayonetta 3, Luigi's Mansion 3, Metroid Prime 4 (which was delayed) and the big one, Animal Crossing, which is slated for this year.
And E3 is in a month. The only reason they're doing a direct for this is because they want to be able to market it better. The game comes out two weeks after E3, meaning everything should already be made known so that marketing doesn't spoil anything. That, and a significant focus on MM2 in E3 would probably let a lot of people down.

An RPG maker? I doubt it. It would either be very barebones or far too complicated for any normalfag.
The big one I'd expect is Zelda Maker, with styles for Zelda 1, LttP, LADX and probably something like an upscaled LBW. It would be far more complex, but perhaps they could give the option to either design a single dungeon or a full overworld with dungeons.

They would have announced it. It'll be DLC. The only question is, will it be free or paid. Mario Maker 1 had some free DLC in special costumes. But I doubt a game style would be free.
What game would it be? Mario Land 2 seems like the logical choice, though I remember the designers mentioning for MM1 that "we may have styles other than Mario", so it might be based on LoZ, or probably some other Nintendo platformer.

It might be nostalgia but I prefer the NES esthetics over the art design of Mario All Stars. Plus iirc (I could be wrong on this) there a subtle physics differences between the versions that make All Stars feel a bit off if you are accustomed to playing the classic game. It's not a bad port and I loved it back in the day but I prefer the originals. That said, it would be cool if MM2 allowed you to chose the art style even if its remains in the particular game subcategory similarly to how night and day function.
