Game's too scripted, and the emphasis on """realism""" isn't fun, its tedious. Also I'm not sure what the fuck they were thinking but the shooting mechanics are legitimately worse than the shooting in the original Red Dead Redemption. RDR1 had almost perfect gunplay, the guns just needed some more oomph and impact to them. You could run and gun and the aiming was snappy and clean. But in Red Dead 2 the aiming is clunky and they have this retarded, abhorrent system where you have to wait for your guy to stabilize his shaky ass hands if you want the bullets to go where you're aiming. It feels like Arthur Morgan has Parkinson's or something. It's fucking stupid and it punishes the player for trying to be a quickdraw cowboy. I don't wanna use the shoddy cover mechanic and take 5 seconds to kill one enemy before going back into cover. That's not fun. There's no fluidity to that, it turns combat into a chore. This entire game is a chore. I don't want to eat beans and wash my horses's shitty asshole every 20 minutes. No I don't wanna put on a jacket if I go into the Mountains. The fact that GTA5 has no vigilante missions alone makes it one of the biggest disappointment, I go further and call it shit even, though I'd change my mind if most of the content like vehicles was available in singleplayer. Vigilante missions were great, probably my favorite missions of all time, especially in GTA4 which has great shooting. I wish there was cop outfit in 4 though.

Also they did almost perfect cops in 4, you can escape them even on the highest wanted level and they're not as scripted as in 5, so you can fight them back and win against them because they don't cheat, not to mention gunplay and other huge improvements to the gameplay. This is where "realism" was done absolutely right. The driving was good too, you need to have a skill not just to fly well but also to drive, mastering driving and flying was quite rewarding, in online for one it mattered a lot, the most skillful player can easily kill anyone or win a race no matter how fast your opponent's vehicle is. GTA5 online is a shitshow, it is so casual that almost every plane or helicopter have aim-assist weaponry like homing missiles which you can spam so your opponent won't be able to avoid attack, not even dogfights are possible there. In SA hydra with homing missiles wasn't as cheating and you could beat the shit out of hydra with an old aircraft pretty easily in a dogfight while dodging missiles with no problem.

A perfect GTA game would be like SA with GTA4 physics and mechanics, big emphasis on shooting though. As for story, GTA5 suck big balls there the most, probably the worst story in GTA games. GTA3 which was kind of a tech demo, where the focus was open world, had way better story than this piece of shit. Story-wise 4 wasn't as bad, the only thing I hated is that "choices matters" was absolute bullshit, especially in the ending where the only meaningful difference was the death of your brother if we don't speak of mission itself, that's fucking it. Meanwhile in both cases you still lose your Irish girlfriend: either she dies and you can't date her or she becomes pissed off and still don't date you. The concept to have a Slavic war veteran was pretty interesting, it made me very interested in Yugoslavia wars.

I loved the hunting grounds in rdr1 with it being expanded on even better in 2 bar one major flaw. You cant carry anything more than a couple of birds, a deer and an animal skin or two making upgrading your camp a real fucking chore to get the right animal carcass, carry it one at a time from across the fuck huge world map. Rdr1 had a far more fun hunting system. Also when you ride the stagecoach or train it just skips to your destination, i dont mind having the option to skip the journey but i legit wanted to ride the train, look out the window at the scenery, and relax. The horse retrieval system is also more 'realistic' now, gone being able to whistle for your horse wherever you are outside but the horse has to be in range, which again wouldn't be so bad but the map is huge, you run slower than a fat cunt with asthma, each town and even road to steal a horse from can be miles from your location. It's tedious.

The most glaring issue i had with the game, the complete inconsistency of the wanted system. It tells you if you cover your face with a bandana or mask then it's harder for the law to catch and recognize you when you commit skullduggery. That you might be seen but if you get away successfully while having hidden your identity you wont get a bounty. Because the bounty system can cause entire towns or parts of the map to go in lockdown if you cause too much trouble you'd think, trying to be a smart crim would be rewarded. BULLSHIT! It didnt matter if i wore a mask or bandana or not, changed my clothes and horse or not, the law npc's always ALWAYS knew who was committing a crime and my exact location, even if i had robbed one single person at their camp, in the wilderness, tied them up or killed them, left no witnesses 80% of the time i'd them become wanted. Fuck this game, if you want to play a good, fun, interesting cowboy themed game play RdR1, 2 has amazing visuals and world building but the actual gameplay is hot garbage.

The main protagonist is alright but it's more Dutch and the gang around one is interested in.

The walking speed is really slow because of muh realism, there is allot of build up and the game does not really start before chapter 3 or something and the most fun is when you are fucking around in the world when you can forgive the slow walking speed which is kinda hard since it's so god damn slow.
