I like the whole idea of converting my PS3 Controller to Xinput and playing it on my PC effortlessly, but the original project hasn't been maintained in over 3 Years.

Is anyone planning on improving it or forking it? If so, these are the only versions of it still lingering around:

https://github.com/nefarius/ScpToolkit

https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInput-Wrapper-for-DS3-and-Play-com-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller

Or might you suggest better alternatives to it…

I think that most people just use Steam

e59f5d  No.16379005

If you like it or not, but Steam is the best input wrapper available at the moment.

The problem with the Steam wrapper is that you have to be running stuff through Steam to get it to work. At least, last time I tried you did. Honestly, I've had much better luck with DS4Windows that just flat out emulates the 360 controller using DS4 input - and pretty much everything still supports 360 controllers. The only game I have to disable it for is some of the newer indies like Fightin Rage.

Maybe it's because I'm using a Gen 2 DS4 on the PS4, and my PS4's DS is Gen 1 - but the battery life on my PC DS4 is significantly longer, and helped by being able to turn off that stupid fucking lightbar. Also, using the track-pad as a mouse is handy for basic navigation, but it takes getting used to.

>Maybe it's because I'm using a Gen 2 DS4 on the PS4, and my PS4's DS is Gen 1

Fuck I'm stupid

Gen 2 DS4 is on the PC - and it's battery life is around 8 hours.

Gen 1 DS4 is on the PS4 - and it's battery life is around 3.5 hours.

1052ea  No.16379290

For DS3 just get this and follow the instructions instead of using SCPToolkit

https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Controller:DualShock_3#PS3_Controller_on_Windows_.28Wired.2C_unofficial_drivers.29

It also has a fork of LilyPad that let's you use pressure-sensitive buttons.

For DS4 get this fork of DS4Windows, since the original is abandoned

It's literally only the light, the amount of power it eats is just stupid.

>The problem with the Steam wrapper is that you have to be running stuff through Steam to get it to work.

True but I can live with that, last time I tried ScpMemekit, it made my controller completely unusable and I had to uninstall the program as well as my controller drivers. For some reason Windows also doesn't detect my Gen 1 or my Gen 2 DS4's inputs, it recognizes them as a controller but that's it.

6d252b  No.16379513

I have an actual PC controller and have to use this for 90% of games.

https://x360ce.com/

Works great though.

I still use scp on my two computers and it works fine. I also tried doing it through steam when I was stuck with another computer, took slightly longer to configure but worked just as well.

It probably never will because it works well enough for now and Nefarius is too retarded to actually do anything usable with whatever clusterfuck he's involved with nowadays

I would just use them since it works well enough. Some parts of the DS3 is way better than the DS4, especially if you're going to use PCSX2

eadbdb  No.16380322

Scptoolkit is alright but I've come across a glitch where restarting my PC will cause the service not to properly start, a lot of suggestions I've come across online say to set to "Automatic (Delay)" but a way more reliable way (Never had it fail) is to tell windows to try and start the service again if it fails.

You imply that he's competent enough to do that in the first place, which is wrong.

The SCP drivers in general use a local network loop for some things so it can do weird looking things with hostfile blocking if you set your host block list to 127.0.0.1

what's the issue? shit still works, and better than any "revival" stillbirths that can't even implement basic features 2 years later and are much more bloated.

>>16381610

yes, but here's the rub: game with playstation prompts usually switch prompts on their own when they detect a directinput device (since the ds4 driver has no xinput support), when you run a wrapper the game thinks it's a xbox pad and shows xbox prompts.

ofc the clever thing would be just use directinput since the game supports it by default, but thanks to microsoft pushing castrated xinput, directinput doesn't work wirelessly via bluetooth.

unless the game allows you to select prompts independently (like GR wildlands) those are your options:

- cable with ps prompts

- wireless with xbox prompts

to add even more fun directinput doesn't support rumble either unless the devs specifically includes it (most don't). again, thanks to microsoft, directinput itself support it's (with more features as well).

the horsefucker who made ScpToolkit moved on to ViGEm

from: https://forums.vigem.org/topic/252/here-is-the-news

>ScpToolkit is not a device driver. I know it get called that all the time - even by myself - but it isn't. It's a giant C# program that does many… things

ScpToolkit is a hacked-together piece of shit, which does what you want but not properly

ViGEm fixes that, but is harder to make, and is a more general application for multiple controllers. Here's the repo:

https://github.com/ViGEm/ViGEmBus

I haven't tried it myself, since I just deal with a version of ScpToolkit which works well enough on my setup. But that's where the "supported version" is.

be1362  No.16382296

>>16382229

>it doesn't fix shit

It's still in alpha, it potentially fixes everything, but the lead dev needs to learn how Windows kernel drivers work. Implementing something not hacked-together on an OS that is hacked-together is hard.

>makes it even worse

Of course, it's only in a proof-of-concept stage. He even says on the blog:

>current development is once again happening in secret on private Git repositories and will be released when considered really stable. It's too dangerous to throw out flawed kernel drivers

I should've clarified in my first post that this doesn't replace ScpToolkit right now, but will in the near future.

5c0f98  No.16382334

>>16382296

Unless he seriously fixes his shit I don't see it being usable in any regular capacity anytime soon.

The fact that the same bug he introduced when forking SCPdriver into SCPtoolkit are cropping up in an entirely separate project made from scratch (namely driver inexplicably self combust when used and hoards all the resources to itself for no apparent reason) and the constant state of absolute clusterfuck anything he's touched has been for years shows me that he doesn't have the capabilities to achieve what he wants to achieve right now, doesn't mean I don't see the potential or wouldn't appreciate him getting his shit together I just don't see it happening.

The original SCP driver has better stability and less bloat (by virtue of not using that abomination of a control panel and just using very basic GUIs for everything and not deciding to spam you with desktop notifications for no goddamn reason), Toolkit has an alarmingly high rate of completely broken installation and weird issues especially on preWin10 systems

That and the half finished project to have some form of support for chink clones and 3rd party controllers some of which actually had better support in the old SCP driver
