Google has over 75% of the search engine and browser market shares. The next closest ones respectively are Bing and Firefox, with 8% in their respective markets.
Chrome might not be a monopoly by the strict dictionary definition, but it is an effective one.
If your site isn't listed on google, its usually a death knell for it unless you never planned for it to grow anyways.

Steam does not sabotage game functionality, making your product less desirable, in order to squeeze a few extra bucks out of their customers. Nor have they ever charged developers just to patch their games like Microsoft used to. The thing is, Valve never chased exclusive deals with third party developers to the best of my knowledge. They didn't operate as a monopoly, because they always saw themselves as being in competition with Microsoft and Sony for your entertainment dollar - so the Steam platform ended up with a lot of the same features, services, and a focus on promoting social engagement.
EPIC isn't willing to do any of that. They're not competing by using that Fortnite money to build up their platform and offering the customer better prices or better services. They're just paying to buy up high profile games and make them exclusive. Valve is still trying to compete with consoles. Epic is just concerned with undermining Valve.

Absolutely not. Competition means consumers have a choice, and the best choice wins. This is true. Was talking to a friend recently who's hype for BL3 since he's a big fan of the series. He tried to talk me into getting it so we could play co-op, and I explained why - even if I wanted to play it (and I don't), I wouldn't buy it from Epic. He kind of agree'd that Epic was shit, but then suggested I just download some Corsair front-end program that categorizes your games and auto-manages launchers.
Everything I had I said to him just went in one ear and out the other - and the only thing he managed to take away from it was something vague about fragmenting the market with exclusives which turned into "I don't want to have to deal with another launcher". You can't filter out early access or VR titles, too many blanket tags like "female protagonist" or "Good Soundtrack" recommending something like Crosscode if you wanted something like Bleed or Mirror's Edge, the popular new releases section has no metric(if it's a new release, how else is it going to be popular unless it's AAA?), can't filter out multiple tags conveniently, can filter ranges for user score, release date, having update patch notes in the same terribly laid out news tab which could include an announcement for the developer's new game, news articles about the game, news for a sale, some charity niggerdry or anything in between. I have no doubt Epic Games Shit is probably just as bad, but it angers me to no end that this is what this fucking furnigger has for complaints and he's a streamer so impressionable kids would probably listen to him and go "yeah I totally used those things, Epic bad, Steam good!".

What even are key selling websites that buy keys from devs. The funny thing about EGS is that 12% and 5% cuts are not sustainable which is why they charge customers a conversion fee and all games are priced in USD only. There's basically no customer support but the policy aren't any worse than what you'd see pretty much anywhere else, even the stores I'd argue are better have pretty fucking shit policies in some cases (GOG refunds and handling of who gets on hte store, itch.io and "if you offend us you get banned" policy.)

Forums were already a cesspool, valve employee have no specific business being in individual game forum unless they're players too, devs are active in some game community discussion it's up to them to choose how they engage the community and they have no obligations towards you.

Opt out, still affects the overall score and even if you haven't opted out the thing warns you there's a review bomb in progress, not that the discussion won't be spammed to death by people anyways.
