Some of the units you use in Door Kickers use photos of the people who kickstarted the game. I honestly see no problem with the way it was done, some of the photos look kind of weird because the head is either slightly small/big for the body or gear, but otherwise its fine, I would have never noticed this if I hadn't read it somewhere in their website. Also, the pictures are (if I recall correctly) only ever shown in the unit selction menu, and not during gameplay when you are going through a mission, so it's not at all 'on your face' like these >>16352804 abominations of donut steel.

Nice trips.
I played it through to the end and enjoyed it. It is a fairly faithful recreation of Classic BattleTech in a computer format and the different Mechs are fun to use. The decisions you get to make in random events while travelling can sometimes be fun, and since the game is about being a band of mercenaries the game generally doesn't slap your wrist for being an asshole too much like many other RPGs. Unlike those earlier games which are very streamlined versions of Shadowrun, this game at least represents almost all of the CBT mechanics to some degree. The only thing I would really want to see is infantry, AeroTech and BAs. Some of the missions were a bit inconsistent in difficulty when I played through the first time, but it has been patched a lot since then, and when I looked at the notes they seemed to have addressed that although I didn't do another playthrough as of yet.

Really it's the perfect example of why Kickstarters are almost always fucking terrible for games when they allow creative input from backers. Even at the tamest end of things like Undertale where you have that disgusting faggot's character hidden away like a turd tucked under a sofa cushion, it's still just not worth the money to have that shit tarnish your product. Especially when you get to the extreme end of it with Duncan. The only people who will dedicate that much money to reach those tiers are the lowest, most autistic scum. Normal people with proper understanding of what is and isn't appropriate to contribute don't spend that much money on game concepts. The only people who are willing to drop that much are invariably autistic, degenerate, demanding, or all three. They WILL put their autism into your game and they WILL use it to try to lever a foothold in and ruin everything. If you're lucky they'll simple be satisfied at befouling your project with their presence and making sure nobody ever forgets that they've done so.
Take these people's money, give them rewards, but don't EVER let them give a serious degree of input to your game. Undertale was probably the best, including them as a lighthearted post-endgame finale minigame while the triumphant good-end music plays over the credits rolling. It plays like a conventional Shmup where you have to avoid their names as they move in danmaku-like patterns. The game had a bonus if you won but no real consequence for losing, so you could chill out and ignore it if you wanted.

I won't bog you down with the details but here's what's terrible about this game and why I just wish it wasn't:
- The training mode. Originally the devs tried to sell this game as a great introduction to fighting games in general with an in-depth look into how to actually perform certain mechanics like dragon punches which require a little more time for beginners to learn. Mind you, they even had a nigger and a wigger make an entire hip hop song with stolen assets just to drive home how important a feature it was gonna be. The end result however is a worse copy of Blazblue's tutorial (I think). They teach you some fundamentals, sure, but they don't really give you any good indication for the timing or any guidance on how to perform the moves more efficiently. In addition, the timing for some of the moves are super tight, meaning that you either already trained yourself to perform them - making the tutorial useless - or just skip them and map them to some macro or something;
- The Story. Alex Ahad, the 56% pajeet artist who's way into hourglass figures and guro, is the truest victim of all of this. He had in mind some really clichè (but the good kind) grimdark anime story that he really wanted to explore in a fighting game setting, with each character having their own journey to achieve their one true wish, plenty of downright depressing back story and overall a tone that is different from the usual anime fighter. But obviously no, that shit won't fly for the special snowflakes at Lab0, hence they went ahead and reworked the entire story to fit with jaypegs talking to other jaypegs about gaining friends and overall leaving the whole story unfinished. And by that I mean, even after so many patches Lab0 failed to deliver a complete storyline, because that would require additional funding that they couldn't secure with their fighting game - that's the whole point of making Indivisible, though I'm not even sure how they managed to get through funding;
- The Characters. Rather, the lack of them. Originally, as you may infer from the title, this game was meant to be a female-only fighting game, yaddayadda you know the drill: money being mismanaged, with most of it being routed to overpriced voice actors and to get a similarly pricy Castlevania composer who didn't really add much to the tone of the game barring menu themes and two levels, their Sanfran accomodation etc. But the icing on the cake has got to be the kikestarter to add new characters. Highlights include:
>adding males for no reason other than "the designs look cool and we want the fujoshi audience"
>asking people to choose from a ton of different characters, which meant that they themselves had no idea how to implement half the stuff and it came to bite them in the ass, as Eliza (the edgyptian skeleton broad) had an entire mechanic cut because the devs couldn't optimize it without breaking the game, meaning that part of the reason why people voted her in got deleted
>they had a tiered voting option, always a good idea when money's on the line, basically they would cut down characters as the voting process went on, which meant a lot of people lobbying to get some characters in out of spite from having their own pick removed rather than having a fair competition among them - a competition that should not have been in there in the first place as it meant they had no real vision for the new characters
>people pulled out of the funding once they found out their own characters weren't going to be in, which Kikestarter allowed and gave plenty of headaches to the dev team
>there's reason to believe that they even falsified the second vote to avoid having a situation similar to Eliza's, with Beowulf's VA being contacted ahead of time and work on him being much quicker than Eliza's - meaning the poll was just a sham
Overall, all the characters introduced didn't add anything to the plot or the world. By Ahad's admission though he appreciated Eliza being added in so he could draw more smut;

He overestimates his importance in the FGC and got assblasted when he can't even direct a good charity campaign. He's the person who thought that Skullgirls could compete with Melee's fanbase. I still fondly remember how he would go around EVO begging people to play his game, IIRC a livestream of him playing with the same 4-5 autists on loop is available online.
-The Combo Game itself: absolutely disgusting, for the biggest part of its lifecycle all online interactions were 2v2 trying to get first strike on the opponent. Afterwards, it was just a matter of when the input lag would strike. The anti-infinite maneuver works against the person using it, since it kicks in way too late for the 30 seconds combos to stop. Add to that the super annoying voices (because of course they can't just grunt and groan, they have to spout memes constantly) and monolithic cast of 8 characters on release, 14 with all the dlc (which admittedly was nice of them to set it free for the first month of release) with 2 clones and a character that is unused assets as its main gimmick and online gets old quickly. 1v1 is the only way to experience the game without it becoming a bore since you can't just quasi-infinite your enemy on the first touch.
- The community, and the kind of faggots who spend hundreds of dollars to get their OCs in game, I already posted them over there but just go around the Wikia for this game and check out those monstrosities.
And what kills me a lot is that the game looked beautiful for when it was scheduled to come out, the gimmick of having hand drawn frames was awesome, the cheesecake was just right and in all the ways someone may have wanted it, it's just fucking SanFran, man. It does things to people. Had they just concentrated on being a fun multiplayer experience without shying away from the lewds aspects and kept the all-female cast with no-names voice actors, it would have been a cult classic.

There's another side to this story: according to the devs, they were set to receive double the money they would have gotten from the IGG campaign to finish the game, if it got funded in the first place. I heard rumors of KikeZ himself pulling some strings to get loans to finish the funding, and then it snowballed with people becoming hopeful it would be a legit thing.

When a person watches a movie, they'll want the acting to be delivered in a skillful enough way to be entertained, to be immersed. This requires deceit so people can focus on the characters, and not the actors themselves.

If you look at a film or anything through a camera and look at real life with your own eyes, there's a massive difference. The special effects and processing that footage goes through is primarily for an aesthetic ideal even if both has a high amount of detail that people conflate with realism.
