What are some good, yet affordable emulation options? I want something that can handle up to a ps1 with a button layout that can work with everything that came before it.

I’d use my Vita but last time I tried to hack it Sony’s horrible drivers almost fucked my pc up.

*PORTABLE emulation options that is

You went too far with the vita, psp has a shitton of emulatable stuff. http://wololo.net/emulators-for-the-psp-ps-vita-the-ultimate-download-list/

dfe80d  No.16330259

How can you be this incompetent at hacking? The Vita is possibly the easiest handheld in the world to CFW

f6ef28  No.16330265

All these Android and Loonix arm handhelds are shit because they have nothing except emulators that are usually unoptimized. I would reccomend the Vita as everyone else has. PSP is also an option if you want to do PS1 but not N64.

The quick and easy answer would be to homebrew a first gen Switch since it can handle most PS1 games. As for "affordable", you're going to have to pick it up second hand. They usually go for around $250.

53953d  No.16330302

If you're competent with computer hardware, a small case or Raspberry Pi style machine, two USB controllers of your choice and an HDMI cable in a small bag. If you're going somewhere without HDMI displays then do something other than play video games for once.

You don't need to plug in your vita to install henkaku. If you need to transfer files, FTP works fine, but in any case that's very weird

I'll give it another go and let you guys know the results, but yeah, it was a weird issue. My computer just doesn't seem to want to recognize the vita for some reason or another.

>>16330302

My friend actually gave me his old Pi 2 and 3d printed a little nintendo case for it, there are a few kits being sold where you can make it handheld, but either they don't have enough buttons, cost an arm and a leg, don't work with the 2, or they are beyond my tech knowledge.

I'm not saying use a custom case, just use a regular case and carry around a tiny desktop PC.

OP If drivers are dodgy, just use a virtual machine next time.

I can vouch for the Vita being the best option for emulation in actual portable form. Havent encountered any issues with GB/GBC and Mega Drive stuff, SNES has been pretty good (I use the retroarch core snesx2005 by default, although sometimes the 2002 core will be more suited for certain games like Mario RPG or Yoshi's Island). GBA has random sound-related problems in most games which I hope they'll be fixed soon. PS1 emulation is also pretty good, but as long as you stay within the official eboots (which covers 3/4 of the PS1 library at least although it tends to miss out some obvious titles like Tail Concerto or Wipeout 3) because it gets tricky otherwise. PSP vidya is also fully compatible.

The Vita isnt made to be recognized on Windows by default until you install a middleman program (in this instance QCMA instead of the more limited official Sony program). Once it's hacked, the Vita can be recognized as an actual peripheral.

ac6c74  No.16330438

>>16330414

>QCMA

But molecular/vitashell has the option to transfer by USB without that shit software now

>>16330414

SNES 2005 PLUS has the best sound and works fine when you overclock your vita using LOLIcon.GBA is also good when overclocked, and I've only experienced slowdown with 3d renders in games.

ALL PSP (duh)

ALL NES (maybe there's a few fucky ones but generally)

ALL GB/C

I THINK LIKE 1 DS KINDA

BOOTLEG MINECRAFT

and much more, but I don't do anything else with it myself

7541ba  No.16331692

fucking got it. Had to jump through several hoops to get my pc to recognize the vita with QCMA, but I've got retroarch installed on there and just have to throw a game or two on there to test it out and make sure it works. Man am I happy.

Make sure to install adrenaline and PKGJ as well as enso, those are basically all vital if you want to make the best use of your Vita; use jewtube tutorials if you need help as they're not bad

c93b90  No.16331739

>>16331701

Yeah it is, in some cases you don't even need to hook up the vita to a computer to transfer files.

>3.60

Go to a certain website with the vita's browser and press install, congratulations your vita is hacked and has the essential programs needed to function (CFW, molecularshell, vitashell), if you want a permanent hack (enso) you'll have to either visit another website to install it from the browser or FTP it to the vita and install it manually with vitashell.

>3.65

Mostly the same shit, except enso can't be gotten from the browser.

>3.68

Download finalHE on your computer and run the program, link a dummy PSN account to the vita and install QCMA drivers, hook up the vita when finalHE tells you and run the app on your vita, now you have CFW, unfortunately it can't be made permanent, however now that you have CFW you can downgrade to 3.60 and install enso.

gotcha, I'll do that here in a bit, thanks!
