Thought up a couple suggestions from my botany shifts: add a low metabolism THC chemical found in marijuana that does some stuff, because any type of weed, no matter how potent, does absolutely nothing when smoked. This is an issue with how smoking works, you inhale chemicals far too slowly and drugs get fully metabolized before they have any effect, so only slow metabolism chemicals like nicotine really work.

I am the anon in question, and nu-code won't load it I think. I tried it in the last thread and Dream Maker just outright refused when using the Nu-folder. If I can't somehow copy and paste the tiles between files then I might make an Iuncus 2.0 that's less ambitious. Does Nu-TG code have stairs like CEV-Eris? Great round. I got to fuck around in new cargonia and learn the systems, and actually try and fill orders. It felt like I gave other departments something to do. I'm really looking forward to the last of these bugs getting worked out so we can all enjoy ourselves like we probably did that round.

There is an absorption rate for drugs in smoking, IIRC you intake about less than half a unit per cycle, which is a couple seconds. The issue is that that's too low for any narcotic, save for nicotine, to have any effect. Perhaps it could be mitigated by increasing the intake amount while also increasing the time it takes to absorb that amount.

If possible, get the metabolism rate of that particular chemical. Then make the absorption rate for that instance of smoking twice the metabolism rate of it (and of the longest chemical if multiple). If the code removes (metabolizes) after it goes into your body then technically you would get half of the max dose in the stick, I guess. Should also add the ability for CO2 in the air to pick up random chemicals and add it to itself, distributing the drug amounts to nearby cells with CO2 equally. That way toxins, chemistry, and atmos can meme and fill the station with weed gas going through the distro loop.

Rework botany so you need to actually be smart with how you grow plants but not so fucking slow that you wont get anything till the end of the round. The two extremes ends and there needs to be something in the middle:

I used MuseScore to re-compose the piece and then converted it from midi to notes using the tool in the base tgstation folder (midi2piano).

It works alright, but struggles with very short notes, picking the correct BPM, and multiple voices.

If you have a midi already I still recommend using MuseScore to implode any extra instruments to a single piano treble voice and simplify the notes by hand, at least until it sounds about right.

I guess. For a game like SS13, where a lot of the 'fun' kind of peters out if you're too robust, I think Roleplaying can extended the enjoyment of it. Going out and making busy work, or doing patrols and doing make believe for solving a murder mystery, or acting like you care about doing your job. I think that can be more fun than murder-boning the whole station, or making a lot of drugs and ruining the round for people in Chemistry. Building a really big engine in Engineering is cool, but unless you really care about powering a system like shields or something, It is kind of pointless. Is SS13 a game you actually like, or is it just something you do to beat people up? I like the whole aspect of the playing like i'm on a space station, and doing my job, and reacting to the events on the station and doing that make believe stuff.

Well thats just it, I don't mind menial tasks and the general immersion. Playing pretend and making myself be some sort of cardboard cutout according to some inane set of guidelines is whatbothers me. I also just don't like the flat as hell characters people make when they roleplay. They always have some sort of boring as hell civvie role that can't lift a finger without breaking some sort of code of roleplay conduct that absolutely destroys any sort of immersion.

I played on roleplay servers for mmos for a long as hell time and it was the same thing every time; god mode or monotony.

Sounds like you hate bad roleplayers, more than roleplay itself. I think if you can train new people to play roles effectively, or make it so we all have interesting characters, it's a lot better. I like to think the stations of SS13 are kind of the Shit holes, where only the most extreme, or down on their luck or willing to put themselves at risk go. So that in the event of something like all of Security being murdered, or a murder spree going on, they'll follow some guidelines or something, maybe the Hide-evade-eliminate routine or something. I know a lot of people have trouble being creative, but it's something you can teach people. When I'm making characters, instead of inane guidelines, i generally have them be limitations. If I could make myself God that's boring, but same as if I was some bad ass who trains with guns all the time. Trying to make a 'regular' person, who isn't just a boring NPC-tier person, but also has realish responses to stressors or situations is hard, but I think it can be rewarding.

It does suck when some assisstant on the station walks around complaining about robusting, or fights back against security without really having an in character reason other than 'FUCK DA POLICE." But that's a hard balance between IC and game mechanix

Do you mean the Necromorphs that take over bodies to attack you, the Marker that brainwashes people, the multiple mining\engineering tools adapted to combat or exploring a ravaged area that used to be civilized?

Because there's no Necromorphs or anything similar to them, the Marker is in the Gateway (sometimes), there's a single mining tool that could be taken from Deadspace, the RIG Suit is Engineering and not Mining (they get a different variant) and the asteroid isn't a former station\ship.

Mining as it were was closer to Metroid Prime than Dead Space of all things, with multiple monsters and health sponges slowing your progress to unearth suit upgrades.

Technicallly, there's a difference. Dust Liggers have their limitations and are outside the station, unable to interfere with the round. Posibrains and similar solutions are turned into Cyborgs, not humans. You don't get a reliable way to put someone back into the round as they were at round start unless it's some IC thing like Cloning.

If Respawning was allowed for instance, you could have a traitor victim to respawn as someone else. But would he be able to restrain himself and not act on his meta knowledge? Not go after the traitor, not warn anyone, not even fidgeting when in the same room as someone he knows to be a traitor from his past life? Probably not, which is why human respawning doesn't really work very well.

I'm of the opinion that respawning as a different human should be allowed when your ghost is at least 15-20 minutes old (or some other configurable time), not only letting players rejoin a game after dying to bullshit reasons but also putting some pressure on traitors once they start killing someone and preventing them from dragging the game for too long.

This might have some unintended consequences since it makes direct murders a bad strategy unless you're able to call the shuttle in less than 10 minutes past the first murder, but on the other hand it makes undirect murder by poison or sabotage more interesting since it doesn't reveal your identity.

I never did find that shuttle that had been attacked by ecoterrorists. (Unless the mess I cleaned up in the cargo bay was that.)

Well, not exactly. Cloning lets you keep the same character instead of having to re-roll a new one. And can be done faster than 15 minutes most of the time. Someone respawning instead of being cloned also means that a traitor objective to kill him doesn't fail.

Yes, indeed. It limits what they can do since dicking around after dicking someone means they are going to be found out after 15 minutes. But at the same time, it makes indirect murder with poisons, by proxy or sabotage much more interesting since you can have your target respawn without knowing who killed him in the first place.

Traitors can get away with a lot of things but some stuff should still be verbotten, their ultimate purpose is still to make the rounds fun and interesting, if they fail to do so, that shouldn't be allowed.

Silently removing players from the round (like changelings used to do) means that a large portion of the server is gonna have to observe for an hour and an half for someone to actually get shit done. Forcing them to play fast the second they remove anyone from the round means less downtime for everyone else.

I'm just spit balling here, there's no way to know the full implications of this without trying it but I'm not seeing a server testing the waters for something like this anytime soon.

There's an issue here where mice can't really get that much food actually. Most of it is inside machines or lockers so unless they can feed on actual trash or pools of vomit\blood, they will starve.

A clean station will have little problem with rats or at best will have furry mascots. A dirty station will have an horde of infested rodents spreading the plague.

What we could have is combining this with the basic concept of what culminated into Nurglestation and mix it with Nations.

Trash\Blood\Etc spawns pests (flies, rats, bats). They also get the code from farm animals that lets them actually eat things and reproduce after a while.

Every pest has a Disease Var that starts at 0 if they spawn naturally or at 5 if they came from trash. Eating trash instead of food also increases that var by 1 up to 20 and it lowers by 1 every minute. This is the chance of spreading a minor disease to anyone touching the pest or when being bitten by it.

A Ghost can click on any pest to take control of it, making it his life goal to find more food so he can expand his pest race. Pests can also attack each other when they are hungry or to defend nearby same-species pests so you have inter-racial battle for resources included.

To incentivize the player not kamikazing with his body, he has a cap of followers that starts at 0 and grows by 1 every minute alive up to 5. A rat player that's 2 minutes alive can have 2 other rodents following him around just by passing near them. It's AI controlled so don't expect much from this.

This means that a trash pile will spawn a few pests who will proceed to eat it all and reproduce until there's a sizeable chunk from which players can spawn. After that, players will roam the station looking for tasty food and killing anyone not of their species in the process, as well as spreading diseases to humans in their own turf war.

I don't remember that happening at all in any of the stories. There was that one with the mining company, but they voided the warranty by disabling one of the rules there. The exosuit drill and the exosuit Plasma cutter are a lot better for mining, but the plasma cutter does absolute fuck all against Mobs

I was watching that round and the RD dude thought the AI was rogue simply because I think the guy playing AI forgot where the state laws button was at the start, but he found it anyways. It was a special Olympics between the two, but RD dude seems like a cuckchanner from how he reacted. Also the guy playing AI left for the night I think because after he said "entering hibernation mode" he stopped doing anything.

When AIs scramble to state their laws, it's usually because they are either trying to find some loophole or opening the Wiki to copypaste them instead of pressing the button in order to avoid stating laws they don't want to state.

It's stupid since they can selectively choose what laws to state anyway, but some powergamers will see any kind of hesitation as the AI trying to hide something from them.

Ionized beams only create EMP blasts. They do not cause harm to fleshbags unless they possess cybernetic implants and is the reason eyepiece HUDs exist instead of everyone being implanted upon clonation, EMP weaponry is widely avaible and easy to deploy on a massive scale with little effort.

If you want a gun that really fucks the shit out of things, pick up a shotgun and load it with slugs. On good rolls it even destroys regular metal walls and airlocks don't stand too much either.
