OP redpill me on Headhunter, should I play it and why?
As to the thread I've been listening to Ace Combat 2 OST lately, there is something so unique about it, the japanese guitar playing and interesting synth melodies

Headhunter was supposed to be the Dreamcast's answer to Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter but it just got forgotten to time despite having a PS2 port a year after it came out. Probably didn't help that it came out on the DC the same year that MGS2 did. Got a sequel too called Headhunter Redemption but I have no idea if it's any good.

Nope. It came out on the Dreamcast first, then got ported to the PS2.

You posted a track and said "ok now you go". Should've started with more discussion.
Anyway I recently found the Einhänder soundtrack and I've been liking it. My favorite soundtracks are usually from games I have fond memories of, so Einhänder was a nice surprise since I haven't played it. From what I saw in a couple videos it looks like a horizontal shmup for the PS1.

Headhunter has a Robocop-like satire action movie feel, which makes it very comfy. It's fun to play, the graphics are excellent by Dreamcast standards, and the music is also great.

I remember Headhunter redemption getting mediocre reviews although a 7.5 back then was different from today.

This soundtrack is fucking great. It's got cheesy karaoke, 90s style funk, traditional Japanese music, and everything in between. Fuck you for killing this franchise, Konami

I think one that is a must, is a good main menu/main theme. It's one of those things that can either make or break when it comes to grabbing your attention. Not to mention, a comfy or up-beat theme is more likely to put me in the mode for some action. Red Faction's theme was pretty good in that regard.

>remember Headhunter redemption getting mediocre reviews although a 7.5 back then was different from today.
The funny thing is, when you look at one of the trailers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB8HD5peoNs) that they made for Redemption, it's mostly gameplay and in-game cutscenes. By today's standards, it's already got a hell of a lot more going for it than most games today. Especially, since you won't see much in the way of unscripted gameplay, until you get your own hands on said game. I miss the old days where trailers were like that. Now the phrase "not actual gameplay" is everywhere in these trailers.
>7.5
Also, yeah, a 7.5 back then wasn't bad at all. I guess you can thank sites like IGN, turning the number rating system into a massive joke.

Biggest complaint is that the bike is a bitch. Way too many times where I rammed into a wall because you cannot turn when you initially speed up too fast. This is only a problem because you got to get skill points by going fast on the bike to advance the story, and crashing will have you lose a lot of points. "Stealth" is a joke and you can run right behind an enemy and kill them. Game isn't too bad, but I honestly enjoyed the sequel more, even if the story in the sequel was more retarded.

Here's something genuinely overlooked. I never would have found this if I hadn't been bored out of my head one night years ago, perusing the indie marketplace on the 360. The game itself is whatever, but the soundtrack is absolutely stellar. It's comprised of strictly folk music.

I think what kills these threads despite their potential is that everyone posts but nobody listens. Maybe reformat the OP as a sort of game, post one/listen one, or something. Have everyone that posts more music listen to and comment on previously posted music of their choice. I considered having music posters have to comment on the music immediately before them, but that seems a little too /b/ for a simple OST thread. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

That's complete bullshit and I think you should go back to whatever social media circle you came from. The thread will be used for whatever it's good for; I downloaded a few games here but I wouldn't have posted otherwise without your stupid post prompting me

I could go for a new fighting game with a Eurobeat-esque soundtrack. The days gone by with no Sega Megamix sequel either are wasted ones.
