No joke Dx2 has the best combat in any SMT since SJ and I'd honestly ask for people if they have a phone and some boring trips to give it a chance.
>But what makes it good faggot.
-Battles are with 4 demons you have and a summoner of your choice.
-Press turn so if that's your shit the basic combat will be enjoyable anyway
-Demons have 10 MP and start with all of it (start with 2/10 or 5/10 depending on first or second in PVP) and gain +3 every turn, this makes basic skills like zio/mazio viable at higher levels due to having a low spam able MP cost and can semi offset constant usage of dyne tier skills
-Summoners only offer passive bonuses like one giving minor stat boosts, 25% buff chances upon conditions like reflecting a attack.
-Modern SMT is plagued with making the summoner a Gary stu unit who can deal more DPS then the rest of the party combined so actually just being the person who summons the demons and lets them fight is a fresh feeling.
-2 to 3 skills on every demon is set, 1 is tied to their archetype which you can manipulate easily to get the best of, and 2 slots dedicated to transferring what ever you want on. This means no A. faffing in fusion for the best inheritance or B. doing fusion chains for broken chosen inheritance. If another demon you have has their first skill as something you want on another? Just transfer it and easy done. Avoids making demons brain dead every demon is a 1 man party set ups which has been another issue plaguing SMT more and more.
-Lots of challenging side content and PVP to spice up playing when fighting different compositions
>But this shit is gatcha ain't it? I'm not rolling for 5 stars just to play the fucking game past a certain point!
This is one of the better parts of Dx2 which is you never have to.
There are demons in the 1 star rarity range even like Jack bros that are viable all the way up in to PVP due to how much utility they have.
All of the main content can be completed entirely through 2 1 star and 2 3 star demons. But the game will give you a free 5 star to carry you if you need it while building a team (can also use it to re roll till you get something broken good if you want).
Make a team consisting of.
-Ose (Elementalist Archetype) Strong Phys unit with null physical which fucks with main game enemies hard
-Feng Huang (Elementalist Archetype) One of the best healers in the game and only a 3 star
-Jack Frost (Protector Archetype) Strong magic attack, can inherit skills cheaply and it's skill "tag" lets it pass it's turn for free to build MP / shift through the needed demon quicker
-Pyro Jack (Protector Archetype) Same as frost but with fire element
And you have a budget no gatcha begging required party that's good enough to beat a high majority of the content including the entirety of the main campaign in the game and do decent in PvP too for the benefits that gives.
>Don't I still have to roll for those niggers?
No, talking to recruit demons and fusion is still in the game, exclusives include "Hero" and "Fiend" types with a few others like Alice here and there.
My above mentioned party can be made extremely early in the game (Chapter 2 at the latest) and as long as you remember to evolve those units to higher rarity they can easily beat the main game.
Dx2 has one of the best fusion calculators made by fans ever too, not just saying how to make them, but how to make the demon you want for as cheap as possible through a long chain of demon fusions.
Also IDK how common it is in other gatcha but you can up the rarity of your demons by sacrificing other demons of the same rarity by the rank of that rarity. (EG. 1 1star to make a 2 star, 2 2 star to make a 3 star and so on)
>What else is there?
There's a first person hourly generated 50 floor dungeon to play around in for a bit.
Monthly race specific challenges which by the time you've beat the game you'll have enough of each race to enter frequently to gain the large rewards from.
Jack Frost theme'd monthly arena challenge to get more free rolls from.
PvP which gets gems, points for skill transfer, higher tier skills at lower MP costs for transfer if you get to gold rank in it.
With Dante being added to the game it feels like a good excuse to at least give it a chance since as long as you're not being a retarded nigger spending money on in game purchases, you're losing no money from giving it a shot and a free early game Dante to use might be novel enough to engage you for long enough to get interested in the game.
I can prob answer any serious questions on the game anyone else has if they have any to offset any concern, but this legit is thanks to fusion and demon recruiting this is the most genuine no strings attached free to play of the "Gatcha" sub genre
