I've been playing DMC3 for the first time recently, and I'm having a shitload of fun. I have no fucking clue why I never got into the franchise. If you're playing on turbo, which you should, then crazy combos basically require you to learn input buffering.

The inputs for it were balanced around normal mode, when you turn on turbo the limit for crazy combos becomes retardedly high.

If not, then you just gotta train your hands.

If you distort Straight properly it deals more damage than DT Real Impact, correctly distorting the last to kicks from Gilgamesh Combo A will also deal more damage than DT Real Impact. A full climax also deals more damage than RI but it only works on large bosses that can get damaged by all the swords.

Dante in DMC4 sorta feels underdeveloped, they took him as he was from DMC3, gave him a few new moves and style switching but at the same time they took away a lot of things like:

<Gunslinger no longer increases the damage of your guns

<Free Ride gone

<Wild Stomp gone

<Wall running with Trickster gone

<Gliding gone

<Trickster triple dash gone, you're now forced to learn "wave dash" by switching between trickster and royalguard rapidly or use devil trigger

And while none of the above are deal breakers they also forgot to streamline his combat and give each weapon more versatility. None of this is "noticeable" on OG DMC4, but it sticks out hardcore on DMC4SE, especially when you have characters like Vergil and Trish that have a lot of versatility without having the need for styles. Sure they ain't as deep as Dante but if you give them styles they'll be crazy and even better than Dante, on the other hand, if you take away Dante's styles he becomes shit.

Imagine if you could launch an enemy and do a rave without having to switch to SM and if you want to use helmbreaker you press lock on, forward, attack. This would lower the barrier for simple air combos and at the same time add depth by having Swordmaster in the air have a whole new move.

I've decided to wait it out for the crack. I had my early 2019 all planned out for DMC5 and then Sekiro. Then DMC5 was revealed to be Denuvo'd and then I hear I'm going on holiday a little before Sekiro. So I've just decided to play other games, play DMC before I go and hopefully return to a cracked DMC5. Sekiro will wait until later or when I get back, depending on if 5 gets cracked.

It just takes some time. If you're serious about it it's kind of a grind but not as impossible as it seems. Just need to pay attention and not get distracted by your ego. I recommend just watching some combos from combo MADs and recreating them. It's the best way to git gud quickly, once you got the basic JCs down. I recommend Paradigm Shift, which you can find easily on a chinese shithole called bilibili.

That's a terrible idea, just trying to copy combo MADs without having a solid grasp of the fundamentals (weapon and style switching) is a recipe for frustration and not the most time efficient manner to improve your skills with Dante, I speak from experience. Not saying is not possible, most old school pro players learned this way and by experimenting a lot but they've also been playing this game for over 5 years. The best way to improve that I've found is by nailing weapon a style switching to a point were you're confident enough to do some basic combos on command on all the enemy types. After that is when you want to copy combo MADs. Something else that helps, or at least it helped me, is a custom button config.

The tutorial I've linked is one of the most complete that I've found, it also has a lot of combo examples for practice (usually lacking in other tutorials). You don't even have to finish it, by lesson 15 you'll be above average and if you do finish it you can consider yourself Certified Cuhrayzee™

The Super V9 trainer, I tried fucking with the speed, but the timing becomes different.

There is an awkward thing with the shotgun where you can not shoot while rave and have to do it a frame or so after it hits, then you can't do it again for a few frames.

At least that is what it feels like to me

So once you mess with the speed, the rhythm becomes weird.

Don't try to cancel the rave into shotgun or whatever.

Think of the cycle as if it starts from Shotgun. But start it from rave.

So the cycle would be: Shotgun, JC, Rave

But you just start from Rave for positioning. So in a sense, let Rave completely recover before pressing Shoot.

Although the mods mostly look better, I feel like its accomplishing this by altering parts of the model that weren't the problem to begin with. The result is maybe prettier, but also more plain and uninteresting. For example, they narrowed the nose and jaw in the second pic, but those are features that look fine on the actual actor. It also doesn't fix the glazed over look in the eyes, or whatever else makes the models look unnatural in game. It feels like they're trying to fix the models by working around the problem and over compensating in other areas.

It's this plus the fact that japs suck at creating ultra realistic HD GRAPHIX and make people look good(actually that's the problem is that nobody can make people look good with ultra HD GRAPHIX™. Nah, if we were talking about western devs sure, it has more to do with japanese developers in general being kinda incompetent at making realistic looking characters that look appealing. They also tend to prefer more stylized designs for aesthetic purposes because it objectively looks better and ages better, videogames simply aren't there yet when it comes to photorealism. Capcom is one of the few japanese developers investing and actually pushing for this kind of facial tech in high profile games but the mixed reception they have gotten and the fact that some guy with Blender/3DStudio can do this shows you how much they need to improve in that field.

Another issue I see is them choosing models with the wrong facial structure and features for the original character, with the haircut being something that comes to mind. You see in order for a haircut to look good on you it needs to compliment your facial structure and the positioning of your features, this isn't a problem for most videogame characters because they are usually designed with aesthetics in mind first which is why it is important to be picky when using human models so that they match both the facial features and structure to look like the characters. To me, Leon, Ada and Marvin models nail this but Claire does not

I think this will end with Dante and Vergil dead but with their differences resolved and working together. Nero will become the full new main character.

Nope, Sparda "died" first, and then Mundus sent his minions to kill Eva, Dante, and Vergil.

Sparda also really can't be there durring the attack Since Vergil was visting Sparda's grave when the attack happened, while Eva and Dante were in the house. That's why both Vergil and Dante thought the other was dead until they first came across each other a Year before DMC3 happened.

This is the closest we have I think. I actually think the new vocalist and new background guitars makes the song pretty good now as I've actually played DMC games and know that the lyrics for battle themes are usually edgy. also DMC has always prioritized English over any other language. DMC5 is actually going to be the first mainline DMC game to have a Japanese dub at launch. since DMC4 only got one with DMC4SE. and DMC 1, 2, and 3 only have English voice acting.

DMC5's lip sync is also meant for English since it's quite clear it doesn't match the Japanese lines.

I'm not sure about that part. The anime came out a year before DMC4 was released and then there was a good 7 years until DMC4SE came out with the Japanese dub.

To Git Gud at a game is a reward in and of itself, I find DMC2 more fun when I'm actually playing it like a DMC game and trying to get S ranks in combat, getting to Showtime also makes it so white orbs are more likely to appear and that give you more time in Devil Trigger.

The guns are quite useful, I actually like the power to them, instead of the chip damage it feels like they do in DMC4. But to say Guns are the best method to beating of the games enemies it simple wrong, since plenty of Bosses like the Infested chopper and Tartarussia/Plutonian are actually Resistant to ranged attacks and melee does far better damage.

for example the way your intended to fight the Chopper is to shoot the heat seeking missiles it sends at you, since they net you a ton of DT, and then your meant to fly up and hit it's weak point with Flying melee attacks.

While this is true that enemies are brain dead on Normal mode. On Hard and DMD allot of the enemies get far more interesting attacks, and DT'd enemies are far harder to stun with Guns.

if you play royal guard you can actually only press circle and you will be set for the entire game

Does that mean you don't have to learn any other moves? In DMC2, the guns just make for an easier time if you want to be bored the entire time, you are actually rewarded for getting close and slashing with the sword; the damage is guaranteed if you just shoot in DT, but you get a higher output for doing actual combos on the boss.

But my point is that anyone can beat a DMC game by just spamming the basic combo over and over again, if they don't care about Ranks, But it actually does take effort if you want S ranks in DMC2 just like in any other DMC game.

Can someone explain the lock in DMC3 to me? I'm getting frustrated with it because every time I launch an enemy it switches to the closest ground target. This reminds me of the final fight in DmC, which makes me suspect Itsuno wanted that to be in there even back then. Also, guess it's confirmed that Vergil's back, but only to spend time/fight with Dante his son Nero before going back to hell with Dante. Predictable, as the trailers alluded to this game being Dante's swan song (but knowing the backlash they'd get, I'm sure capcom and Itsuno will find some bullshit way of bringing them back, either for story purposes, or as DLC in a future installment).

So, I just beat DMC4 for the first time. I played through on normal on my first go since I'm a shitter, but the game really doesn't throw enough enemies at you to have fun on normal. It also felt a lot easier than DMC3 on normal to beat although, that may be because I didn't realize you could buy blue orbs and DT orbs in DMC3 so I ended up beating the game with 3 DT orbs and less than a complete bar of health, but I felt like it was much harder to get SSS grades in combat sections since there's so few enemies and Nero doesn't have any different devilarms to mix it up. And after playing through DMC3 recently, Dante having three weapons instead of two really threw me off, but that's just me being bad and not getting used to the game. It's also a real fucking shame they didn't bring back Nevan for the game. Also, the Savior and final boss are not great.
