What setup do you use for playing games with friends on PC? Do you prefer a headset or would you rather use a mic and headphone setup?

I use some $60 Sennhauser one a friend recommended to me. It worked well enough and lasted me about two years, but it seems to be breaking down now. Started making this loud crinkling noise right in my ears and it gives me little shocks. I think it's done.

I've been considering getting a mic and headphones instead, but I honestly have no idea where to start so I might just go for the all-in-one set again. What do you recommend for either one? I'm not getting a fucking Skullcandy

honestly I prefer the shitty mic quality to clear mic quality, there's nothing like someone screaming and yelling, peaking really badly with a tinny voice and tons of distortion.

cable snaps, you have to repair it by soldering it then vaccum tubing it, compare this to headphones with a detachable cable, btfo your headset by a long shot and usually the cables are flimsy

ideally you want open headphones (no one will hear your loud cuck porn, faggot) so you can naturally hear yourself talk

Listen faggot, never go for headsets. I've burned through I don't know how many and none of them as come close to the same quality as a good pair of headphones/mic. When 250$ headsets I've used doesn't compare to my 80$ headphones with a 50$ mic. Hell with the microphone you don't even have to go that far to spend that much. Had a microphone I spent 5$ on that wasn't much worse than the 50$ one.

Not to mention, my headphones have lasted me a hell of alot longer than any headsets.

headsets suck, get agk k240 if you dont mind them being open which works only when you're in quiet envoirnment because open usualy have better soundstage and sound positioning for that delicious gayming

get taskstar 82 pro if you want comfy closed ones with bretty good soundstage

I've listed only cheapo ones because i live in poor-ass slavic country

Alright. The gist of it seems to get decent headphones with a clip-on mic.

I'm not here advocating for headsets or anything and I don't give a shit about extreme quality. I just want to get acceptable sound while having my voice not be likened to a horse on its deathbed.

That's about the price I paid for my old set so it sounds like a good deal to me. They were open too and I had no issues with sound. Closed have always been a little harsh on my ears if anything.

Another thing I forgot to mention, the NVX is 64 ohms so if you want to use it's maximum quality get an amp. I personally don't have one and perfectly content with italthough curious.
