So this is basically Sonys last big AAA exclusive this gen if rumours of The Last of Cis Part 2 is being pushed to a PS5 launch title. But even though i see the odd person on line, mostly the typical platform fanboy for the most part, screeching that its "an epic day one purchase" the overwhelming majority don't seem to care. It makes me wonder if this is going to be the biggest budget flop the industry has seen in a long time.
Because honestly whens the last time a massively shilled, on stage at E3, big budget console exclusive bombed hard? i genuinely can't remember. Its been so long since a game bombed for none controversial reasons i genuinely cannot remember the last AAA western title that failed not because it was anti consumer as fuck but simply because its a swing and a miss.
Right now the game appears to have no microtransactions, has a some effort put into its open world and is using real actors for the mo-cap, likeness and voice acting which isn't cheap so it doesn't look like something made on the cheap to fill a seasonal dry spell.
But it just looks so bland and uninteresting and nothing about it screams "this will be fun to play, i would like to play this vidya gaem" at all.
Its hard to put into words but do you know what i mean? something that you see a big company trying super hard to shill and you just think "why are you even bothering?" like this?
It feels like trying to get people excited for ready salted potato chips. Yeah nobody really hates plain chips or finds them offensive and they aren't really an extreme, out there taste for your palette, but you also don't hear people get tons of options and go "i'll take these, because there ain't no flavour i love more than 'plain' i tell you what".
Do you understand what i mean? or am i just crazy?
