It's why I've always loved games from Eastern Europe, for whatever reason they always tend to prioritize gameplay over streamlining, graphics and political agenda. We talked about this type of game in another thread. It would be very controversial and could only get away with being on PC as no console would allow it. The only issue I have with these serial killer simulator ideas is that I always see them as players essentially killing someone every day and because its a game, can easily get away with it.

Have more military-style mission objectives at least nominally; rather than 'kill X number and type of enemy in the restricted arena' or 'kill these cargo planes,' give the player meaningful targets on battlefields with properly drawn frontlines with a musou overview map. Punch through X location to raid the backline; destroy these gun posts to open the way for exploitation forces and complete an encirclement; destroy or capture a specific target like a Mobile Suit or a staff officer; all likely to be done in concert with infantry or mechanized elements. Or if in space, fleet elements.

And unlike some usual musou, where an objective completion might cause chaff troops to directly appear or disappear to accomplish the effect of 'the enemy is routing' or 'reinforcements have arrived,' do that with stat & AI modifiers or scripts for troops that already exist on map and bring them in from a map edge or an explicit, interceptible airdrop if they're new spawns who aren't coming out of a garrison. Both to preserve suspension of disbelief, and to create a meaningful relation between 'forces that are here now' and 'forces I will have to deal with or work around later.'

Meanwhile, the objectives themselves aren't necessarily completed as soon as you get the first tickmark. If you're raiding, then you need to raid by attacking supply lines, munitions dumps, enemy HQ elements, and divisional or corps support weaponry like field guns, MLRS, support mobile suits or land battleships, with broad discretion given. If you're opening the way for encircling forces, you need to make sure they actually make it through the gap and dynamically follow through to complete their own objectives for as long as fuel and ammo hold out in a sustained breakthrough action. If you're capturing something the enemy really doesn't want you to, you might end up in a belated escort situation until it's clear. How you choose to carry through with that and when you choose to break off may be up to you, on the other hand.

And the infantry doing their ground pounding jobs aren't necessarily unimportant filler, because their very existence is an effective point defense for you. Hundreds or thousands of eyes and guns, fully capable of seeing that hull down tank or wire-guided missile dugout you might've missed to provide a callout. And a counter to the enemy infantry, who if ignored and given enough chances might plink you in just the right place to cause a sensor or mobility kill with a crappy LAW or a squad AT weapon. So making the lives of your grunts easier and the lives of the enemies' harder is a good way to subtly snowball a mission towards easier success.

Finally; give the campaigns meaningful divergence potential with some roleplaying between and sometimes in missions, with the player being a commissioned officer with at least a little pull from the start. If you're playing Feddie, beside the obvious route of joining the AEUG when the postwar goes sour, maybe you can avert some of the depredations of the Earth Elite or prevent the Titans crisis entirely with the right choices; or you could intensify and finalize them if you're a real bastard. You could be a military reformist or a hardliner in the Gundam vs GM argument regarding grunt Mobile Suit quality. And there's always the opportunity to, eventually, pursue or bury the Box.

If you're playing Zeon, you could always ensure one of the movements survives and achieves victory. Zabis' Principality alone has all kinds of potential for who you can choose to support in the factional and familial infighting, for better or worse, or you could choose to try and build bridges for the betterment of the war effort, or stay strictly, professionally uninvolved. You could flirt with the rump Deikunist-democratic circles on the sly. You could influence the hellish mess of Zeons' procurement, get some streamlining & early or more widespread suit appearances, and prevent the wasteful tragedies of Gundam IGLOO. Maybe even get M'Quve's United Maintenance Plan through, if you make the right friends and don't step on the wrong toes, namely by effectively currying favor with Dozle & Kycillia and their subordinates at the same time. The immediate postwar has branching potential in choosing to flee to Axis, joining the Delaz Fleet, or striking out on your own as a privateer. Or going to Mars, as a secret option.

The alternate story possibilities are endless, and it's not like Bamco wouldn't be able to figure this shit out, they already did a simpler version of it in Gundam Vs Zeta Gundam and they have no shortage of typewriter monkeys to rough it all out. Minus the last points on plot, it's all sort of like Panzer Front with mechs, if I had to compare it to anything.

I want them to remake pic related with modern tech.

Give it 8-way run, make it so getting back up doesn't take upwards of 8 seconds, character customization (not creation) for a multitude of costume possibilities.

More weapons to select and an expanded edge master mode in the vain of SCII's weapon master mode.

Get rid of the critical edge mechanic and weapon gauge the original had and just use SCIV's soul gauge and SCV's guard crush mechanic.

But even if this does get remade, Bamco would find ways to fuck it up.

Exuberant amounts of DLC, day 1 DLC, season pass, online pass, guest characters up the ass.

Characters will have a unnecessary new comeback mechanic to make it more accessible to new comers.

Customization items would be half-ass instead of getting every item that was already present in previous games like we are supposed to.

Normal characters will somehow have access to magic somewhere in their move set, instead of having a more grounded approach to the weapon based combat like in the original.

Fan favorites from later games will be shoe horned into the game at the expense of balance and consistency.

Minor changes will be made to retcon certain aspects of other characters, Sigfried's height, Cervantes weapons having no pistol / firing capabilities, Taki only having one weapon instead of having two.

Soulcalibur will be shoehorned into the plot.

Redditards will throw a shit fit for not having character creation for them to make their shitty OC.
