I feel like we need a new infograph for recommended mice and keyboards. A lot of the recommendations on /tech/s wiki are overpriced and outdated. This keyboard has cherry switches, n key rollover, and only costs 60$. This mouse has a better sensor as the Zowie FK at half the price.
I found both of these with just a cursory glance on Amazon and while I haven't used them myself I haven't seen any reviews that suggest they are inferior to something Ducky or Logitech would produce.

This is a facet of video game culture that I wish I had the time and money to get into. I just use what's cheap and convenient. Picked up a weird yellow keyboard at some crazy surplus store and a vertical mouse from amazon. I've had them for five years now, at least. They work well enough, I guess.
How often do you really need n-key rollover in vidya? I can vaguely recall a couple of instances where it might have been useful, but generally I can get away with just remapping some functions to mouse4 and mouse5.

That's because unless you go custom / retarded prices you're pretty much getting the same shit in a slightly different looking package with the only real differences between those being the crapware you need to install to actually access most of your KB functions and what switches it has.

Been thinking about switching from my old fully functional basic Dell keyboard to some mechanical one. It would probably outlive me but mechanical does feel nice.
Do any of you fags have experience with cherry red switches? Most people seem to go for brown, but I've read chery reds are quieter and alrite for rapid presses due to the switches being linear, other than that they have the same actuation point and operating force.
The MX Board seem alrite, sober style, lack of gay features + übermensch engineering.

Nope, but since I have a CK550 I can tell you the Gateron Red which are technically clones of MX reds are fairly nice to type on compared to MX browns and other lighter tactile switch like the vulcan one from Roccat)
They're also miles ahead when it comes to games, rapid repeated presses on tactile switches are no good.

I have never typed on a mechanical keyboard but I did buy one of those cherry switch testers. It is hard to say since I of course can't actually type on it, but brown felt terrible. Red felt the best, black might be decent for typing if I learned not to bottom out the keys but would hurt for gaming, blue was very satisfying but would probably be too annoying in real usage. Testers are like ten bux on amazon, might be worth buying one to see what feels best to you as I seem to like the exact opposite of what I expected to.
I've also heard what the other anons have said about Gateron and Kailh switches. In particular Cherry Reds are scratchy (I can tell myself) and the knockoffs feel smoother. It seems to be one of the rare cases where the chink knockoff is superior to the real thing.

I've been using the G600 for about half a year now, and it is very comfortable for my fairly large hand. I recommend it if your PC doubles as a workstation alongside being a gaming rig, because the amount of buttons will suit any purpose; whether it's one handed Premiere work, or a specific setup that caters to your specific form of gaming autism. There's also the benefit of being able to save your profiles to your mouse as well.
It's also the only mouse I've seen in recent years that has the normal left, middle, and right click; but also has RIGHTER click.
The only downside is the Logitech gaming software being only decent at best. Buggy with profile colors at times, and the UI isn't as intuitive as I'd wish. Even if Razer's software is laughable when you go offline, at least it was more fleshed out, and could have more than 3 sets of bindings per profile. Then again, I don't think I've need more than that.

How to select mice: light as possible, flawless sensor without exception (MLT04, PMW3360, Logitech Mercury/Hero, various other built in house sensors from other companies, google "mouse name sensor" to find out what it has) and shape you will actually like.
DPI is meaningless. All it is just another word for sensitivity. Use 400, 800 or 1600/1800 DPI. They usually the least problematic and anything above 2000 usually sees jitter on most mice. I use 800 DPI because it is enough to use for desktop use but still a good baseline for all games.
Microsoft MLT04 mice need a overclocked USB port at above 500hz, as high as possible preferably. Reason for this is that MLT04 has a negative acceleration problem if you move it too fast, overclocked refresh rates fix it.
Laser mice are shit. All laser sensors have acceleration and hence are shit. Avoid them all.

Don't be an idiot and get a good mousepad too if you don't have one yet. Get one that is as big as possible and you can fit on your desk. Don't pay too much for one like an idiot. You shouldn't pay above 30 for one at most, you can get a sufficiently large one for 10$ from China. To actually put your flawless sensor to use, you need a large mouse pad and low sensitivity. If you use low sens, you will have to aim with your arm and not your wrist. Get used to it. Wrist aiming will give you RSI.

To be even more detailed, those are sold as "Gaming Headsets" but they have 3 flaws for that use
>shit soundstage
Not very surprising considering they're closed but you don't want closed headphones for gaming unless you have sound pollution issues which brings us to
>shit isolation
I've heard semi closed chink headphones isolate more than this shit, so you end up with a pair of closed headphones that's shit at doing the one thing closed headphones are useful for
>Neutral with inconsistent delivery
If you're using a pair of headphones for games you want either bright headphones with nobass or V shaped because the first is good for competitive stuff (less bass tends to be less fatiguing on hte ears and you can hear game critical sounds like footsteps better with that) and the other is good for just enjoying the audio of the game (especially loads of subbass so you feel like shit is exploding right around you), neutral achieves neither, and neutral with inconsistent delivery means you don't even get to enjoy the advantages of a neutral which some people prefer for listening to music (I don't but that's my personal taste) headphones to begin with.

7cc8fb No.15941636
>>15941622
> I don't even know what a "soundstage" or "isolation" are.
Isolation is simple, how much external sounds leaks in and how much of your headphones sounds leaks out, latter is irrelevant for the most part.
Soundstage is a bit more abstract of a concept, it's basically how wide you feel the distance range is for sounds you hear through the headphones, narrow soundstage means you can't differentiate a "far" sound form a "near" sound, for vidya that's bad because it hampers your ability to pinpoint sound locations, wider soundstage means it's easier for you to pinpoint far near and things in between,
Games have started applying attenuation filters on "far" sounds to counterbalance the issue (ever noticed the farther something is the more muffled it is that's the filter) but you're always going to have an edge if you have better soundstage.
>Every single time I bring up these headphones I swear.
Same reason why people shit on Razer, gaming headsets are the most prominent Gaymer milking product, it's almost on the same level as audiophile milking
>>15941628

It is considered that cherry switches in general are inferior despite being made by germans and gateron and kalih are made by chinks, also kalih has gone absolute nuts and made tons of switch variations and gateron switches are also considered very smooth to cherry's.
If you like Cherry MX reds consider the fact that you could get an even lighter and smoother switch with Gateron Clears or a similar switch but smoother, see these force curves.
The Kalih switches are very great choice if you want a tactile or clicky switch if you liked Cherry MX Browns but with a bigger bump or heavier stiffness or both, since I feel that MX Brown's bump disappears the faster you type or game.
