XY and SMUSUM are such absolute talkathons I can't imagine anybody who actually had the misfortune of playing the games would be asspained if you solved one of the worst aspects of the new games.
I played through Ultra Moon using only a Faticate in 20 hours. Approximately 6-7 hours were spent mashing through poorly written dialogue, enduring characters making the same 6 animations inbetween every line they speak, and watching slow cutscenes about babby's first waifu.
I say this with the utmost confidence: Deleting Lillie and everything about her would make the games roughly 4 hours shorter. There's way more that needs fixing in these games, but we just got rid of half of the gameplay-interrupting non-content.
Although, I'd imagine slicing out so much crap from the new games would be tougher and in less demand than rebuilding a gameboy game for the 5th time.

I think this is one of my biggest gripes.
Natures, EVs, IVs, breeding, it's all busy work that isn't fun. If it's not fun- why are you playing it? Even stuff that lets you skip it over like Bottle Caps isn't unlocked until later.
I've been trying to catch shiny legendaries in Ultra Sun. Combine that with trying to get a good nature and it is maddening.
I think it's why so many liked Lets Go. Sure it's baby mode and incredibly simple and "junk-food gaming", but endlessly catching pokes by doing a simple targetting minigame is more fun than the wide-but-shallow tactics of the main games, and minutia that really doesn't matter. And then they're gonna charge for online on top of the Pokemon Bank account.
The games are gonna keep turning a profit for decades to come, but they're never really even good RPGs on a technical level. Spin offs and the like are actually deeper and more interesting. Even the TCG online- sure it becomes mirror matches between top meta decks, but even the randomization of the cards gives you different ways to play each time. You could reskin nearly any other RPG as a Pokemon game and it would be a better Pokemon game.

EV's, IV's, and natures are utter cancer that promote the worst kind of minmaxing. Worse yet are the squishy retards who vehemently defend any criticisms against it, with "IT'S JUST A CHILD'S GAME COME ON U GUIZE" etc. As though children should want to autistically follow a spreadsheet of information to get "the best" Pokemon, instead of just fucking balancing the game.

After watching the twitch stream of pokemon I picked up emerald, having never played anything past crystal.
I wasn't sure if I stopped at Crystal because Crystal was boring for me or because R/S/E didn't appeal to me.
Well I finished Emerald and must say that I'm quite disappointed in it. Guess I'm too old for pokemon or some shit but the game felt very barebones for some reason.

Pokemon Platinum.
The perks of Gen 4 introduced (phys/spec split, online battle and trade) was perfect for a globally popular IP like Pokemon.
Smooth jazzy soundtrack, my favorite starter (Turtwig), and favorite champion in terms of both design and actual fight.
The ability to use my GBA games to get new wild pokemon was also neat.

EVs are fine, though they really should've made it more managable to work with them early-mid game in the series before the gen-6 hyper casualisation. At least it gives romhacks a lot of potential. Natures aren't too bad, since they're fairly restricted and tie in with breeding for abilities or egg-moves, but IVs are stupid and provide nothing aside from making trick room teams slighlty more viable and foul play slighlty less useful. It really wouldn't be that hard to work out a new method to change HPs typing either; through an NPC or something like that.

Go play Crystal Clear. They even made it so you can get an upgrade that shows wild Pokémon's IVs. Training/breeding/catching is easy and fun, not a tedious chore like in gen 3+

I play pokken compeittively, it's a fantastic fighting game.
It's just a shame it doesn't get much attention, since the FGC dimissses it due to being Pokemon and it being advertised as if it was a casual arena fighter even though it's not, and then casuals/the pokemon fanbase ignores it because it IS an actual fighting game.
