Long story short, I don't know how to play poker. I can't tell what a "good hand" vs a "bad hand" is, nor when to bluff or fold or go all in. I made this thread to ask around for any good online resources or guides on learning how to become great at it. A while back, I had to give up doing the gambler challenges in Red Dead 2 (necessary to get a certain completionist reward) because of my severe lack of poker knowledge. And before that, I started sweating bullets in Far Cry 3's finale when the game forces you to play poker. If rated M games are gonna keep putting me into these situations, I might as well start learning the basics now.

Just google a list of the hands and that's literally all you need if you are playing any sort of online or videopoker.

The vast majority of card-games are done by counting cards and calculating probabilities. For Poker all you need to do is memorise the list of winning combinations and then do what you do in every card game.

That depends entirely on who you are playing with. There is no one mind game to rule all mind games.

Alright. I spent the better part of the afternoon learning what I could about poker. Starting with what hands beat what (pic related), what blinds are, and the general rules of the game. I think I got a rough understanding overall so far, but goddamn it, it's not something you could take in all in one day. I might need to spend a day or two more learning the tidbits I looked over.

Either way, I'm now a little less nervous about facing poker minigames in video games. Now that I have some clue of what's going on.
