A very good example would be the backstory in the Modern Warfare games. There was a period starting in the 1970s when they were not. Even in the '60s, Spidey was supporting anti-war protestors, but he still had the utmost respect for Flash Thompson for fighting in Vietnam. In the '70s, especially after Watergate, they became much more anti-war, with DC even saying that the Golden Age superheroes never actually fought in World War II (because Hitler used the magic of the Spear of Destiny to keep them from interfering), despite all the World War II propaganda comics from back in the day. Of course to be fair, a lot of those examples were only ads on the cover and not actual canon stories to begin with. Despite all the Superman covers you've seen of him telling you to slap a jap, he never actually fought in the war because Clark Kent was deemed to have bad eyesight after he got too excited about enlisting and accidentally x-ray visioned all the way into the next room and read the next room's eye chart instead of the one he was supposed to be reading.

Anyway, other guys did fight in World War II, but these stories were now deemed to take place on Earth-Two A, instead of Earth-Two, where the canon Golden Age stories took place. There was a group called the Freedom Fighters though who instead went to Earth-X, the Earth where the Nazis won, and have ever since waged a never ending resistance. Also, they eventually introduced the Superman from Earth-X, Overman, who landed in German territory and is a Nazi, eventually becoming leader of the Nazi dominated world, but he's still painted sympathetically, trying to do the best he can, though he still fights the Freedom Fighters.

DC being pro-war would be a pretty drastic change from the last 50 years. Also, the guy in OP's pic is Black Adam, who is usually a villain but is portrayed sympathetically and has bouts of heroism. Notably, he once started World War III. He is one of the biggest warmongers in-universe, and it's in character for him to hold those beliefs. I'd be surprised if Superman agreed with him. I haven't kept up with DC in like three or four years though.

Batman didn't fight in WWII either, by the way. Wonder Woman did, though. They also had their share of Captain America knockoffs (even Marvel had Captain America knockoffs, and they owned the original). Other characters who would later be bought out by DC, but that this point were separate companies, also had a lot of WWII stuff, like Captain Marvel (the Shazam one, not the Marvel one), who fought Captain Nazi.

After these movies got Marvel enough capital to do anything, instead of investing back into comics, they invested into making their own movies using the characters so shitty that nobody wanted to buy the rights to them. This is the MCU. Nobody gave a single fuck about Iron Man before Robert Downey Jr played him. The movies literally saved Marvel, and the MCU is the biggest media phenomenon to happen in the history of time. Marvel does not give a single fuck about the comics, and after Disney bought them, Disney especially does not give a single fuck about the comics. This is why they are allowed to be profitless propaganda machines. The higher ups just don't pay attention. However, there are signs that even this is going too far for Disney. They recently signed a deal with IDW Comics allowing them to publish comics based on a few Marvel properties. A company other than Marvel now publishes Spider-Man comics (not that Marvel stopped their own or anything). The theory is that if these comics do okay, Disney will slowly phase out Marvel's publishing division entirely. The problem is that IDW, a very good indie company for over a decade, took a HARD SJW turn in the last three years or so, and in 2017 made over 90% less income than in 2016, and the trend is no better for 2018. They recently ended the Transformers comics that had been propping them up, and it looks like Hasbro might pull all their licenses, which IDW relies on. So if IDW goes under, it might keep Marvel alive for longer. But if IDW survives, Marvel might well stop publishing in a few years.

Yes, but this is after it got big on /co/. It only made people angry after it became known for being spammed. Ponyfags liked to pretend that it was the content that made people made, but it wasn't. Avatar was obnoxious as fuck, but they didn't get to the point where they would take an Avatar reaction image being used in an unrelated thread as an excuse to dump their entire Avatar folders. Avatar also had the problem of being stuck up, and thinking they were somehow better than Homestuck or ponies. They weren't.
