With hardware getting better, I am pretty optimistic for the future, but that future does not look like any period from the past. Quality games will be rewarded by the consumers, but they need to be made first– that is on the devs and their ceos, who are the last to understand what has happened over the last 4 years.

Really I want the plot to be interpreted by the player however they want in context of the games. This may no longer be possible because everything is political now. The way I see it is this: When passionate and skilled devs make games, they argue a message with practically every facet of the game and handcraft each facet with the best artists, composers, writers, programmers, etc. When this happens, we come across a game that is objectively excellent.
Unfortunately, as time went on and more faggots wanted to make games, they realized that making an excellent game is actually hard and so they decided to take shortcuts on every avenue of game development: the story became mindless propaganda, the music/art became unoriginal or bland, game performance became bloated and careless and finally gameplay became uninspired, repetitive, boring.
When the market becomes completely oversaturated with political propaganda shit, then we will see an even bigger demand for genuine games - games that argue for a message rather than forcing an agenda. My only concern is that these excellent games that will come will get overshadowed by the enormous shitpile left by its predecessors.

Games being political doesn't HAVE to be bad, but so far pretty much every single publisher and developer use politics as an excuse to produce bad games.
They think that their political standpoint raises the quality of the product - which it usually doesn't - and so they slack off on other aspects of the games quality. For example, imagine Dragon Age 2 without an political agenda - they would have never released it as shitty as it was, they would have never looked at the game and thought "I can be proud of this". But thanks to politics they could, as soon as the player (((opened their mind))) and went on a ride with the bull the objective was completed, the quality had been delivered.
And this shit happens everywhere, all the time. There are so few games that have delivered their political ideals respectfully and in an enjoyable way that it hurts - The Walking Dead 1+2 and Deus Ex Human Revolution, for example. But these days a game is usually either trying to scam you, your kids or your influence your political views without delivering a quality product.
