Anything that comes to PC is a port of the PS4 product. Plus, considering 7EVEN is in mid-development, Sony has more ground on the matter as far as saying what does and doesnt fly. Nobody does. The direction of Microsoft Game Studios at the time was skitzophrenic. They would make deals with developers for one thing, then go out on stage at E3 and promise something entirely different - they would feature creep projects to absurd extremes, for instance - turning Obsidians simple multiplayer RPG into million man-raiding contests based entirely in the cloud. Yet they wouldn't come off on an extra penny of funding or deadline extensions. There were like 20 people who all seemed to have a share of power to influence decisions just winging it and saying shit that sounded good - then developers were left trying to figure out how to make it work, and get the project done before some other asshole started to run their mouth. And of course, you also had corporate coming in and axing projects for looking like a clusterfuck of a burning money pit which they themselves dug and set on fire.

Part of the problem is that Microsoft suffered from similar internal power struggles that brought down Sega. Nobody except the Xbox guys really wanted Xbox to be a part of Microsoft, and the only reason why Bill Gates even signed on to the project was because he was shit-scared that Sony was going to try to turn the PS2 in a living-room PC - which to be fair, they were talking in those terms at the time. Turns out, Sony was largely just blowing smoke up people's asses to skirt import tariffs, but MS still thought the idea could be an effective wedge. The core of the original Xbox Team, the DirectX guys, actually wanted to build a good video game system - and Bill nearly shit a lead brick in rage when he found out it wasn't going to be a Trojan horse PC. They lost a ton of cash on Xbox, so weren't really in a position to push the livingroom PC angle going into the 360 era. Hell, they couldn't even afford to engineer a working console - hence the RROD. The only reason the Xbox One is even still around is because Microsoft put the reigns on the Xbox guys and turned the machine back into a livingroom PC like it was always intended to be. Of course, this allowed Sony to swoop in and sell a pc advertised as a game console and completely steal whatever momentum Microsoft had built last gen.

Microsoft literally hasn't made a dime of profit on the whole Xbox venture yet in it's entire history. They're getting close, and with the reorganization they're going to take a real stab at producing a game console next time around.. with a lot of the foundational work being laid this gen under Phil Spencer. If it doesn't pan out… Microsoft will probably pull up stakes and move on. The 360 was a proof of concept that they could be successful - but if they can't nail it, investors will be vindicated in appraising it as a fluke - and nobody is going to want to keep investing in a game console that hasn't made any profit in twenty years. If it doesn't operate as a trojan horse to get people into the Microsoft Ecosystem/app store - then it's worthless to them. Tax shelter aside.
