Without retconning Human Revolution or Mankind Divided, write a story that connects the prequels to the original Deus Ex thematically and tonally.

For me, I'd basically do Mr Robot.

0d1cf5  No.15746406

Is he a robot? Is there a Mrs. Robot?

No. He and some Chinese group hack/collapse the economy. The general NYC malaise and street life remind me more of Deus Ex proper than anything in HR or MD.

>Without retconning Human Revolution or Mankind Divided

An impossible task. There is no way to reconcile the vast technological differences between the worlds of original deus ex and the prequels, for instance. I never played mankind divided, but even human revolution had tech that far exceeded everything in deus ex save for nano augs, and possibly universal constructors.

>thematically

This is where the games are furthest apart. While HR (and from I know about it MD) can easily be summed up as "Aug lives matter," OG Deus Ex would require a much more elaborate explanation. HR makes the characters almost the entire point, with a layer of pretentious trans-humanism bullshit on top. In the OG, the characters are merely a vehicle to explore different ideas. The whole point is always the ideas, and never the characters themselves. If you asked the game who was JC before being augmented, the only answer would be "who gives a shit?" And there HR spends an enormous amount of time on characterizing Adam while examining a supposedly controversial, world dividing issue that isn't even hinted at in the original.

TL;DR:

>no

d7ee0f  No.15751278

>>15746400

Please do not confuse Mr Robot and Jay C Denton,

Elliot Rodger has hallucinations and a drug problem, whereas the Aug actually has high functioning autism, and only vapes nanites bcuz he's a good boi.

Immersive cyberpunk stealth-GEP shooters are not easily comparable to tech dramas.

So, adam was genetically engineered and his "parents", the scientists where killed and that's how Dr reeve got the DNA/bio-samples for the breakthroughs in human aug technology.

Am I getting this right? Is that what was supposed to be so controversial, human experiments on muh babbies that only 1 in 1 thousand actually made it alive?

>Human Revolution

>Sup guys, I'm an ex-cop turned security chief for a private corporation that specializes in human prosthetics, and that also takes military contracts on the side cause you know we gotta get that bling-bling, that is located right here in Detroit!

>My ex is a nobel prize willing scientist who used MY DNA to find the missing link in the human genome (something that should have been well mapped out by this point in time) that allows human beings to receive augmentations without taking nasty drugs and going through "rejection syndrome"

>During the very night that she was going to reveal her findings to the international community, an elite group of mercenaries storm the premises, kill all of the scientists who were pivotal for such research, and escape into the night without so much as a goodbye

>I nearly die trying to defend them but my boss made me into the six million dollar man and I show up ready for work six months later

>On the day of my return, one of our warehouses is attacked by a humanitarian terrorist group who exists because they believe that augmentations are immoral and I learn that one of their buttplugs is secretly a hacker who eats children for breakfast and sends pillaged corporate secrets to a location in China

>So I go to China to find out where muh data is being sent, and I meet a very powerful Chinese woman, who is also the CEO for a company that is one of my boss' primary competitors, who I learn is responsible for the kidnapping of the scientists who I originally thought were dead

>I go to Canada to the world's news center and speak to a hologram who tells me that my ex and her team were taken to a remote location in Singapore, and I go there to rescue them

>Then, I go to Antarctica, where the rich philanthropist who created biomechanical augmentations has created a large facility that is supposed to be responsible for regulating the earth's temperature, and try to stop said rich philanthropist from destroying humanity with some kind of killswitch that magically turns augmented people into zombies for some reason

>Finally, it is there that I learn that a shady group of conspirators wanted to kidnap my ex and her team so they could develop technology that would allow live female bodies to accommodate the augmentations that are required to maintain a supercomputer that runs on virgin's blood and pixie dust, ultimately for the sake of preventing some vague and nondescript, but surely evil, intentions

This shit is Scooby-Doo goes to The Future, so how the hell can this be tied to the original?

"Hey Faggots,

My name is John, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day looking at stupid ass pictures. You are everything bad in the world. >>15751765

deus ex 1's story is pretty coherent and is late 90's as fuck, only thing i disliked was making Bob Page love Thomas Aquinas, but nothing he did had ANYTHING to do with Aquinas, just spout quotes villainously.

Caesar from F:NV had a way more coherent theme, and his infatuation with the Romans was written very well.

Deus was right about a lot of things.

cf46fe  No.15765001

>write a story that connects the prequels to the original Deus Ex thematically and tonally

nu-deus ex is not cannon

the end

295c46  No.15765118

There's a very simple way to connect them, actually.

The Fall of the Illuminati.

During HR and MD, the Illuminati are pretty much the "Secret Shadowy Cabal of all-powerful figures that rule the world from the shadows."

But by the time the original Deus Ex rolls around, the Illuminati are a rag tag band of old guys hanging on to the few secrets and connections they still possess.

After that you have IW, where the Illuminati recovered a lot of power when the Internet went to shit.

So the only thing missing there is the slow erosion of the Illuminati. There's several ways you can portray this:

>Illuminati as a support column of modern society

You could treat them as an essential cog in the machine, and their enemies start hunting them, on purpose or completely unware that they're actually targeting a secret society.

As the members disappear/die/go bankrupt, societal order that depended on them starts collapsing. Countries go to shit, politics can't do shit, crime skyrockets as the Black Market expands.

>Illuminati as decadent cancer

Very similar to the previous idea, just let some opulent and greedy fucks rule them, and either some of the fringe members get fed up (internal war) or they start attracting attention and get taken out.

On both ideas, you could play as someone from the outside and unveil them, or work for them (unware or knowingly) and plot-twist with the "Illuminate were actually supporting the world because society is a lot more complicated and there's several secret cabals keeping things sane because it servers their interests to keep shit stable".

There's a fuckload other ways to do this, I listed the first one's that came to mind but the point was to use the Fall of the Illuminate to explore what happens when a society is (secretly) dependent on a shadowy cabal and that group goes down. To the neutral observer, this is a good thing (shadowy cabals are bad) and the society collapsed because of… reasons?

To the philosopher, the Cabals (you could have more) have a symbiotic relationship, but as the story progresses, you start seeing it another way: it's a mutual parasitic relationship where both are sucking each other dry and there's no host because all the Cabals and society itself killed them off.

2c9b1b  No.15765126

basicly do the next one based on 8chan /pol/ and /leftypol/ conspiracies

295c46  No.15765184

>>15746400

Easy peasy.

Human Revolution introduces cyber augmentation (but not nanomachines). One theme that crops up frequently is that augmented individuals can do far more than non-augmented.

Augmentation kills the work force metaphorically since a single cyborg can do the work of several regular people and for far longer.

Unemployement goes up, crime follows suit and before you know it, there's a mass of population too poor to buy the augments they need to work.

A revolution starts, where millions start trying to sabotage the infrastructure of their own countries, trying to gain independence and start over without that tech.

The solution to that problem? The Gray Death. Engineered to affect the average citizen, uncapable of getting a vaccine, this will solve their population problem.

You can also tie this with: >>15765118

No government would develop the Gray Death and use it willingly, but the Illuminati do what they perceive as necessary for the greater good, including the culling of the population.

At the same time, they are the ones with a vaccine and can use it as leverage. Anyone that wants a shot will be on their payroll, or a menber will simply replace anyone that dies from that disease, infiltrating ranks easily.

HR is the Illuminati losing it, as their influence in the world dies down drastically, due to cyber augmentation putting their enemies on equal grounds while millions reject the government and their country.

DX is about the Illuminati enacting a plan to regain influence and control in the world.

IW is about them being in power and what their Great Work really is.
