There's a lot going on in any active country. The genre's closest relatives are servers like 2b2t, but really, it plays out closest to servers like EVE. It's really one of the few servers that balances out the freedom it grants with the mechanics necessary to make warfare, peace, politics and production serious concerns.

It's plebbit territory. Every Civ* server has been locked in something of an ideological battle between anons and non-anons, with the fortunes of either side rising or falling over time. As it stands, anon society is only now recovering from something of a dark age, resultant from schisms that occurred between various anon groups between the end of Devoted and the beginning of Civclassic. There's also two major alliances currently staring each other down, regularly coming close to declarations of war from one incident to the next. FRIENDS is more anon but also comprised of players from other groups that existed prior to Civclassic, and SATO is mostly Reddit. UNATCO, the third alliance, was formed by the Chanseatic State and is presently one of the youngest coalitions of nations, formed from agreements between a few different anon groups from different imageboards.
It's one hell of a game, if you're willing to dive into it.
