Someday we'll look back on this time as the good old days. Survival/crafting and even battle royale are nothing compared to the coming cancer because at the end of the day both are relatively insular genres. You can go on about your life playing whatever games you want and simply ignoring those games. We'll wish we had this shit back when 90% of games are only playable through subscription services or phones.

I could not get into these type of games. I don't see whats so enjoyable about having to craft, find shit, craft some more, then maybe fight some random guy while farming.

I enjoyed the early Quake LAN matches I played aeons ago and a lot of early arena shooters were ok-ish for a while (they were all we had of that type after all) but subsequent ones watered down the innovation and got dull fast or haemorrhaged players to the 'next big thing'. I think GoW hoard was probably the last tolerable arena MP I played and that was mostly down to the crew I played with who were developing effective strategies rather than dicking about and getting ganked.

Then of course you've got the obsessive player with tunnel vision, delving into full autism and never stopping playing the same shit (TF2) for years on end.

I have no problem with survival games with crafting and all, the problem is that they typically stop midway of creating a decent simulator, such as not having enough building types, variations, enemy types, etc.
