I can't help but wonder where all the development time went.
Most of the assets were ported directly from Smash4 (granted the 3DS-exclusive stages had to be upgraded). Trophies are gone. Spirit mode is the bastard child of Brawl's stickers and Smash4's custom equipment; the code for which was also ported from 4. All the artwork is pulled directly from promotional material so no effort was spent there. Few new stages. Only 7 full-fledged newcomers, excluding echos and the melee/brawl rejects.

You'd be surprised how much assets and manpower it takes to create a full single-player campaign for a game like this, which is why I was against something like Subspace coming back myself. That's also why Brawl suffered from horrible mechanics and shallow gameplay, they used their energy on making a full game inside of a fighting game. They also had to remake stages and characters that weren't in Smash 4, which again eats up manpower, but has the benefit of being able to be handed off to a cheaply paid new hire as a way of proving themselves.

I don't see SMTV coming out in 2019, but that's mainly because of Persona 5, even though Persona 5 was delayed because of the PS4 version and it wasn't built on a middleware engine.
That being said
Luigi does look quite far in, but that means surprisingly little, Yoshi's Crafted Cul-de-sac was revealed at E3 2017, and it had a gameplay trailer and a live gameplay demo, it looked a little rough around the edges but a 2018 release date wasn't really far fetched, of course it missed 2018 by a wide margin. Luigi's Mansion will be a late year release, if it's 2019, something that is quite easily put into doubt.
As far as AC goes the difference between releases means nothing, since the dev team behind AC shares a lot of staff especially key staff with the dev team behind Splatoon, and the HD engine used for amiibo festival holds little value at current point, while they may reuse it the actual gameplay systems are far from Animal Crossing and graphically it's below Nintendo's current standard which is quite modern, most of their games are physically based, but that's mostly down to how materials are handled, Animal Crossing will more than likely aimed for physically based lighting, although that doesn't mean it will look realistic just that materials will be more consistent across multiple lighting setups and rubbers and metals will look really good.
Fire Emblem is confusing but it was revealed early 2017 and will release probably late 2019, if this doesn't kill hope for the bottom 3 games I don't know what will, it had clearly been in development for longer than them as well with such an early reveal, a tentative 2018 release date and an actual gameplay trailer in 2018.

I get where the idea is coming from though, and I do like how Piranha Plant was implemented and he does look fun to play. But I don't feel this is the sort of character that deserves to be playable in an "All-Star Cast" game. Outside of it being DLC, I don't know why people are making a big deal out of the plant. Sure its a common enemy and might open the door for really stupid shit like hat Goomba but its still a better character then Isabelle and swat cat.
The real problem with the game is how obviously rushed it is, with hardly any newcomers, no trophies, no single player minigames, pretending sticking stickers and a level select in event mode makes it an adventure mode and pretending alt costumes are new characters.

For starters, Marth and Roy and the Ice Climbers, when they first appeared in Melee. Ness and Captain Falcon when they first appeared in 64, and Lucas as well when he first appeared in Brawl. And lastly, once again, you'd have to convince people to pay extra for it. A whole shitload of data is coming out from people analyzing the new build and all the additional info posted to the website – the full list of Assist Trophies and spirits has been given.
Looks like characters being spirits may actually deconfirm them, as the K. Rool and WFT spirits that people saw in the trailer are listed as "Kaptain K. Rool" and "Tree" respectively. If the character itself appears things look pretty grim. Then again, Mewtwo and Lucas had trophies in Smash 4, so who knows.
Wonder Blue appears as a spirit, but not Wonder Red. Wonder Red is also not an assist trophy.

Agreed. While classic mode is at least no longer a clusterfuck, they didn't even port over melee's adventure mode, which was mostly just some 2d platforming ending with a battle.
No one actually LIKED the SSE, it was a tedious unfun schlock, but people remember the cinematics and found them fun and they associate the SSE with them. Not a single motherfucker enjoyed fight Galleum, the two headed bot, or most of the bosses. hell, fighting the normal foes wasn't fun because they had HP and no matter how concussive a hit you gave them, they wouldn't move until their HP was zero and it was very apparent you couldn't oneshot hardly anything unless you farmed fucking stickers.

Apparently there's a cutscenes tab in the vault where the description specifically says "watch adventure mode cutscenes" so there's at least more than one. Got to about 4:00 in the video.
Also can someone confirm whether or not spirits have descriptions like trophies or not? That will honestly affect it a lot for me. The 3D trophy model was nice I guess, but the description really tied to together. Also I don't think >>15675263 is every spirit. At the very least I know I saw Black Knight as a spirit and that's not in the lists there.
