I bet this has something to do with the legal restrictions about promoting German national pride and history. They never had the WW2 G.I. idolatry that we had. Hell, even their pre WW1 history was basically stripped from them. They don't have cool games because the people who made the novels, films and music were restricted from telling stories about war heroes, thus limiting them to talking about regular people, thus influencing then-future generations to make work that's also about regular people.

I don't know why MOBAs exist. They look like a job. I tuned into some big esports stream once and the commentators were acting like the hypest shit ever was happening on screen, but it was just a chink selecting skills and then clicking on bad guys. Neopets is more of a videogame than MOBAs.

There aren't any. You're not allowed to publicly brandish "anti-constitutional symbols" (just the swastika, pretty much, hammer and sickle are a-ok, go figure), but otherwise you can promote nationalism and history.

The only possible legal restrictions are related to glorifying or celebrating the Third Reich, but even that's not technically illegal.

There were written legal restrictions right after World War 2. They used to make loads of films about great men, even in the Republic. But because these films and this sense of national pride developed into National Socialism, they had to suppress it. It might not be illegal now, but you can't expect them to break what is an unwritten law. I'd be surprised if Der Alte Fritz is still considered the father of Germany.
