I figured I'd start one because I got pic related for 2 burgerbux today. For something made in 2001 I'm kind of amazed it still functions, albeit with some third party drivers called Strategic Engine. Anyone ever used one of these? No idea why it was marketed for strategy games when the setup is practically a flat joystick with 3 axis. It works alongside a mouse so I figure besides flyan it might be good for analog movement in FPS/TPS too.

Have you ever played FPS before? You don't need anything more than WASD and weapon switch keys bound around them. Two button mouse is more than enough.
ee5eec No.15304229

I think it would be a good alternative more especially for TPS, so you have mouse aiming still and analog movement like with a controller. I'm going to throw shit at it and see what feels right.

I prefer my devices to be cheap and reliable. This usually means stock stuff that don't have a lot of flair, and even though I've had a single keyboard for somewhere around eleven years, It just takes a little maintenance and care to keep the keys flush and moving like new. My mouse buttons keep wearing down/breaking so I get 5$ mice and replace them whenever they stop working, but the one I'm currently using is two years old.

can anyone recommend a good mouse pad? I got a rigid rubber one with a rubber bottom by logitech just a couple months ago, and now it's bent upwards in the fucking middle and sometimes it throws the mouse sensor off and it's annoying as fuck. a friend of mine had a foldable cloth one with rubber bottom by steelseries and it seemed pretty good, anyone got any experience with it?

That thing in the OP, it's not working out so well so far. Hard to get the damn thing to just work as a joystick. I heard it registers as a device properly on Linux, so I may look into that. A two dollar novelty that was OK for Doom at least. Still have to see how it goes with Freespace or something else flight related. Didn't fly so good in SimplePlanes because all it seems to do is emulate key presses with no analog input and Win 7 doesn't recognize it as a controller even with that rigged up software knowing it's there. I'm deep into getting it to behave properly at this point, going to attempt running Vjoy or something on top of the software to get it to behave like a joystick. Why do I do this instead of just getting out a joystick? Because I know I can find a solution or make one.

The ones for MTG have a rubber bottom on them. I haven't done much with yugioh since the scene is dead out here, but I have heard the mats are different just because in yugioh you have set places for everything and in magic you can put things more where you please.

I have a mouse pad I got from a phone kiosk 10 years ago and it's the best, I'm actually getting emotional over a fucking mousepad, it just hit me how old this thing is. I made the mistake of buying a steelseries cloth mouse and there was so much friction, it took effort to move the mouse. I like a surface where I can glide the mouse easily.

Am I the only creature on this planet that finds tenkeyless or 60% keyboards fucking disgusting?
I always feel like I don't have enough keys on my keyboard (especially since I like making macros for repetitive stuff), so when I see someone with these minimalist shits I keep asking myself how they manage to do stuff. You really gotta love doing 4-5 key shortcuts.
I tried adding a second keyboard just for macros, and Windows make this almost impossible, to the point where you need to use LuaMacros to intercept the second keyboard, save the command on a textfile and then hook the textfile to Autohotkey.
Is there any other way of doing this? I thought about building custom gamepad with 100 keys and then use autohotkey. Any other ideas?

I like it, but it might not be for everyone. I've been playing Dark Souls 3 on it and other stuff while trying out my new graphics card. It's better than an average controller especially if you have a game like FPSes or other mouse-controllable games. I need to get some drivers to work so I can play with it without the Steam client, which is an annoying and intentional flaw. You also may need to set controls up differently for different games, depending on what you're trying to play and if it's non-standard (common control schemes). It's pretty fine if the game is built with XBox controllers in mind though. Windows, it works fine, but Linux is giving me problems ever since Mint 18.3. I will need to try to fix it.

I can use 60% and smaller and can type pretty well on ortholinear now but for gaming tenkeyless is my sweet spot, room for mouse but still have function keys. The times you need a numpad are vastly outnumbered by the times you don't usually.
And if you really need one for work or something you can always get a separate numpad, they do make those.
