Let's talk about KOTOR and Jade Empire modding.
I'll start off with the obvious ones, being Restored Content mods (for KOTOR and KOTOR 2), M4-78 for KOTOR 2, and Jade Empire in Style for Jade Empire.
Now it's your turn, /v/. Recommend mods.

I think Jade Empire is the best Bioware game.
It's not great, but I still stand by this statement. I need more gook-themed RPGs in my life.

Im both glad and sad that there won't be a KOTOR 3 with current bioware and obsidean being cucks, they'd probably would fuck it up and try to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

What would be so amazing in a better industry would be to have more CRPGs out there exploring more eras in the Star Wars universe. Thoooousands of years of history to cover… In the actual industry we have, yeah. I wouldn't let anybody touch the setting with a so-and-so-amount-of-feet-long pole.

I had fun with both kotor games. Although I feel as if I might’ve rushed through 2 because I recall having no idea what the fuck was happening. I might have played it in small bursts but I really gotta play it again.

I want to replay KotOR 2, but for reasons I can't explain I just get irrationally angry when I think of KotOR 2's starting area. I think it was a mining ship or something? It had the knock-off HK-47.
Anyway, thinking about it sets me off. I don't even know why I have this reaction, because I remember very little specifically about the map and certainly nothing in particular that would lead me to despise it.

Just played Kotor 2 again recently.as a grey all the way through, dunno why I never thought to try that in any of my old runs, it sits the best out of all options. The Jedi are too pious and eager to inflict draconian punishment for the slightest transgression and the Sith are just needlessly edgelordy.
>>14890615
They ultra speed those in the Restored mod
>>14890549
Peragus is bad enough but Malachor is also fucking turgid (a real pisser as it's the end of the game) and Onderon is uninteresting/empty too, plus killing Talia is practically inevitable what with that fucking bod-ding accent of hers rousing the urge to purge in me.
Really Kotor 2 is not that great, the writing is good and Kreia is hands down the best (albeit obvious) character they've ever churned out, there is a great deal of potential in it what with the other Sithlads but so much wasn't realised and so many places feel starkly bare. You can tell they really put effort into Nar Shadarr and Duxn but the rest got sidelined and it suffers for it.

I can see why you say that even though it never bothered me nearly as much.
It got a bit tedious later but I liked going onto the Harbinger, walking among dead Republic troops and finding all the clues or descriptions of Sion. The atmosphere was great on that ship even more so when it suddenly springs alive again and starts firing at you. Until you take care of them by blowing up the asteroids.

>>14890805
It was definitely cool for me to fight Sion and get all of that child-therapy type dialogue out of him. It was very believable, and fitting with the theme of the game, that the Force can truly be a crutch - one that can keep the soul-dead animate. Light-handed metaphorical shit like that is my favorite type of writing to see in games. Too much else is completely without subtlety.

I must be retarded, because I really like Peragus and Telos. Peragus is kinda comfy imo, but both areas really help build anticipation to the eventual construction of your Lightsaber and freedom to go where you want.

You're not. The combat segment of Peragus is very easy if you pick certain Jedi powers, which keeps it from dragging on unreasonably long.
The only part of Telos I legit hate is when you go down to the surface and have to fight your way through waves of generic mercs. Not even Bao-Dur can make up for that slog.

Not to mention that you fight a small army all at once if you're not careful. Got a real bad surprise when I got into the merc camp the first time.

>All this hate for Peragus
It's like you fuckers can't enjoy some good atmosphere despite it being obvious that the bot murdered the miners and all. I can understand it being a chore to go through a second time but when you first start up the game, Peragus is one of the more memorable areas of the second game.
Also, mandatory Kreia did nothing wrong.

I have to agree with anon here. Even on the next playthroughs I liked Peragus because it was quiet and simple compared to the rest of the game. A nice little playground to test yourself before you are unleashed on the greater and greatly more complicated Galaxy.

She had the chance to let DAH FARCE and all of its followers die and rid the universe of these unnecessary power players, but instead chose to take on a new apprentice and ended up continuing the cycle.
Nihilus would have destroyed himself in a hot minute and Scion would have broken even with the Jedi leaving zero force abusers in the galaxy other than Kreia who could die of old age in peace.

She took on The Exile because she wanted revenge, first and foremost. She still had the pride of a Sith and all that junk, despite whatever bullshit she peddled herself to believe she was above it all. Killing the force could wait until after Nihilus and Sion were either dead or bending the knee again.
And she still dindu nuffin wong

Aside from the writing being clearly bioware-tier (especially Carth, yeah he has his reasons but it's straight up retarded how he acts and it makes even less sense after I realised he wasn't in on the big secret anyway) and the bullshit with LMAO YOU'RE KICKING BALDIES ASS? TOO BAD BE RAILROADED INTO BASTILLA BEING ABDUCTED AND RAPED!
Also
>shit, clunky ability selection while fighting
>enemy jedi having seemingly infinite force/stamina to spam health drain (you're fucked if you don't have force immunity)
>not having a force user (with the exception of droids) in your party severely fucks you as you have to pray your saving checks mean you don't get stunned/drained of all your life/ fucked 7 ways till Sunday unless you decide to buy a shoah's worth of plasma/ion/cryoban 'nades and mines to cheese every actually challenging encounter.
>You fuck your PC if you spec into ranged combat as Carth will drop most enemies anyway early on and melee will destroy opponents later on whereas going rifles feels far more lacklustre.
It had a cool dnd saving throw/stat system and was more rpg in that sense than anything else bioware put out after, but they could not balance classes worth a damn.

I'd say Dragon Age Origins was just as much of an RPG if not more than KOTOR, at least there any build was viable, and with the bird-eye view camera you saw all the enemies on screen, instead of being locked into a third person camera.

There's been a number of graphics mods and resolution/interface mods to come out for the KOTOR games in the past 2-3 years. We finally got one for KOTOR 1 that will force the menus and such to scale with the screen size when upping your screen resolution (so if playing on a high resolution, the menu isn't just a box taking up only half of the screen or so). The modders for these games are pretty dedicated, considering how dated the Xbox versions look the difference between modded KOTOR and the Xbox versions are like comparing a professional artist's work to Deviantart fanart.

Blow it out your ass. K1 has everything you'd expect from a SW game, including but not limiting to choking a motherfucker out and raising your banner as stormtroopers cheer your on. K2 is an ungodly mess of loose ends, bugs, pretentious writing for the point of pretentious writing and K1 memes.
>>14893766
You can bet you ass I'm going to disagree. On one hand you've got K1 which is alright. The story is decent enough is predictable from a mile away, the combats meh but works and they added some cute minigames for whatever reason. On the other you've got K2 that had most of the groundwork with the engine, system and generic assets cleared before they started and the only thing they objectively improved upon is the racing and the pazaak. The story's certainly heavier but it never leads anywhere, the combat's same shit except you've got a couple more OP toys to play with. The ending, the one and only ending at that, doesn't make a lick of sense.

Why do people hate Peragus so much? I found it pretty interesting, even if it's slow. That's not surprising, since it has more of an horror oriented Alien survival ambience. Wake up, find out everyone's dead, loot corpses and 'data logs' to find things out, the usual stuff.
004910 No.14898106
M4-78 is so fucking terrible. Last time I ever trust modders to do more than just tweak and fix existing content.
What the game really needs is good difficulty and tactics mods. I get that it's a dumbed down console RPG to begin with and that the only way to truly fix it would be to port it to some other engine somehow. But even something simple like boosting the level of enemies across the board would go a long way towards making all those upgrades and consumables actually useful.

I always disliked Telos more than Peragus. Telos is pretty boring until you get to go to the planet's surface.
