I actually got in during the queuethon that was the weekend and played it, the game looks ok, it still needs a lot of optimization, more combos for weapons and remove the dumb, "you need a certain level with the weapon master to try the axe/war pike lul" still something to play around for a bit untill monster hunter world comes out.
So far I really like the hammer, the priming system could use some tweaks, like make the animation a bit different when you prime your attacks but hitting giant lizards in the head with a big fuck off hammer is always fun in my book. Hunting horn when?

i played this for a short while during a very early beta. I enjoyed the gameplay but there wasnt that much content back then.
Im surprised they still havent fixed the godawful faces and hairs yet, that is the number one issue that everyone who has played it for even a second brings up. It feels like they are delaying it because "its not a core gameplay feature so its not urgent" so its gonna keep getting pushed down until release, and by then they are just gonna say "its been like this for so long, its fine, they have helmets anyway".
I remember strugging a lot making a character because you cant even make an OK or average looking character, all the options are ugly as hell, specially the hair options.

I tried it, other than the obvious SJW shit with "gender identity" and ugly humans the game plays decently, I'd still pick MH's position and timing based combat over this slightly faster and more I-frame reliant style though.
Also the gunhammer is actually quite complex mechanically, which is a nice surprise considering everything else is simplified for convenience.
It shows that somebody on the dev team cared about making a fun game, but it will forever be held back by its puke inducing visuals and agenda pushing. I read somewhere that the team is comprised of ex-Bioware, Riot Games and Blizzard employees, which would explain a lot.

I've been playing it for a a bit now and it's pretty solid, the fights are fun and the weapons have some interesting uses and combos. It's the regular monster hunter cycle of killing shit to craft shit in order to kill bigger shit.
My main complaints would be:
>Loading times
>Critters are only scenery and can't be attacked
>Menus can be shitty to navigate with a controller
>It's a tiny bit blurry
<Don't know if it's shit AA or something, I don't have the resolution downscaled
I haven't had any issues with lag, I get 60fps on high settings with a GTX 970

So I finally got around to downloading and playing this game. It's okay to be perfectly honest. I got to the real beaver monster that actually drops parts, crafted his set, and I am about to fight him again to upgrade it. I like how breaking stuff is guaranteed to drop parts. The combat is okay so far, nothing bad, but not great. The character creator is decent but the hairstyles are absolutely disgusting. No pompadour.
This game doesn't need a jump button at all. Maybe if there were aerial attacks and combos I would think differently. But I like the juice the combat has there is a nice meaty thwack following every attack and it feels satisfying. The only thing I dislike about it is the monsters don't react how you would expect. I hate how you can't remap the controller at all. Shit is AIDS. I want to male the control scheme more like monster hunter but it won't let me. Fucking stupid.
7/10 so far.

That's the third boss you're introduced to, the first few monsters aren't very punishing and can be facetanked but the game becomes really hard later on.
Avoidance becomes key later on.
The weapons do have combos and shit, if you don't use them your gameplay will suffer.
I enjoy the Sword and Warpike the most, Axe is okay but a bit awkward to use, Hammer is okay and the Chains are neat.

Decided to record one of my late-ish game hunts against a variant monster which is supposed to be stronger than the regular one, if anyone is interested.
I feel as if I should point out there is supposed to be a bleed mechanic during this fight but thanks to my armour skills I managed to completely ignore it, otherwise every hit I take would inflict a bleed on me and make me take double damage on my next hit.

This game feels like absolute shit to play. The monsters are too aggressive, the dodging will rarely get you out of harms way, and the necessary combos to do any sort of damage are too long, or the charge time for meters is too long to get any satisfaction from the combat.
Rolling is almost entirely useless, there is a jump button but there is very little reason to use it. Climbing feels even shittier than Monster Hunter Freedom 2. The sword feel the worst. That little spam combo you do takes too long to pull out and by the time you get it out the monster is hip checking you, AMD in the event you do get it out it doesn't even fill your meter. Filling the meter only gives you extra damage, and doesn't change combat in any meaningful way. It's shit the whole game is shit. Just emulate Monster Hunter.
