This one is slightly more promising because apparently the Kickstarter is only supposed to cover 40% of the game's funding with the rest contributed by partnerships, so Swery will have people he has to answer to. And there's no wildly ambitious stretch goals, nothing beyond a Switch port that they're not going to reach anyway.

It looks like they want to take all the weird RPG elements of Deadly Premonition and make them the main focus of the game. Eating, sleeping, drinking, playing dress-up, keeping pretty, doing oddjobs, taking pictures of cats and uploading them to the internet for money, etc. etc. I hope they can actually follow through on their shit because it sounds like a very ambitious open-world project and even the Kickstarter admits they don't know if they can make the proper NPC simulation system they want, and if they can't they'll just re-use Deadly Premonition's.

It seems reasonable and grounded in reality for a Kickstarter and for a Swery game but I still expect promises to be left unfulfilled and complications to arise. Also

The Kickstarter is over. Seems they had a big influx of cash at the end, with a total of about $800,000. They fell short of the Switch version stretch goal but if they're as interested in doing it as they said they are, I think they'll try to do it anyway. They're also planning post-campaign donations but who gives a shit about that. Now it's just a matter of waiting and hoping that they don't fuck it up horribly, but considering they're making it on fucking Unity of all things, I'm not entirely confident.
