Ah, never thought about that. But, also remembering my playthrough of Splinter Cell 3D, they did that too. However, the conversations tended to be very "brief" while happening throughout the levels (Only about 30 seconds at most), they only happened at "key moments", and they didn't take control away from the player so you could still stealth and get into action while people were talking and conversing. In addition, as for the cutcenes (Quick question: wouldn't it be more appropriate to call them "cinematics" instead?) they didn't last more than a minute of two and left all of the "cool stuff" for the player to pull off in-game.

Devil's advocate, I've encountered more than a few instances where I've managed to progress considerably faster than the devs assumed I would, resulting in dialogue interrupting itself, or being drowned out by a gunfight.
Example: ME: Andromeda, a case study in how to make a terrible fucking game no one wants to pay for, managed to actually have dialogue complete almost half the time it fucking started because I didn't feel compelled to park the fucking car or just stop moving every time someone started talking.
Forcing the player to progress at a certain speed during exposition (or tying it entirely to a cutscene) may be less immersive or whatever, but they seem to be harder for the dev to fuck up.

I just turned off the wireless on my 3DS because having it on sucks up half the battery life. And, I'm considering clearing out the "friends lists" I have on game services I use because none of the people on there I actually know. I just added them there to play multiplayer with at the time or trade games. I can't confirm it but the gossip around here is usually right. Probably because of the location. They're sandwiched between the park (which is big and nice) and the fancy restaurants. Right by the water, and they're putting in a new park in the rich people area soon too, which is also near the condos. Keep in mind this is a town where most of the work is low paying unskilled labour. We can't afford that. The best jobs around here unless you have a good degree are in the city but it's hard to get in unless you have family working there.
