>Everyone worships Goldeneye when 007 TWINE was the better game

Not trying to shit on Goldeneye, but if you haven't played this fantastic fucking game, you really should. I never see anyone talk about it.

47de37 No.14605221

it looked a little mediocre and I'm going to need more of a sell than "it's better than the really good one and also nobody talks about it!"

eb55e4 No.14605224

>>14605221

You could download it and play it within the span of a minute or two, there's not much to sell for a n64 game, really.

It really really shines in the multiplayer but the Singleplayer is a god tier experience too. I keep 4 controllers plugged into my N64 at all times, and TWINE is one of our most commonly played games.

47de37 No.14605239

>>14605231

okay so what does it do better in terms of SP? My friends and I wouldn't be interested in an n64 MP shooter.

>>14605224

nah

>okay so what does it do better in terms of SP?

It's a really polished game that pushed the system's limitations a lot. The controls are also a lot better and there's lots of configs. It's a comfy atmospheric experience all around. There's also a large focus on Michael Bay explosions but they don't interrupt gameplay very much.

Also don't play the PS1 version, it's a different game that's nowhere near as good.

except TWINE was mediocre and Goldeneye is the objectively better game.

833985 No.14605508

It had more interesting uses for Bond gadgets than Goldeneye. That's about the only nice thing I can say about it though.

Here's an actually original and intriguing multiplayer game worth playing with friends for the N64

31cb66 No.14605982

I agree OP that game was vastly superior to Goldeneye, but it also came out much later and built on what GE did. GE also had better mission variety

ed3409 No.14606153

Genuinely good game for its time, the multiplayer with the guided rocket launcher was a nightmare with four people. Single player missions were also decent. I never finished it, I kept drowning in the sub last mission.

GoldenEye was just a prototype for Perfect Dark, the spiritual successor to GE.

Also Nightfire for the PS2/GC is good.

Best movies:

>From Russia With Love

>On Her Majesty's Secret Service

>The Living Daylights

>Casino Royale

Honourable mentions to Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me and Licence to Kill.

People only liked goldeneye for muh multiplayer.

Nightfire for the PS2 is god tier.

>forgetting about license to kill

000000 No.14607992

It released after Perfect Dark, so I don't think I even knew TWINE had multiplayer.

TWINE had a great single player campaign, except for the final mission in the sub full of water. That level kind of sucked. The opening was great, in a bank iirc. I played the first half of that game many times. Goldeneye was faster paced, more open and simple, so I think I preferred that game.

TWINE has a special spot in my memory because I started playing it the day my mom went psycho for no reason and left :) I was eleven and it was right before Christmas.

c2958a No.14608244

This was one of my favorite games for the N64. It was also the first game I played with voice acting or maybe Spyro/Parappa, but it was close so it was quite impressive to me.

>>14605239

>My friends and I wouldn't be interested in an n64 MP shooter

Why not? Videogames are for enjoyment, and doing anything with my friends can be enjoyable for the most part.

Ah, I see your a man of culture as well.

8e940c No.14608583

It's probably the change in developers as to why it's so overlooked - going from Rare to EA is a bit like (or rather, was a bit like) going from a bespoke poultry kitchen to KFC, there's a stigma no matter the quality of what comes out.

>saw this game in a catalog and wanted it

>got Perfect Dark for my birthday

>forgot about it until this very moment

>goldeneye gets 60 FPS+mouse mod

>TWINE gets nothing

True suffering.

a997ea No.14609056

It was pretty good but Perfect Dark was better. It's not really hard to be better than Goldeneye, Goldeneye was a trailblazer with a lot of room for improvement.

Didn't the GE/PD M+KB emulator bundle come with a virus?

fa344c No.14615803

Speaking of 007 games - GoldenEye Source gamenight when?

5f4a03 No.14618660

I got stuck on the villa mission as a kid. I tried it again a couple of years ago and didn't really have an issue clearing it. Also, throwing sticky grenades at doors to make them explode instantly was always fun in multiplayer.

6195f1 No.14621463

>>14609257

It was the "Mouse Injector" program that came bundled with it that sprang antivirus alarms. The updated version includes the injector within the emulator itself, so it shouldn't be an issue anymore (and makes it actually work fine on Loonix)
