I feel this way as well. It's sad how everything's being arabized in the middle east, at least Copts, Assyrians and Armenians have resisted. Well number 1 would be dealing with the fake refugees. Deport them all, because they came here illegaly. Also I wouldn't have any policy of paying them to leave, because that is still incredibly naive and misunderstands the incentives in place of why they come here. To that effect I would stop all payments, monetary or otherwise, to fake refugees (refugees who crossed a safe country). Most of them would self-deport, but of course you want to prevent a riot and that stuff, so you better come prepared by mobilizing the army and police.

When it comes to marriage, I think the best long-term solution would be to restore free private contracts between people. Marriage is just another millenium old contract between a man and a woman. It affects the amount of promotions that can happen in your country. There is a huge difference between promoting intellectuals at low admin efficency and only getting like 5 intellectuals a month and getting 60 a month, because your crats just allow for that many promotions a month to take place.

In low literacy countries with low admin efficency you have such low promotion chance, that sometimes just not promotions at all are happening in your country.

It's not even really poor vs. rich. It's lots of accepted pops (leading to easy high admin) vs. lots of non-accepted. This is why Japan becomes a great power while Ottomans/Austria eats shit, the latter has no admin efficiency and therefore no promotion. Even a 50+ year head start in tech can't overcome shitty admin efficiency for the AI, and the player has to do fairly drastic stuff like promoting 4% or more bureaucrats in their few states with accepted pops.

Realistically there's no big difference between having 2% bureaucrats in 50% of your country and 1% in 100%. Even with countries that have no problems getting 100% admin (like France or Prussia), the powergame way to do it ASAP is to raise in capital to 2-3% because its quicker to get your 1% nationwide that way than it is to literally raise bureaucrats everywhere in dumbfuck nowhere to 1%. The issue with vanilla is that roughly 90% of your damage at that point comes from backline artillery/planes, but because the combat engine doesn't keep them in the backline (like how EU4 has broken infantry replaced by undeployed infantry rather than the artillery immediately moving up), the ideal composition ends up being 100% artillery or planes after your initial line breaks (+recon or siege if needed). This is assuming we're talking about a doomstack situation where a huge battle lasting months is going on in a single province. If its a short skirmish battle where your front line won't break, load your frontline with an appropriate meatshield that is less expensive (infantry) or does slightly more damage (armor).

The most important thing is to always try to fight defensive battles, since artillery and planes do so much more damage on the defensive (also forts suck). If you have to act offensively then you need to fight more sneakily, at least in MP.

Also in very long battles just make sure to rotate out damaged armies. Reinforcement rates for armies is crazy high in late game so long as you have spare equipment.

Ohh, and watch your generals. The game is fucking stupid about who takes command in battle. A 6 attack/1 defence general takes precedence over a 2 attack/3 defence general because they have greater total modifiers. Managing manual leader assignment is tedious but important.

I'm playing Distant Worlds Universe and i don't know what the hell i'm doing wrong. I tried playing on easy and i stomp the AI, but the moment i try playing on normal i get shat on. It doesn't matter what i do, i always end up stagnating and i fall behind almost every other race.

It seems i can't expand as fast as they do, i can't build as many ships, my fleets are trash no matter the technology, the AI somehow wrecks my shit on planets and conquer them with no issues, while my fleets won't even attemp a landing even if i have troop transports and troops. Are you lowering your tax rate to 0% until planets have capped population, then maxing it out? This is essential for credits, and population determines max research capacity.

If you have good cash and research you should wreck the AI on normal pretty easily just by making good tech choices. Beeline the wonders that give empire-wide bonuses like +research, +growth and +income. You can intentionally lopside your labs in order to prioritize one tech group over the others.

I've never really tried automated ship design, it might fuck you over if you max out one weapon path and it still dumps in shitty weapons of another path. It also probably doesn't keep your ships big, bigger ships are basically always better and you want to redesign them to be at the ship size cap with every new increase.

Problem is - i don't get that far. Stagnation begins very soon, and by the time i have around 1500 firepower score the other empires have over 5000. Other scores are pretty much the same. All 3 are the problem (i think). The cashflow is enough to keep me positive but not enough to sustain a war if i have to purchase ships often. The research falls behind very quickly OR the AI simply builds better ships than the automated design, and that's only combat. As for other research i can't really say so i'm only guessing, however i do see wonders being build fairly often while i'm still picking up early-ish techs.

Resources are the most evident because i can't keep up the expansion rate the AI has. 1-2 hours in i can be 10 planets behind my neighbours, with 1/3rd the military ships and 1/10th of the economy. It's strange as ship production seems to be fairly smooth, and constructions ships are constantly building. There's the occasional resource shortage but it doesn't last for long, and never a huge queue of ships with missing components.

The game should be set up with no power difference between civilizations but i'll double check. So far i haven't see anyone clearly ahead with a huge advantage from the start, only after a while. Maybe i'm just shit :\

That said here is an even weirder point of view. In Bulgaria we learn of the Byzantine Empire (Vizantiiska Imperia in Bulgarian). Bulgaria has a lot of history with it, after all. I am not an expert mod writer myself and I think of myself more as a player. So my mods are written in a way that it doesn't give any big advantage to Greece. So no extra prestige bonus or lowering the requirements of certain stuff in most cases.

Back then HFM did not exist, so I copied the vickymod decisions to rename Greek territory.

I adjusted the byzantine decision that it removed the cores of all greek minors, except for Cyprus and Pontus. I gave Byzantines Armenians, Georgian Assyrian as accepted.

I also removed the coptic religion from the game completly and replaced every single mention of them with Orthodox. So every single coptic POP that exists is orthodox.

I also made all Assyrians Orthodox and not Catholic.

I also gave Greece the Tea decision of the Turks. (Some provinces in Pontus can get the tea RGO. No reason why Greece shouldn't be allowed to do it, if they own it.)

I also adjusted all the dismantelment and events that involve Greece to also work with the Byzantine tag.

I also gave Greece the ability to use the claim the holy land CB, because it was unfair that southern Slavs were able to get it, but not Greeks. Btw this was back when the CB wouldn't disappear after using it, so every GP constantly declared war on each other to claim the holy Land.

I also gave Constantinople the holy city modifier. (I really wanted to give it a LF of 40, but it felt like cheating).

Oh and the unite with Greece decisions also work with Byzantium and forming BYZ doesn't give an cores on land just because they are either of greek or turkish culture.

I also extended the end date to 9999 and adjusted all parties to also get that end date.

I also gave Byzantium the Greek Parties and I looked through all the party files of other greek minors or other states to add generic parties to Greece, so it would have a reactionary party that has jingoism for example.

To elaborate further without dropping too many whole text blocks from the wiki article, it was a utopian idea spawned by Hermann Sorgel to ease the strain of overpopulation & international strife in Europe by creating a gigantic, unified industrial effort & population release gasket through massive land reclamation through this gigantic Gibraltar dam project, as well as the creation of some absolutely gigantic manmade freshwater lakes/inland seas in North Africa. An Earthborne terraformation, essentially. On the note of climate change, Sorgel had this to say.

It's a novel timeline for how sheerly pessimistic it is, but is really nothing more than the taking of alarmist althistories like Man in the High Castle or Swastika Night, making them more mundane, stopping the conquests at Eurasia, and having the fascists trip over their own feet in spite of having been infused with enough competence and destruction of disunity- the contribution of the Allies' new failings notwithstanding- to win in the first place. Axis dysfunction multiplies rather than lessening. The author assumes that no one will actually seek to build a peacetime economy before leaping onto the megaprojects, and also that the megaprojects will be a net drain in spite of the massive amount of labor & materials required and thus jobs created as the kinks are worked out. And that this will happen right as the Germans clamp down in the East. It's founded on dubious contemporary history, the usual canards, and on everyone else not having their shit together while the Germans and the Axis don't bother to get theirs together even as far as OTL because everyone else folds like a house of cards so that it isn't necessary. I suppose the fact that it will allow for the evidently author-despised Ultranational Socialism to dick everyone over, and possibly under very narrow circumstances even do so without provoking a nuclear exchange & postapoc content, is nice. Himmler has a LARP state chewing on France, Heydrich can become Fuhrer, there's a spartanist spookmaster in charge of the Caucasus, and others I'm sure. But I recall that the Fatherland mod more or less already did everything this mod does back in Darkest Hour, and did so from an immediate post-short war start in the late '40s.

The reason for population trasfers was to prevent future wars in Europe. Hitler's casus belli stemmed from having german minorities in Poland and Czechoslovakia. So those countries (and others) deported the whole minority to Germany, so as to remove said casus belli. German here. We actually didn't want to import the Turks. Nobody wanted them here.

But when we established our guest worker program, the USA forced us to extend them to Turkey. Then later, they also forced us to give citizenship to them, instead of shipping them back. All because the USA wants good relations with Turkey, because of a geopolitical obsession to potentially be able to trap the USSR in the black sea.

Document 4: Not found yet, exact content unknown. This is frequently referred to as the Gesamtplan Ost, meaning the comprehensive plan for the East and was created in December 1941. It furthered the plan for German settlements in the Soviet Union and the General Government and included not only a concrete area but most likely also the first estimation of costs for this plan.

Document 5 here linked as facsimile from the German Bundesarchiv. Created in June 1942 by the Institute for Agrarian Studies it dealt with the legal, economic, and geographical basis for the envisioned plans for settlements and once again mentioned both the displacement of large number of people as well as refined the cost for the planned undertaking. It states that 31 million people were to be deported to Siberia or killed and that 5.65 million German settlers were to take their place while the cost for the undertaking would be as high as 66 million Reichsmark.

Document 6 from September 1942, the so called "Comprehensive Settlement Plan" envisioned an even grander future of German settlements in the Soviet Union and the General Government. Claiming 330.000 km² with 360.100 German farms on it, it spoke of 12 million German settlers needed, deporting or killing 30 million people, and an estimated cost for the whole project of 144 million Reichsmark.

As you can probably glean from the succession of these documents, plans for the Germanization of the East got progressively grander over time, with more cost, more German settlers, more people deported or killed. With these mounting numbers of settlers, deportees and victims, and money, the crucial aspect of the GPO comes into play: Like the Hungerplan in the Soviet Union, the GPO was never fully implemented, only in very small parts.

Because of rising cost, effort, and the course of the war, planning for the GPO stopped and all started projects in connection to the GPO came to a halt after 1942, when the Nazis decided instead to use their available resources and manpower for the war and the Holocaust. The latter had been part of the GPO since in all its iterations, it called for the removal of 100% of Jews from all these areas but especially given the problem of finding and outfitting millions of German settlers in the middle of a war, the Nazi leadership decided to focus on the removal, and from summer 1941 on, killing of the Jews.

What was implemented of the GPO never amounted to the full extent that was planned:

From Document 1, what was called the first Nahplan, the Zwischenplan, and the second Nahplan were executed. In accordance with these plans, Jewish and non-Jewish Poles were deported from the annexed territories of Poland and the Wartheland to General government in three big actions in 1939, 1940, and 1941. We can trace the deportation of at least 280.000 people, the Jews being forced into Ghettos, the Poles either brought to Germany for work and forced to relocate to a new home, mostly urban centers in the General Government. A certain number of the latter group was also killed in the Operations Tannenberg, Intelligenzaktion, and the A-B Action, a series of Einsatzgruppen operations that aimed at eliminating the "carries of the Polish nation" (intelligenzia, priests, politicians) and which amounted in its total of people killed to about 100.000.

From Document 5, two of the planned settlement centers were partially realized in two areas: Zamosc in Poland and Shytomyr in Ukraine. The Aktion Zamosc is probably the most famous of all the actions in connection with the GPO. It was started in November 1942 and intended to be seen as a showcase for the German future envisioned for after the war. The area as well as the point in time was selected because the Operation Reinhard, the organized murder of Jews from Poland, was in full swing at the time and for Himmler, German settler policy and the Holocaust went hand in hand when it come to showcasing what a German Europe would look like. Running under the auspices of Odilo Globocnik – the man in charge of the Operation Reinhard – about 100.000 Poles were driven out of their homes. Most of them managed to flee but 51.000 were deported or resettled. These 51.0000 were classified in four groups, according to their "racial worth", two groups were intended for "Germanization", one for deportation to Germany as forced laborers (the biggest group of the lot), and the final group for resettlement in villages that been previously inhabited by Jews, now killed in the death camps of Operation Reinhard. Originally intended for 60.000 German settlers, only 9.000 Germans could be found to settle there and the Nazis were forced to abandon the project in 1943 due to Partisan activity. A similar story on a much smaller scale unfolded in Shytomyr in 1942 and 1943 near Himmler's headquarters there. 15.000 Ukrainians were deported, mostly as forced labor to Germany, and 10.000 Volksdeutsche German settlers brought there.
