>but with puzzles
Puzzles are gameplay OP, and I don't really have a problem with adventure games as long as they actually have gameplay and aren't "walk here and press button to progress the story, and maybe occasionally something will branch the story" which is just a (usually badly written) shittier imitation of a visual novel and not a game. Yume Nikki didn't really have anything except for Nasu, the meaningless puzzles just served as padding to get you to explore the boring and repetitive maps to get to less boring ones and get you invested just in time for the ending. While the ending was interesting and the sound and visuals were comfy, I would never replay it, unlike actual adventure games.
Action adventure > adventure games though. I wish there were more of them. RPG mechanics bore me and only seem to serve as artificial difficulty.
>Girls play Zelda
In my experience, girls play whatever is popular and lolsonerdy. This tends to be the more casual Nintendo games, any anime games, whatever ecelebs are playing, mobage, etc. In addition, tumblrinas play anything with homos or a leftist message. It (((just so happens))) that walking simulators tend to have these last two.
