No, Techraptor really fucked up here. Any journalistic website that not only straight up purges old articles but won't clearly explain why they are being purged is shady as fuck. Everyone is correct in calling them out on it. My theory is consumerism.
Consider the idea that people are (((led))) to the idea that updated things are always better than their predecessors. Unless you have the latest item or product, your social value is diminished. Gamers have (as previously pointed out by the likes of Milo) had zero social capital. With using technology being increasingly considered acceptable, and by inference, gaming as well, people wanting social value (indie clique, games journos,etc) are using the new social capital found in the acceptance of technology to promote themselves and diminish the efforts of others to do so. Unfortunately for these pretenders to the throne, gaming requires skill (which they lack) and a positive attitude toward the medium which they do not have due to lack of skill). The lack of skill by the usual suspects (SJWs, indie clique, games journos, etc) stops them from being able to look competent when playing older skill based games (as pointed out by >>13739822 (checked)).
Combine the social (((need))) to have the latest shiney with tech journalists promoting ease of (or the eradication of) gameplay (which exposes their lack of skill) then you get a situation where only those who played the vanilla (or heard about it and want to play it) are willing to promote it against the tide of consumerist crap.

That depends on whether those companies still operate under the same model despite being international, but in part yes. You shouldn't forget that it's still the owner and shareholders that dictate the direction the company will be going, so they can easily set a deadline or set a specific requirement the employees have to fulfil. For example, the employees themselves working at Konami would have no say in making pachinko games but they could much more strongly influence how it is done. What weapons are you going to play? I've been using sword and double swords for a little bit and they're really neat, but nothing is as satisfying as the axe. The low stance is surprisingly fast to build status effects and the medium stance puts out solid damage. The only downside is that its special moves aren't very flashy, but the throw that sends people across the room or over cliffs is super satisfying.
If you're going to ninja/magic try and be responsible. They're both absurdly game breakingly overpowered and you'll ruin the game if you aren't careful.
