Start by getting your hands under you. Keep drawing what you want as much as you can. Add to your imagination works a few daily assignments like drawabox or ctrl paint's beginner stuff. Croquis cafe on yt has a great mini series about how to quickly catch poses and how to block in forms. For anatomy, Hogarth and vilppu are hard to beat,and they don't talk down to their audience like Loomis does constantly.
Above all, don't burnout trying to git gud immediately. It's a journey, not so much a destination.

I'm dabbling with the idea of doing commissions, but I have no idea what my art's worth. I've got a huge case of "man, that guy's cake is way better than mine", to the point that I don't feel confident in offering anything at all. But then I see people with way, way less developed art also turning around commissions daily.
Rather than asking artists what they charge, would anyone who has paid for a commission mind posting the art and what you paid for it? I need to get my bearings, because right now all I've got is gut feelings that aren't helpful.

There are plenty of footprints for this kinda thing online tho. Start by lurking patreon, then start going to artists' streams that match what you plan on drawing, and see not only their methodology and turnaround times, but also get to pick their brain on the subject. They might also take you under their wing and stream with you and do the whole "clique" thing.
If you want any sort of specifics, it'd do you well to at least state what you can and will draw/paint/sculpt. I'm just assuming at this point you're gonna be drawing low grade porn. If you want to be someone who draws scenery, you need a very different approach.

Worth a shot requesting this I suppose. My sci-fi campaign has a made-up alien hyena creature that is one of my character's pets and lacks an actual design, if anyone wants to help out with that. First pic is probably the best example I could use as a reference. Doesn't have to be colored if you don't want to, I'm just copy-pasting what I've got. To sum up the most descriptive parts

>underbelly is much softer and lighter in color tone, as are “ears” and tail fur, bone-white in color
>sharp focused eyes that face forward, yellow in color with black sclera, has secondary heat sensory organs in thin slits under eyes
>has "ears" similar to a horned owl like pic 2, consisting of long featherlike fur sweeping back along two ridges on top of her head (actual ears are hidden on the front and side of said ridges within the fur)

If long, do you want them to be thin and kind of wispy like a caracal's tips, or denser more like a typical canine's ears (this is likely if they can be folded like a canine's)?

The nose I drew looks a little derpy, I can make it thinner and more narrow like a snake's if you want that, or suggest another style. Personally I think the snout needs to be more tapered.

The fur would show more. Guess I meant that the back would look more bulky overall. The fur itself is thin and short yeah. I pictured a boxer dog's fur in my head but a horse works too.

I should mention first, there's only 2 of the feathery looking ears, not 4 of them. As for the feathery fur, it would be long and curving back like the owl's does, so definitely dense on both the head and the tail. There's some range of movement, but besides being able to twitch intensely or tuck back, not like an actual dog's ears are.

I meant how the snout would jut out long like a canine's does, but the top part of it slopes a bit from the scalp to the nose like in the reference pic. A snake style nose sounds like it would work, so sure, let's see how that looks if you don't mind.

Something else I should have been more specific, apologies. The feathery fur is on the sides while leaving the top and bottom of the tail in just the short fur. Similar to pic related, only both sides would be even in length (and long at that) and more dense, like the feathery fur on the ears would be. There wouldn't be any spike, I just meant a point like ending in a thin point. She doesn't attack with her tail, just distracts and dazzles using the longer fur That said though, I think you should definitely instead take that spike idea and put it on the tip of the tongue instead, the tongue being able to slash and even stab into stuff.

Could you make the body length a little longer? Maybe two paw lengths longer would work I think. I think the claws should also be slightly larger as well. Last thing I can suggest for now is make the collar darker, since right now it looks more pink than purple. Other than what I've already said, I'm liking what I'm seeing. The area between her shoulders and her hind could be more bulky then, yeah. Head size seems fine for now, though maybe make the neck thicker if getting rid of the second set of feather ears makes it look thin. As for the head colors, the lighter fur would be found on the bottom jaw, yeah, while the top jaw would be grey. No eyebrows however, scale or otherwise, so the area around the eyes would be grey like the rest.

For anyone interested, I changed up the look of this character. During a game, he ditched the highwayman getup to avoid suspicion and switched to a military motif after helping to build up a local militia. He's still a big ratman, but his look has changed up, as well as signature weapon. The game also went into a more pulp sci-fi vibe, so there's that too. I might be going a bit overboard here.

I know from this angle it would look goofy if it was fully shown, so maybe draw in the brow more prominently? (As in the area above the eye, not an actual eyebrow. I fear that having eyebrows on an alien canine type creature would look incredibly furfaggy.)

So, I added in some colour, havent cleaned up the lines where other colours meet yet, its mostly just preliminary testing of colurs to see if they are the right ones you wanted. Also, You mentioned both dark sandy brown and slate grey as fur colours on the back, not sure how you want them to interact or where to go.
Lastly, how do you want the fur to colour on the paws? Darker pads with the cream fur above, or one of the other colours on the outer limbs? What colour of claws?

The thin groove under the eye? I think it should be a little more thick, and a bit more in front of the eye but behind the nostril still, working similar to a pit viper's infrared sensory I imagine. Guess I accidentally made my alien hyena have snake traits too at this point, but oh well, snakes are cool too.

The example colors you got so far look good, though I would ask that you make the ear and tail fluff lighter in color. The bone-whiteness on the belly and lower jaw are still fine however. As for specific placement, the top part of the head, snout and upper jaw would be grey, while the bottom jaw and under the neck is the lighter tone. I do like the look of that strip between the ears however, so that could be brown instead. For the most part it's mostly the grey fur that's found, with the brown fur found as spots behind the eyes, in large diamond shaped splotches on the shoulders and middle of the back, and smaller uneven strips found on the fore legs and the hind of the body on top of the grey fur. There would also be a second set of red stripes starting from the middle of the back and to the side of the hind as well. (I like the contrast of the red around the grey fur, so having just grey fur between the stripes would work fine.) Just about all of the under belly would be the bone white tone you already have, with some of the inside leg fur being the same too. Lastly, the main part of the tail (the uncolored part, not the fluff) would be grey, with one or two more sets of red stripes in the middle, whichever you think might look better.
As for the paws, I think since her body is mostly dark colors, then darker claws would make sense when it comes to a canine type creature, if not outright black claws. The paw pads themselves would be darker colors too, if also just black.

Hello again, drawfriends! I am looking to get more art of this lovely houtengeki illustration; I am using her for a main antagonist in my tabletop game - an evil, though not wholly unempathetic snake god priestess/cultist. The last thread, some wonderful fellow made the top right image with our nifty macguffin, a really lovely interpretation of the original art.
She's prideful and arrogant, a zealous devotee of her god - she will happily blood sacrifice someone, ie the bottom left image - and she takes wicked pleasure in demonstrating the power her patron has bestowed her. She's visceral and intense and takes great joy in the physical; with certain spells and whatnot, she grows physically powerful, and she deeply enjoys exercising that strength on adventurers and lackeys and innocents alike.
Any other references you need, please ask. Snakes as a motif fit, as does this mishmash aztec/egyptian theme. Magical staff, ritual daggers, other mystical stuff all fit. Elegant poise or visceral violence should usually be the tone, though religious fervor would work as well.
I listed two refs I'd like to see, but beyond that, go nuts. Thank you!

I'm just going to be blunt and say I mostly wanted to lewd a character that's been an ongoing macguffin/mid-boss for a while. Basically I loaded up an NPC girl with cursed artifacts and stuck her in the Blatant Harry Potter Ripoff setting I had made, with the premise being the players (who were all casters) had to figure out why the school was slowly becoming a spawning ground for undead.

My request is more for faces than for a full person. I had the idea for in my campaign there being goblins where their build and appearance is based on their alignment. So if a goblin was lawful good, he would have a lawful good face, and etc. So I wanted to have 9 faces (which can be simplistic, I don't really need too much detail). Lawful good being a near human appearance with a little goblin differences and the look of a hero, lawful evil being near human but with an obvious evil look. Chaotic good looking like a goblin but with a more appealing to look at face, and chaotic evil looking like the usual disgusting evil form. If you want just a name to run with, I use and like azirevpn. Their payment system is nicely done, their scripts on their site are super minimal, I don't get lots of big company hits from peerguard using going in the homepage, and everything else lined up with my wants. Does that mean it's the best? I don't know. I've only used free vpn sites before this, and I know well enough to say you don't want free if you want any level of security. There's quite a few great vpn hosts out there though. I was surprised by how many were left over after I got all my prerequisites wrote out. I also looked into this a couple years back and haven't researched since. In that time more companies have more than likely popped up. I'd assume there's quite a few now that could be cheaper while having all the same features. It'd behoove you to do a little research yourself.
