Let's share some Japanese Tabletop RPG games, as the subject says it.

Only JP&P games I've played in are Ryuutama and Tenra Bansho Zero and both are incredibly fun.

Other than Golden Sky Stories, MAID RPG, and Double Cross, what else is out there that's been translated enough to be playable?

There was a thread here for that one game where you play as undead lolis in a post-apocalyptic world filled with undead monstrosities. Can't remember what it was called for the life of me.

Afraid not… and after reading through the whole book, I can't help but feel a little disappointed at the quality of the whole thing. Too few illustrations, poorly worded examples on some of the rules.. The system really deserves better.

The whole thing feels kind of poorly put together, like they just assumed "make it up yourself with your friends!" would smooth out the wonkiness of the journey rules. And instead of making the journey rules work better, they just tell you to narrate it more, so at some point, someone was aware that "Condition Check >>> Journey Check >>> Camp Check >>> Repeat" was not exactly all that engaging.

Even in their example adventure (which is kind of a mess too) they illustrate a concept which was not covered by the rules.

>You're traveling and it's nice and sunny (easy travel check)

>And it starts raining later in the day

>Rainy weather increases the difficulty

>Do you make another travel check?

>Does the first check cover the whole day?

>The check for the next day is harder because of the rain

>But you made your travel check already and you don't make more than one per day

>….

>???

And what happens if your travels take you from one easy terrain into another harder one part-way through a day's travels? Or what if you stop and get into a fight with some monsters who injure or knock out one of your party members? Wouldn't that affect everyone's checks?.. Shit's wonky.

 No.308284

>>308268

The way I use them, the travel check is a summary of the whole days travel.

>You're traveling and it's nice and sunny (easy travel check)

>And it starts raining later in the day

For how much of the travel? Remember, the travel checks are decided by the DM. Imagine the day is over, how much of the travel did that rain affect? Was it just small shower during it or did it make the travel more difficult/uncomfortable? The former would mean sunny weather, the later is rainy weather for the travel check.

>And what happens if your travels take you from one easy terrain into another harder one part-way through a day's travels?

If the terrain is difficult for a big part of the day, make it factor into the check. If not, for example, you have to climb some jagged rocks at the end of a days journey, just make it a general check.

>Or what if you stop and get into a fight with some monsters who injure or knock out one of your party members?

Checks that are made, are made. Unless you get attacked right in the morning.

I think the problem is that it might have been the authors first RPG and it seems like many of those problems never came up to him. I rmember something like this from a devblog or forum post or something. I guess he either never wrote some parts down that he thought were clear and/or people just homebrewed them.

There's magical burst, which wasn't made by a japanese but the guy that translated Maid: The RPG. However, I think you could run a dark Madoka-esque game with Double Cross, Shinobigami or Double Cross. Id don't know much about DX but you can ask me about the other two if you are interested.

You can also try Golden Sky Stories if you want to play something like Kiki's Delivery Service. Or Maid, if you want to run Magical Witch Punie-chan/Puni Puni Poemi/Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?/Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chanYes, all at once.

Just so you know, I meant TENRA, Shinobigami or Double Cross for Madoka. You might also get the same feeling with Necronica bu the crunch is tied to the setting in such a way that refluffing it would be very difficult.

Magical Burst/Fury is meant to emulate the tragedy and struggles and suffering of being meguca. Not Japanese either, but the guy who made it worked on the english versions of Maid RPG and Golden Sky Stories.

OVA certainly has enough of the right elements to do a proper Magical Girl Game, though. With the right GM and mindset, it's easily doable. Also, because I like OVA and think more people should give it a shot, here's a reminder to go to this thread ( >>288229 ) and read a quick rundown of the whole system.

There's definitely a cultural tinge to some of these games. The best way I can describe it is that they want every to play the way they are expected to play, sometimes leading less room for improvisation or creative solutions.

Also this >>312709 it doesn't seem like they expect to play single campaigns that last years and years. Tenra Bansho Zero, for example, expects each session to be it's own self-contained story.. And then you make a new set of characters and run a different game next time you sit down to play. When you sit down, the GM gives you a story, everyone plays that story with some wiggle room for dramatic roleplaying, then you wrap things up, and that's it until the next time you can get everyone together.

Though, like I just said that's mostly true for the games that have been translated. Ryuutama has longer campaigns though. You can also re-use your characters in the other games, like in some movie series. New story, same characters. Also, there's a ton of games that have not been translated and probably never will be. I don't know anything about the campaign structure in those.

As far as I know, the only Japanese RPG that allowed something like that was some ridiculous homebrew that included Nasu, Urobutchi and some other dudes. And we got Blood Dragon from it, which honestly means that it was a clusterfuck.

I feel like I'm the resident OVA Shill now, but one of their example characters is a sort of pop idol. Making characters with stuff like Charismatic, Famous, Performer, Cute, with a shared Companion (Mr Manager), and weaknesses like Code of Conduct (Idoruus have to behave a certain way. It's in their contract), Love-Magnet, and Restricted Freedom, and you've got yourself an Idol character.

Actually, I've been going through the original and revised rulebooks, seeing what I can just port over from the original translation and what actually needs to be done from the revised book. I can already tell that Combat is going to need a big overhaul, but for the most part things seem to be fairly similar. Might need to rewrite a few things here and there, but for the most part it's fairly similar. Couldn't give you an estimate as to how soon the bulk of that's gonna be done though, outside of Soon™.

Good luck. Just as a general rule, Japanese publishers tend to be leery of releasing .pdf versions of their books. The big publishing zaibatsus see any sort of electronic books being easy ways for people to pirate their works. Combine that with the fairly small number of families with personal computers (at least, compared to the US), and there's very little reason to go digital with the Japanese game books.

Not to say that there aren't any, but the ones who do release pdfs are fairly new, especially compared to some of the older companies, which may date back to the WWII era (if not older).

Long and the short of it, you're fighting against the inertia of almost the entire printing industry of a country. It's not impossible, but damn, is it a hard fuckin' fight.

Your best bet is to order and scan it yourself if you really want it done. There's always Amazon.co.jp if you want to go that way, though I got my books through Kinokuniya and honto.jp. Once there's scans, people tend to be more apt to be interested in at least seeing what the game is like, and from there if it's unique enough (see Maid, Golden Sky Stories, Tenra Bansho Zero, Nechronica) you'll get people to help you translate.

From what I've seen, a lot of them tend to be very story and character driven. Stuff like Maid RPG, Golden Sky Stories, Tenra Bansho Zero, and Double Cross all feature mechanics that focus on how characters interact and what kind of zany shit they get in together, rather than purely just aiming for the most XP to get the next level up to get more powerful.

Some of their games do take inspiration from D&D and even stuff like Record of Lodoss War is largely based off the campaign notes that the writer had while playing with his friends.

Oh, also, they love d6s. Polyhedral dice were hard to come by in Japan during the birth of the tabletop RPG, so they used d6s for almost everything.

Good game, simple mechanics, room for fun builds, RP highly reliant on party banter, game has lots of RPG humor throughout (sometimes pretty dark humor).

The PCs are the King and his Court making and expanding a kingdom in a world that has completely turned into RPG dungeons.

Japan did get AD&D, if I'm not mistaken. They just had to partially fix it so it could be played only with d6s, but I'm not entirely sure.

At any rate, not all of their games are about being kawaii uguu~ animu girls. The problem is that they don't have a super huge following and next to none of them have actually been translated, because there aren't that many hardcore fa/tg/uys who are also moonrune sages… who are also hyper autists intent on translating multiple long-ass, highly technical manuals for the small collective of nerds who want to play animu RPGs that aren't strictly like D&D.

they did not fix D&D to use d6s. The specialist hobby shops where you got D&D were also the place to get polyhedrals

Tunnels & Trolls, on the other hand, used d6s exclusively from the get-go and proved to be a worthwhile competitor in Japan.

Japanese RPG creators looking to get in on the act made their systems d6-based to enable large scale distribution outside of specialist shops

Thanks f/a/tg/uy for reminding me about this thread. Let's talk about Maid RPG.

>our regularly scheduled game kept getting cancelled

>wrote out several games I was willing to run as one-shots for my group if it happened again

>friend draws a card at random

>it's Maid

>next week comes around annnd.. game is canceled again because a couple players can't make it

>HAHA TIME FOR MAIDS

>we start rolling characters

>one player rolled beige for pretty much every color except their eyes, which were silver

>she's athletic as fuck

>another player rolled spikes for damned near everything

>she's hyper skilled and capable of insta-cleaning damned near everything

>also she might be the bastard child of the master

>..or maybe just a thought projection of a mysterious entity locked in a strange room of the mansion. That part wasn't resolved

>last player ends up with multiple 0s in her stats

>she's also a necromancer

>their master is a young wizard who is terribly shy part of an ancient cabal of space wizards

>also the mansion is a beach planet that moves around and is constantly swarmed by bad-luck space ravens, bringing luck down to 0 for pretty much everyone

>players decide their master is Bart Palperteen, and he's more or less a Sith lord

>morning starts and Beigemaid is the first to wake the master

>the other two make breakfast

>necromaid can't maid for shit. Spikeymaid berates her for her low-quality coffee

>she is instantly overstressed and runs off to go cry and compulsively eat everything in the pantry for a few minutes

>Spikeymaid prepares God-tier coffee and breakfast for the master

>random event unleashes a wild spacecat in the mansion who has a still-living spaceraven in it's mouth, and it's running amok making messes everywhere

>The cat has made its way into the cargobay where the Master's giant mysterious container that no one is allowed to open is being housed

>He demands they secure that room immediately because that's very very bad if anything happened to that box

>Beigemaid arrives on the scene and smashes it so hard and so precisely with her hammer that it dies instanteously

>Spikeymaid insta-cleans the halls behind her

>Both decide it would be nice to give the spacecat to Necromaid

>Necromaid reanimates the spacecat and dresses it in a maid uniform.

>Some minor fooling about occurs

>later random event: they get a signal from an angry alien species, but they can't understand them

>Maids scramble to come up with a way to translate the transmissions

>Eventually figure out part of the message and the aliens have called her a harlot, demanding to speak to their leader

>Beigemaid and Spikeymaid are pissed and open fire on them with the mansions laser turrets

>Aliens open fire in return

>The constant swarm of space ravens is making it hard to either side to hit each other

>Aliens beam in

>Necromaid, Spacecatmaid, and Beigemaid team up to fight aliens

Spikeymaid is still trying to figure out what they want

>Finally translates their message

>They're the local space police

>They're here to seize the illegal contraband in the cargobay

>master starts losing his shit and runs to the cargobay

>Maids arrive at the Cargobay in time to decimate the aliens trying to open the cargobay door

>master is inside, brandishing his Spacelasercutlass and trying to protect the mystery box

>Finally land a shot on the alien armada and then fly away

>game ends with the players cleaning up the pile of alien corpses

Moral of the story is.. you should play Maid RPG.

When I first GMd a game of Maid, I planned the Master to be an elderly english gentleman. My players protested, they just rolled up their characters at random, why shouldn't I do the same? The master turned out to be pretty much Dracula of Castlevania, I didn't realize this until one day after the game, even though I played him like comedy version of that character.

>Meikyuu Kingdom has quite a few elaborate puns, so someone on the writing team must've spoken English.

I get the feeling that that is true, mostly because of a couple of spelling errors that one would make having a word spoken to them as opposed to knowing the word from reading it ("Preyer" instead of "Prayer" for example).

Also, here's the first 70 skill cards in the game with English text edited onto them. I've been meaning to play this, and my group agreed to play it. We normally play over Tabletop Simulator, so I've been making the cards from the game into in image file, which is how TTS creates decks of cards. When I finish the next 70 I'll probably post them here if anyone is interested.

Yes. Both games are made by the same company and both games take place in the same world. Tenra is the Eastern continent and Terra is the Western continent. In one of the splat books for TBZ there's even stats for a foreigner that shows up with revolvers. Likewise it appears that there are samurai popping up in Terra.

>>371106

True, it's a very sorry state of affairs. Really the only hope of getting it translated is if we translate it ourselves. Even then, what small translations I've done have just been going into google translate and trying to draw the symbols in.

On that subject, the quote under detective:

"Hutz, I got (found out?) the culprit……. It's you."

Quote under former rocket ranger:

>Oh, so Terra the Gunslinger runs on the same systems as TBZ then?

From what I can tell, yes, though I assume there are some differences in the counter attack mechanic that allow ranged weapons to take care of mooks at the same rate that melee weapons can in TBZ. After all, that was the main drawback of ranged weapons, but in Terra just about everyone is using ranged weapons.

On an unrelated note, I put the symbols into google translate for the Private Eye class, just to see how long it would take and it took me about half an hour just to get that small blurb done.

Fluff for the Detective (Brute Force Translation):

Pincarton Detective Company which was introduced before the Tera settlers and led the north army to victory with the North Intelligence Unit during the Civil War. Now that the war is over, they will pursue the heavy criminals who fled to the west. It is their fundamental rule that "keep tracking until the death of outlaws is confirmed". Alongside sheriffs, absolute "justice" in the West. Fools are them, detectives.

The translation seems mostly readable, but in this case the last two sentences will need some interpretation. I believe it means something like "Alongside sheriffs, Private Eyes enforce absolute 'justice' in the West. Foolish are those that defy them." Or something like that. I find it interesting that the put justice in quotes like that. I suppose it's to signify that not all Private Eyes believe in justice, or perhaps that the law is not so clear cut?

Since I feel the need to, I'm going to translate Preacher just to complete the page. Sorry if I am spamming the thread.

>"Please forgive me, O God, your daughter will tell you about pig iron that hurts people ……."

Pig Iron is a form of unrefined iron, but I'm pretty sure it is referencing bullets, so the word "lead" would probably evoke the proper image over pig iron. I also think (though I am just guessing) the phrase "your daughter will tell you" is something that you state before you make a confession. I'm not a catholic, though, so I'm not quite sure how a confession is supposed to start, so I'm just going to keep it as is and chalk it up to world lore. As such a better translation would be something like…

>"Please forgive me, O God, your daughter will tell you how she used lead to hurt people…"

Or something like that. Doesn't really flow right, the entire phrasing might need to redone just to make it sound more like the confessing of a sin while maintaining the meaning of the statement.

>Who said "There is no god in the west"? But in the harshest west there are those who believe in God and spread their teachings to people. Hold the cross on the neck, the bible on the left hand, and the gun on the right hand, they fight today to illuminate the western Hirono with the majesty of God.

The translation seems to be pretty easily understood. I have no idea what Hirono is, but I'm going to guess it's the name of the world. As for a cleaned up of the translation…

>Who says "There is no god in the west?" In the harshest lands of the west, there are those who believe in God and spread His teachings to the people. They put a rosary around their necks, the bible in their left hands, and a gun in their right. They fight to illuminate the West with the majesty of God.

He's started hanging with the SJW crowd for some reason and now says that the art is too sexist or something and that he won't translate Terra and Tenra Wars because of this. He also got some feminist author to create an alternative setting for Tenra which she failed to deliver in the first place and it turned out to be complete garbage once she was actually done.

Also, he keeps pushing back the release dates for the stuff he works on. The current translation project, Shinobigami, was pushed back multiple times and there's still books for Tenra and Ryuutama that he's promised to release.

Just look at this shit. The Ryuutama translation was released in 2013. It's been 5 years and he still hasn't managed to release the supplements!

>The spacing is a bit close, the font is narrow, etc.

Understandable. The problem lies in the fact that a lot of the game concepts (such as all of the materials) are just one symbol long in Japanese, while in English can be extremely long words (Such as "information"). In order to get consistency I've been cramping the letters together, but I suppose I should just made the text on a more card by card basis.

On that note, I changed "Personality" to "AI" as the personality limitations of the monsters are effectively soft AIs that the GM is asked to abide by. Likewise each of the personality types (Foolish, Strange, Steady, and Cunning) are too long to fit in the area, so I've shortened them (Fool, Strng, Stdy, and Cnng respectively). Hopefully it's self explanatory enough for most people to understand it at a glance.

As for the font, is there any font you'd prefer to be used? To be perfectly honest I've been using the default font in GIMP and just never thought to change it beyond bold text or changing the letter spacing.

Is anyone interested in the Meikyuu Kingdom strategy card game (Make You Conquest)? It has an English translation already included, although it's mediocre from what I gather. I have. I must admit that I am playing it far more in line with a semi-board-game tactical RPG rather than the game I feel it should be. I must admit it's always been difficult for me to run TTRPGs that I haven't seen other people run before. It doesn't help that my players aren't the most enthusiastic roleplayers.

Pretty much. I remember when I was making the angle cards I came across the "Angle of Annunciation" which confused the crap out of me for so long because none of the abilities had anything to do with names or letter or anything like that.

So, I actually put the symbols for the name into Google translate, and wouldn't you know it, that wasn't the angle's name at all.

I was translating ZR starting from November/December of 2018, but depression's hit after I translated the player part of the thing. It's pretty badly translated, but better than whatever is on the tlwiki (They don't even have the basic rules right). You'll notice my English dipping getting better and worse at parts, which probably correlate to how shitty I felt during translation.

Here's what I have. The monster descriptions are really the most problematic part, because it's dense. The GM segment has traps (like, dangerous obstacles not cute boys. That's just normal degeneracy), and a few more pages left, I'll try to finish some when.

From what I can infer, there is somewhat more of a focus on character and story, moreso than stats and power, but I also have no experience within the moon RPG community, so for all we know, they may make minmaxed munchkins with just as much frequency as their western counterparts.

From my reading of Tenra Bansho Zero, I got the impression that playing games once a week or more is not the norm, even for hardcore Japanese tabletop gamers, so the games they design are made with singular sessions in mind. 4 or so hours of strongly guided, heavily structured play, instead of the usual aimless sandboxing you can sometimes get caught in.

Most of the campaigns I run for Maid RPG last about 4 sessions(each session lasts about ~3 hours) and the last one was at the second session. The players really like their characters and the Master so this one might run a little bit longer. In the previous campaigns no one really used the seduction mechanic on eachother; the players only used it on npcs so no one complained about it.

Then I guess the best way would be to talk with your group at the start or end of the next session. Especially if it bothers the players so much that the games is disrupted or that the group might even fall apart.

I mean, sure it is possible to seduce other Maids and even abuse the mechanic as far as I know, I'd need to look the mechanics up again as I never use them. The closest thing I used was "combat" using affection. The same way it is possible to chop the mage into pieces, cook his body as stew, poison it and then serve it to the rest of the group in just about any fantasy RPG. That doesn't mean the group is going to enjoy it.

There are servers on a certain currently popular chat platform with 4/tg/ origins, I would not recommend playing with the people there though, most of the active ones are cancerous in the sense that if you dare say something someone doesn't like (eg. I enjoy X system), you will get screeched at. Civility is largely a foreign concept, and seeing autistic shitflinging between two or more people that eats up a whole channel is quite an often sight. And of course, many hold grudges, so if you somehow get on someone's bad side even by accident, they (and their friends) will hate you forever.

I assume you don't have anyone to ask if they'd be interested in trying out MAID or Nechronica? I can offer you my fairly expansive web of people who are very interested in all kinds of games (I believe some of them even played MAID several times), but keep in mind they all use the chat platform I mentioned for gaming, which may bother you. They also don't do voice chat, preferring to game over text instead.

I personally don't like L5R. I never played it but I planned on GMing a game. Never done so since I think the setting is completely retarded and not in a good way. So I don't know how well it would work as a "Training Wheels L5R".

With that said, I really enjoyed GMing Tenra. The system itself is really fast and simple. If you want more depth, there's many spell-like abilities or "augmentations" that you can use, depending on your character. And I just love the wounds system. The base rules itself would already be pretty fun but the aiki - kiai is absolutely amazing. It works wonder to get your players to roleplay. Having scenes with only part of the group and having others join depending on the mood or as NPCs is really fun too.

Regarding input, some players are weirdly shocked and appaled by the concept that this game is more one-shot focused. Also the pre-made characters are pretty solid so feel free to use them for your first games. Lastly, the translator is a turbocuck who's too lazy to ever publish any more of the material that he was already paid for through kikestarter.

It's not really comparable to L5R, because it's a really anime-as-fuck setting and everything stems from that. You're not playing minor soldiers and basic ninjas. You're playing child mech pilots whose robots are controlled by innocence and powered by the living hearts of oni, cyborg mercenaries who have been purposefully hacking off body parts to become stronger, outright Naruto-esque ninjas who can summon giant frogs and spit fireballs the size of trucks at armies, and Samurai who specialize in hunting mechs because they have embedded soul gems across their entire bodies to give them superhuman strength and durability so they can wield massive zanbato.

Ok I admit that the L5R comparison was very bad, but the the initial point still stands as good for a Mystical East campaign my group really isnt used to. As I am not a normal GM the one shot focus seems to work in my favor really combined with the simpler D6 roll under system.

In regards to the translator/localizer is he really a shit heel or just a lazy fuck? I guess this effects if I drop 16 bucks or bum at the share thread, laziness is one thing but if hes like the normal 'localization' crew that mar other projects I wont pay.

>In regards to the translator/localizer

A bit of both. He is a bit of a SJW, he stated that the art and setting of Tenra is too much and that's why he won't translate Terra or Tenra Wars, and the worst kind of weeb the kind that tries to be a Japanese normalfag but as far as I can tell he didn't change or (((localize)))) anything about Tenra. That's something at least.

He is a completely incompetent fuck though. It's been six years and he still didn't publish the supplements he promised. It's not looking any better for Ryuutama and Shinobigami isn't even released yet. I can't even tell if it's laziness or just hubris but it's bad planning either way.

In the end it is your choice. They put in the work so I pay for the games but I advice against ever supporting one of his projects.

TBZ is going to be jarring for the average group because the idea that sits at the core of the system is not to run a campaign. It's more like composing a stand-alone anime movie, with a sort of act structure and little self-contained scenes and so on. The harder part to get into might be the setting itself, because it is dense with shit going on, so conveying that effectively is a challenge unto itself. Getting players who are used to longform D&D-style campaigns is going to throw them off a bit, because they're kind of being dumped into a random chunk of a larger story, and even though they're playing larger than life characters, it's not a "save the world" kind of setting. It's all meant to be very personal and dramatic.

As for the translator, at the time of the kickstarter and the publishing of the game, he was alright, meaning he didn't poz up the game too hard. This was about 5 years ago, maybe more, so most people of his ilk hadn't gone completely insane yet. The problem was what followed, when the tranny/indie clique started edging in on RPG communities and cons. This post here is the gist of it >>371143

Japanese RPGs are seen as a very "indie" sort of thing, because they are a niche within a niche that has to be translated and rebuilt from the ground up for publishing, putting them one niche deeper, when they were already way deep into the tranny danger zone. For all kinds of dumb reasons, mouthy faggots and trannies have a big issue with anime and Japan in general. They are also about elbow deep in the ass of the indie RPG community right now, meaning they have some serious influence when it comes to these kinds of projects. No one who is in these circles wants to piss anyone else off by being, for instance, the guy who translated and successfully kickstarted a "problematic" titty ninja RPG (that happens to make everything else these talentless faggots have made look like utter shit).

Part 2. Don't know why the interviewer split them arbitrarily.

Anyway, both videos are about an hour long, and I learned a few interesting things about the games and the culture.

>D&D was the first really influential TTRPG, but it was rivaled by Sword World RPG due to the latter using a 2d6 system and polyhedral dice being uncommon in Japan at the time

>for fantasy RPGs, Sword World has traditionally been the most popular, but it, Pathfinder, and D&D recently released new editions within a span of about 6 months in 2017-2018 in Japan, so there's more competition

>most JTTRPGs are sold in smaller, manga-sized, black and white books and have few illustrations

>for most of the last decade, when the Japanese think TTRPGs, they think Call of Cthulhu, which naturally has cute anime girls in miniskirts on the cover

>>apparently its recent surge in popularity was due to the Youtube versions of "replays," which are where people dramatize the adventures in their campaigns and accompany them with simple art and animations

The way the Japanese play TTRPGs is also different from people in the West:

>systems and adventures are usually focused on party interaction and socialization rather than combat (although I think this is pretty common knowledge)

>long work days and commutes mean sessions are often shorter, and adventures are usually one-shots rather than sustained campaigns

>usually hosted at board game cafes due to many players' small apartments/living quarters

>>it's actually considered odd to have a session at someone's house, and is usually a sign of close friendship; it's more common in less urban communities

Probably my favourite part is how the Japanese approach character creation.

>no matter how dark and grim the setting is, no matter what the adventure will be, SOMEONE will play a cute happy-go-lucky loli

I read the system and I really liked it. It has many interesting mechanics and combat is a perfect repreasentation of anime - stronger opponents obliterate weaker opponents in droves with no regard to action economy, your character only dies if you want it to, but you can make your death really dramatic, the more wounded your character, the stronger he is, and you can drown your opponents in cubes from your experience points, which you earn basically by roleplaying your character motivation well, so I like to imagine this mechanic as inspirational flashbacks. Now I wonder if it would be possible to detach the system from its setting and use it as generic anime system, because BESM disappointed me in this regard.

Depends on each book. The votoms rpg published by r talsorian goes into decent amount of detail, though it does miss some things like repairing a mech after battle and a proper money system. That book is around 10 pages of setting the scene of the show, 60 pages of stats for vehicles and people, 50 on the story of the show with stats for npcs and being the "main campaign" if you wished to play it, 50 on how to build characters and play the game, and 10 pages on general ideas to have as your own campaign. Seeing as the konosuba book is around 320 pages (may change when converted to english) compared to the 170 that book has, it probably will have more going for it. Though it really depends on how many drawings it will have. Mostly my worry of barebones comes from how the people I run with play. I'm not the best at improv yet as a dm, so I like having possibilities there to point to.

630 something pages of a full rulebook. I'm pretty sure the books were taken out of ready to shelf deliveries because as you can see it has one of those advertisement strips around the book cover, and it's got a couple of folded up advertisements in the book. A DM screen with utility info on the outside and thankfully small amounts of art on the inside. 6 two page on sided cardboard character sheets. As far as content of the book there is a minimum of art and it looks like it's pure business. There is only around 60 pages of spells, but I can't read any moonrunes so I'm not sure how much of the content is player character creation versus pure rules. It doesn't seem to use grids at all as I saw an image depicting what I assume are spell radii that was just circles and dots for the targets.

As a purchase for anyone who can read it I wouldn't recommend it simply because it doesn't include an adventure, but I could be wrong. I'm 100% sure you could just import the rulebook by itself for a shit ton cheaper than this special edition. I'll take some pictures of the handbook and the DM screen in a little bit.

Is there anyone to translate the Goblin Slayer TTRPG, or does anyone know of a group that's going to do it? A better question would be, did anyone here already buy it with the intent of translating it?

I'm willing to phone camera the entire book just to make sure that raws are up on the internet, but I would like to know if it's a huge waste of my life. The rule book is very low on art and style, so I'm so I have no reason to rip it apart or destroy the binding to scan it when I could just take pictures. I've got this little side handbook on the side and there's some QR code stuff so there might be an online resource for the rules, but I'm pretty sure the QR code on the sleeve is just an advertisement.

Anyways, I can't read this tome but at least it came with dice and a figure. I would have been willing to use the DM screen but the fact that the outside isn't entirely art bothers me.
