If we wanted to spend effort doing things, we wouldn't be ripping them, I assume.
>>23993
Will it though? It would be close, but with things like skintight clothing close doesn't cut it, it needs to be exact.

please don't talk about things when you have no idea what you are talking about.
There is no difference between a rigged mesh in tris and a rigged mesh in quads. The rigging information is stored per vert, not per edge. As long as the vertis of the model are in the same place, it doesn't matter for animation if the model is in tris or quads, it will deform the same way. Every model ever is rendered in tris.
Quads are an illusion, an abstraction for 3d modelling software to make certain things more workable.

Actually for skintight clothing you want it in tris because the way each quad is triangulated can have an effect on skintight mesh. If one quad is triangulated one way, and another is triangulated the opposite way, it can cause clipping.

Well, yes. I am aware I didn't know for sure, and that I only know the very slim beginning of the basics of modelling. That's why I asked a question, and stated that I knew it would be close, and then pointed to a scenario explaining why exactness would be necessary and closeness wasn't good enough. I didn't mean to indicate whether I knew for sure whether it would be exact or not, and I'm sorry it came across that way.
Thank you both for the explanations, I definitely appreciate it.

So with avatar complexity being more up front now, what do you guys think of the way it's calculated?
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/Rendering_weight
It seems off to me. I'm no expert, but should having an animated texture really x4 the base calculation of the mesh complexity? As well as other rather suspect calculations there.

I can't say I really know enough about the subject to comment on their choices on what to penalize and by how much, but as it stands avatar complexity doesn't calculate consistently from one user to another, and every person I've checked with sees their own complexity as significantly lower than what others see them at. I still haven't found a decent explanation for this, but the inconsistency makes using the calculation to power a feature kind of ridiculous.

It's definitely not perfect, but it's an alright "ballpark" number to aim for. By which I mean GENERALLY SPEAKING, if your draw weight is lower, you're avatar is easier to render. Not always, but usually.
I'm not sure about animated textures having the effect you describe, but I'll tell you that in general textures seem to have way too little impact on draw weight. But LL has always neglected to take texture use into account.
It's almost like they have no idea how realtime graphics rendering works in practice and are stumbling around blindly grasping at straws to figure out why SL runs so badly even on high-end computers...but that would be absurd, wouldn't it?
>>24174
> but as it stands avatar complexity doesn't calculate consistently from one user to another
Correct, the draw weight you see is calculated by your viewer based on the avatar in question AND your hardware. The explanation for why they do it like this is simple: Linden Lab is absurdly stupid.

That's kind of what I suspected was the case... but that's just idiotic. If you're aiming to get the community to collectively use less resources some sort of objective scale they can measure against is pretty much essential. Just give people a recommended max complexity setting based on their hardware and leave it out of the actual rating.

You're better off just buying a body that was designed with larger breasts in mind. Most of the rigged mesh bodies start to look stupid at either extreme end of the breast slider.

recently got the Cherry Bomb breast and i think they look pretty fantastic. There is some minor clipping and seam issues between the Maitreya body and the breasts, mainly with the tattoos, but this becomes even less noticeable when you dont have physics on
plus the lactation add-on is fantastic :3~~

Agreed that it's best to stick with a mesh body that has large breasts, otherwise you get very noticeable seams and issues there the breast shape of the body and chest conflict.
The Kitties Lair bodies are good for large breasts and come with multiple nipple options. Still, I'd love a mesh body with breasts similar to the Sinful Needs Gaea breasts.

I've found that you can take the lactation particle effects from one chest and put it onto another pretty easily.
Although, I imagine that could depend on how they're scripted. You might end up with some redundant scripts, or needing to make the particle prims their own attachment.

Looking for a male mesh body and very indecisive. TMP looks the best but SLink is cheaper. Then there's a few less common options that I haven't seen much of. And then I need a head. I guess I can try to ride high with the normal LL body? I just want to be a normal dude, dude. Anime life isn't for me.

If you really must be a limp wristed normal guy then simply get Slink if you want to apply your own skins and have more clothing options. TMP is only for those who really want to be jewed.

No-mod is a rip off, but TMP takes it to a whole new level of bald-faced thievery with their HUD-based store and how they force you to purchase their proprietary storebux. So if those are your two choices, I'd go with Slink.
Honestly, with Bento supposedly just around the corner, if having a mesh body isn't a super pressing concern then I'd just wait and see what content creators do with the new features.

TMP is bad and you shouldn't get it. The looks aren't worth dealing with everything else about it.
Slink is compatible with more clothing options than others. It looks average, not muscular. You need slink hands/feet. You do get decent glove/sock support because of it, though. Also, if you want to match your nails to your skin, it's easier since there's a lot of texture packs out there. Some older tattoos will come with slink appliers, too, so you'll get the most applier support.
Adam is more muscular, has omega, and comes with hands/feet, but it can be a bit harder to dress because of its build. Nails are kind of hard to match to pale skin and will stick out. Adam does have a ton of lewd or tight-fitting clothing available at the store, like boxers with states.
Signature Gianni is okay, you should try a demo for it and see if you like the shape. One of the nice features is that you can enter UUIDs into the HUD, like your average utilizator avatar. It has omega support, and it does come with feet/hands. However, I don't like the feet/hands, and the last time I checked, clothing layers didn't alpha out the same as the rest of the avatar. If you like TMP, I would suggest looking at Signature, since you can get similar shapes.
Aesthetic has gay clothing options and you can't use older clothes you might have. If you want to be a huge dude with absolutely ripped muscles running around in gym gear, it's great. If you want to look decently dressed, it sucks balls. Barely anyone makes mesh for it so you get the same templates over and over. It's mod, though, and decently made. Skins aren't really available, so if you're not happy with the defaults, tough shit.
My favorite bodies are Adam and Slink, depending on what kind of build I want to use on particular avatars. Adam for a more manly build, and Slink for more twinkish avatars (it doesn't go femboy though, don't do that.)
