So, danbooru is an image board type, yet people speak about danbooru like if it was but one place. Could somebody explain this to me? Also, how can I get into this whole thing? I want to use it to search pictures.

Danbooru is the same thing only shit. It hides features behind a paywall and has less relevant pictures in general. Gelbooru is the go place to find stuff.
