So what do y'all think of Worm?

Read the first thing, bounced off. I wanted to like it because it's popular among People Like Me™, but…not in the cards, I guess.

Then again, I bounced off HPMOR and eventually got back into it and finished it.

Without spoiling, what's to like about Worm?

Characters using superpowers in plausibly-intelligent ways. World that makes sense, sort of. It has rules that are adhered to consistently. Personally I grew to really like the characters. Tattletale in particular is best girl. The action scenes aren't at the sam512 level, but are very solid nonetheless.

But mainly it comes down to whether you can put up with the edginess. If you like the feeling of "shit sucks and is only going to get worse for the next month of reading," it's worth pushing through the (mediocre IMO) first handful of chapters. Otherwise, don't hurry to read it. You could read >10 other normal-length things in the same amount of time and chances are decent that at least one of them will be as good.

I got tired of it midway and stopped.

>waaah stop liking things I don't like

Oh, I see now! Thank god you're here anon! You've saved me from a life of liking things wrong! How can I ever repay you?

I loved worm, wasn't really a fan of pact but finished it, and I'm working through twig now. Twig is nice but I'm starting to get tired of wildblow's style I think, the endless pressure the characters always end up with used to be very engaging but no longer is.

I actually read it to chapter 29 (very near the end) and stopped.

It really goes on too long, and really drags in the middle (though in fairness maybe it drags everywhere and my patience just waned in the middle).

I think I don't want to read a book-length of bad writing just so I can get to the point in the story where it turns good.

Manchildren are the future. Do you really think your traditionalist wet dream of white picket fences and two kids is going to survive this century?

Manly responsibility is over. Adults are becoming more child-like each day. When finally, the age of AGI comes, adulthood will be abolished for good.

"Get a job!"

"What job? The robots do everything."

"Grow up, take responsibility, start a family and have kids!"

"But robots are fully customizable to the extent that they can look and act like humans, and I can make as many as the constraints of my government robobux ration card, asteroid mining corp share dividends, and storage space allow for! Why ever would I want an icky organic kid, Grandpa? What's the point? Even women have robo-babies they can turn off when they're sick of them. Also, what's this "responsibility" word you keep using? I don't get it!"

The ending was fucking spectacular.

She cut away her humanity, became an icon of coordination, her golden path delivered us from peril

Aside from that very memorable display and the very strong archetype it conveyed, I don't know if I got much out of it.

Is there value in trauma? Was I enriched by seeing what they did to grue? To cherish?

Read the Migration (17.x) chapters, they are a very good story on their own and don't spoil anything important for the rest of the story.

I'm rereading Pact now. I really love the setting of Pact, even though it's the Wildbow setting I'd die quickest in because I have no charisma with which to command spirits. I wish all the books mentioned in the story and those we see in the Gathered Pages chapters were real so that I could read them.
