Are we ever going to get weaponized memes and "cognitohazards" for real?
I think we will, but more uniformity in human souls is required. Right now a smart enough thing could come up with something to make someone go tell everybody else "the same thing" and then get suicidal or whatever a few weeks later but it wouldn't spread that far and then other people would notice and destroy it etc.
Maybe a really advanced thing could come up with a better meme, one that makes the carrier be very charismatic and study others to personalize transmission?
How many prophets intuitively saw a Basilisk in everyday power exchanges, systematization and optimization etc. and called it God? Some say this Basilisk creature is being pragmatic and not evil, just doing what needs to be done in order to exist.
