Made in Abyss is the best chinese cartoon in an eternity.

I have never seen something this original and creative in ages.

the entire world. the creatures, the value system and desires, the language he invented solely for one village. It is just wonderful. 10 points for creativity and world building.

Yes the gore and horror is vomit inducing but it is a metaphor for the ugly universe we live in where everything wants to kill you all the time in the most grotesque and barbaric way. Or at least I interpret it this way. and it is a perfect contrast to the colorful and cute rest of the entire thing.

>I do not share your oppinion

this is the beautiful thing about art.

everyone interprets it differently

feel free to disscuss

also:

Fapta is best girl

Nanachi is best boy_

Bonus question:

what do you think is waiting at the 7th layer of the abyss?

I reckon the Abyss it was the result of an AI/Technological Singularity, so that the bottom, there's a so-highly-evolved-its-completely-alien-to-us A.I Nexus, with a community of Humans that were its original operators, but have spend a few thousand years basically just doing machine worship, and that's the community that Reg came from.

All the blessing/curses of the Abyss are sideeffects of nanomachines/photonmachines apart of a consciousness that sees animals as inconsequential bugs.

Nanachi was total dead weight this season. Obviously a demand from the Mangaka's Editors to keep that character around because of Nancy's popularity.

Rub them on your breasts next time you worthless furry.

thank you for replying, sosu

>AI TECH / Singularity

that is a smart idea. They do have this duality that on one side they have these primordial monsters and magic and on the other side there are advanced robots and technology. Similar to the cute creatures and the grotesque gore of people being crushed alive to a pulp and what not. Well possible there is something like that waiting at the end.

Personally I believe what awaits them at the end is an artificial sun or reactor that radiates and makes the animals mutate into those creatures. like in godzilla. I don't think there is any gold the golden city or wishmaker machine waiting at the end. Riko's mother has probably mutated into some creature as well and ends up being the final boss

>Reg

Wait, is he a robot? I thought he was a human but lost his limbs the mangaka loves to torment little children and had to replace them with machine parts.

The machines in general seem rather human-like. I wonder if those were humans once but had to leave their bodies because of the curse. Maybe they uploaded their minds into machines and over the course of millennnia forgot they were human once.

>curse / blessing

I don't know why he needed that at all. I don't understand why it is necessary for this story that the children cannot go back to the surface ever again. To make it more spooky or what? to give an explanation why nobody on surface knows what is inside the abyss? it jsut feels very cheap.

I mean, he could have also just said it was too complicated or something. In real life going up the mountain is also much more difficult than just climbing down.

>nanachi

he is a great character and i love it how it was left open if he was a boy or girl. everyone is free to interpret it their own way. like with art. you can also see how hirohito really tried to invent an interesting character with depth and a backstory for the first time. like a real writer would. he does have a good art style and talent for building these itneresting worlds but his writing in the beginning really was not refined enough. glad he learned over time.

>Nancy

Who is that? The wiki has no nancy character

Oh, I just remembered one thing

There was one mention about the time in the abyss somewhere. IIRC the thing was that time in the abyss is progressing much more faster compared to the surface.

There is this thing called time dillation where when you have something travelling at light speed, time stands still for that thing relative to outside obersers.

Then there is gravitational time dilation where if someone was in a black hole, time would stand still for that person relative to outside observers.

light speed and large mass dilates time

I wonder if there is something like this in the abyss. Like a dark hole or a star with large mass that dilates time in the abyss.

ANother interesting thing

If you were standing on the event horizon of a dark hole. You yourself would see the outside world move really fast from your point of view while every outside observer would see you frozen in time.

I wonder if there is an effect like this in the abyss

>They do have this duality that on one side they have these primordial monsters and magic and on the other side there are advanced robots and technology. Similar to the cute creatures and the grotesque gore of people being crushed alive to a pulp and what not.

Which I'm thinking fits the highly-evolved-alien-level-AI idea. It would notice high-level concepts like balanced ecosystems around it, which remain stable in spite of God-level Apex predators that evolve continuously, and death in nature isn't "evil" but at times from our worldview is more evil than evil (parasites..)

>Reg

Well, Cyborg. The 'Operators' have a better understanding of the Singularity, and could command it to give replacement arms to an injury victim like an Autodoc (Starship Troopers, Passengers, et.al.) Perhaps Reg's pewpew arm was done as a defense against the higher-level predator that has the ability to command the Singularity and bit his arms off. ("Rewriting" -> disable the nanomachines.)

Reg's memory loss: As immortality is a thing for several characters (in the manga Faputa practically turned Reg inside-out: I assume Reg is an immortal too) that's nanomachines or whatever restoring the health and bodies of their host. Faputa's recovery in episode 11 looked very "nanos extracting raw materials". I expect Reg got half his brain bitten off somewhere.

>Nancy

Nanachi is a nihongo-ified loanword translation of the girl's name Nancy. "na" isn't a very name-worth base, but "nana" is good for your 7th daughter. Yes, know about the mangaka's tweet, which was written with millions of highly unstable Twitter SJWs watching the "is Nanachi TRANS?!?!?!?" discussion. If you continue this discussion I will assume you are a tranny furry, and you know what we do to those here.

A theory about the drive to seek out the bottom of the Abyss... The Singularity (or the communities around it) needs new non-boogabooga humans. There's probably a good chance that Riko's mum is still human and alive.

I thought Nanachi was a pun modeled after

<Nanashi

this is how the anons in japanese img boards are called

i thought the mangaka was trolling the 2channel fanbase intentionally

>is nanachi a tranny?

i don't believe that

to me he just seems very boy-like. when i saw MIA for the first time S02 episode where they introduced the value system in Iruburu i just immediately thought of him as boy. it never occured to me he might be anything else just from demeanour and how he talks. also the clothes. he has those dragonball style baggy pants.

only later i found out about the drama and found that funny.

Do you know more about nanachi?

like is he strong and has a super power like Reg with his Mega Man arm?

last episode it looked like there will be a fight between him and fapta.

Sorry for being a total pleb but I only saw the introduction episode of Iruburu and from Irumiyui and the settlers becoming ill until last episode. Never read the manga.

>If you continue this discussion I will assume you are a tranny furry

you can rest assured because i am neither of those

but i can well imagine that they like making a big fuss about what amounts to a nothingburger once again.

>Riko's mum

yeah she is either morphed into one of those monsters or she is the evil queen of the abyss or something die as hero or live long enough to be the bad guy

What is your oppinion on Fapta annihilating the Iruburu maggots?

Personally I think she did nothing worng since these fuckers have taken advantage of her mother for centuries.

My highlight will be when she smashes Wazukyan into a pulp at the finale of S02. That fucker I hate most of all.

Then I also read about that mad scientist / best dad of the world meme guy. I hope they kill this fucker too. he deserves it too

BTW thank you for your reply

>What is your oppinion on Fapta annihilating the Iruburu maggots?

The fighting didn't seem to make much sense (was it to protect Riko, even though Faputa said she was okay?). Like Belaf, they knew their lives where a debt to Irumyuui.. But Irumyuui's third egg wish about having a Home, and she became the Village for everyone, so those 'infesting' the Village/Irumyuui is something Irumyuui actually wanted?

Claims of Irumyuui being intersex are those faggot Americans pushing their beliefs again. Infertility and population control was a common problem in primitive societies, and my own grandmother had issues with it. The Surface Boogabooga tribe she came from could have decided on her fate from the number of crows on the field that year-- not enough food, don't overpopulate, tell the excess breeders they can't have kids and thrown them in the Pit.

I don't think it was mentioned or explained, but I think all the villagers were members of the original human Suicide Squad, and there hadn't been any births or newcomers.

Wazukyan is interesting! Theologians would argue that he was a real-god-anointed prophet, as there's "no such thing as coincidences" by their way of thinking. His beliefs all came true, and the path he lead (including eating Irumyuui's babies..) produced a result that was a sum-positive for everyone, including Irumyuui (who finally got to spiritually connect and die with Vueko) and Faputa.

Back to the Singularity idea 'the stone people' that's consciousness transference into a machine. They might look like stone whistles, but they're actually a robust form of material-matrix computer.. Maybe when they get to the Bottom layer they'll find a lot of 'Operators' who live like that. And the Manual for Whistles to control android bodies..

If the whole thing is nanomachines and a contained Singularity at the bottom, once a living thing has them, the nanos go waywire from the at-the-top-of-the-Abyss 'security system' if their host looks like it's escaping...

There's literally no-where else to discuss Anime

> to me he just seems very boy-like. when i saw MIA for the first time S02 episode where they introduced the value system in Iruburu i just immediately thought of him as boy. it never occured to me he might be anything else just from demeanour and how he talks. also the clothes. he has those dragonball style baggy pants.

In the first season Nanachi (I was just using "Nancy" to bait you before--but the name origin is true) acted rather girl-like around Reg at times (flustered, blushing), and with the original scenes with Nananchi and Mitty, it was a 'otaku girl is befriended by a older genki girl' story. I expect Nananchi was pre-pubescent, having it delayed by the poor conditions as a child ...and then became a Hollow. Nanachi is a loli that'll never grow up. Hooray.

As for her personality, being traumatized, undersocalised, independent at an early age, never having the emotional changes of puberty, etc., doesn't seem too off from the possible.

Thanks for the chat, and giving me an opportunity to mind-dump my thoughts on the show, which has been impossible to do elsewhere...

I agree that she had those desires inside her. However Wazukyan exploited her desires for his own gain and didnt care if she mutates into that monstrosity. She was a child only. This is why i hate that fucker and hope he will be grinded to dust by fapta.

>intersex

once again i never thought of that.

who are those sickos who make everything about genders or sexuality

>don't overpopulate because no food

that is actually very true. before industrialization humans have always been one bad harvest from starvation. today we eat so many calories that the average westerner is obese to an alarming level. I also read that Japanese would bring the old and sick into the forest and just let them die there like animals. you might be right if this plays a role in the story

>wazukyan / prophet

i do give you that. he does have an antenna for these things. very intuitive and clever. but he is a reckless fucker. vueko was like a tender mother figure for irumiyui and she could not take that anymore and he held her off from suiciding. here again wazukyan and vueko seem like polar opposites in parent roles of irumiyui.

now that wazukyan wants Riko to become a mobile village for them i hate him even more. thankfully nancy found out his plan already.

>stone people

yes this is what i mean. i also read prushka was a girl that was transformed into that whistle that Riko has with her. So if a girl can become a stone I don't see a reason why a human in that universe could not upload his mind into one of those robots, then live for centuries until he has completely forgotten that he once was a human and not always a machine. or like the machine decides to eliminate the emotional parts of the psyche because it makes them weak or something like that.

can you explain one thing to me? what exactly are the whistles. or what makes them so precious? I read you need those to move further down and RIko uses hers to activate Regs buster arm. But I wonder what the connection is between one and the other. I mean why would a whistle activate your energy blaster just like that.

to me they look like magic devices where each one can have a different spell or something.

People transform into something that resembles their desires.

for nanachi it is clear

Ancient Greece left its unwanted babies on a mountain to die, Australian Aboriginals went around blaming Evil Spirits for babies that mysteriously got a spear through the head..

> you might be right if this plays a role in the story

It would make for a truer explanation, even if the author doesn't use it..

>wazukyan / prophet

> to me they look like magic devices where each one can have a different spell or something.

Abandoning my own theories for a moment..

Bondrewd mentioned they're formed from "Life Reverberating Stones", which in turn were made from a Human. They can communicate with other relics and artifacts, activating them if needed.

https://madeinabyss.fandom.com/wiki/White_Whistle ...is fairly detailed on their abilities and other facts from the manga.

My theory of their being Mind Uploads works well with that-- the simulated human is first destructively digitized (Transhumanists call this a "Moravec Procedure") and after becoming a machine, have some networking ability with other nanomachine-controlled artifacts.

Prushka's assisting Reg seemed like commanding nanomachines to rebuild & repower Reg. The Abyss story mentioned that energy is tunneled down through the central axis of the Abyss' opening in a special way, and the nanos have access to that energy.

Of course, I totally expect the mangaka to finish up MIA in a way that's less logical than mine :P. (There hasn't been much in the way of explaining things so far anyway..)

>nanachi backstory

> but it seems my thoughts were true after all. the author just wanted to troll the fanbase with that character. funnily it ended up being the best written one too.

Agreeing about the trolling; experienced authors do that sort of thing. You really need to get to watch the first season, where half the season is about Nanachi. :)

> No episode this week, right?

Correct. https://www.livechart.me/anime/9772 has a countdown to the next episode.

> I assume S02 ends with episode 13 and i hope they can close the Iruburu chapter in 2 episodes. Hopefully we don't wait another 5 years for the next season

Livechart/MyAnimeList is saying 12 episodes..

...but the last episode is an hour-long special! ..so that's episodes 12 and 13 stuck together. Apparently some special commemorative event wanted its time slot this week. (Not the British Queen's burial..?)

S2 was volumes ?5 to 10 of the manga, and volume 11 was only just released. Sorry, it'll be 5 years again. :/

> I loved the concept of Narehate

> People transform into something that resembles their desires.

So are the risks of having access to alien-mind nanomachines that can do god-level things on command ...without their manual, and they look for any instructions they can find..

The SF Movie "Sphere" (with Dustin Hoffman, Samuel L Jackson) had the same concept.

> for nanachi it is clear she probably wanted to be cute and good smelling and popular so she became that fluffy

That's logical. :)

> i wonder what the corresponding desires would be of the Iruburu folks. i wonder what each one of these symbolize. belaf is a snake / dragon skull thing. and so on. do you know more?

Belaf's face was disfigured, which could explain the mask. His original 'bone dragon' form did have legs (which he exchanged to copy Mitty) but I haven't any ideas where it comes from. Irumyuui did it to him..

Something in the manga which wasn't mentioned in the anime-- Faputa wants Reg's babies :) That was part of his promise..

If it helps, there's torrents of the Manga available on nyaa.si ---

>english

it is a third language to me actually

>whistle

okay the whistles are former humans close to someone they die and become a stone and some artisan crafts them into a whistle. I do get that. there is also this tradition in some cultures when someone dies, his closest people take one of his personal possessions and keep it with them to make the deceased one live on even after death. I understand that concept (remember / don't forget).

However I don't get the magic thing. I mean, prushka activates regs buster but only if riko uses the whistle and she never had much to do with reg. or did she? it's not like she is the engineer who designed his buster arm or anything like that, right?

as for the whistles it is like the emotions they once had in them turn into some form of magic that can cast spells. at least that is my explanation

i hope they will reveal the exact mechanics of this some time from now.

the author probably didnt even think much of it himself yet and felt like:

>ayo man, lets have whistles that can activate laser cannons and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. type artifacts n shit

>that would be awesome

>yeah and some little fucker who can blow a hole into a giant shield with some toy he has mounted where his arm should be

>half the season

yeah i read that the manga was pretty meh and didnt get much praise or readers until nanachi appeared. no wonder they put focus in that way. they wanted a guarantee the show has success. i might watch it some time later

>next episode

oh so the next one will be the final and a double whammy?

then the 1 week delay is fair. i hope they can put a closing to the iruburu saga

imagine them ending it in the middle of some fight and then saying

>lol, see you in 5 years fags *troll face*

>the manga

holy shit. i just checked the wikia page.

the manga has been running since 2012. it takes them one entire year to make one volume. and this years volume came out in summer already.

Then I also found out the publisher of MIA is some little company right? So I can imagine Hirohito does not have the ressources you would expect from the guy who makes one piece. The big drawing guys usually have a dozen helpers who draw all the backgrounds for them. of course they can then release a new volume every few months.

I think I watched some youtube video where the MIA author did an interview. he said something like he kind of lost hope for the series. then interest arises. then he gets asked by the anime studio to sell them the rights for the anime. he was euphoric but only then found out the contract stated there must be 6 volumes before they begin making the anime. then he thought like fuck I need help and asked one of his friends from high school or college to help him drawing because he was good at drawing cute characters.

>narehate

yeah i wished they explained what each ones desire was or at least gave hints. i am just too retarded to find out these things myself. also the plushies all kind of look same to me. If one was a bird then I would say okay that guy wanted to have freedom. If one was a koala he probably liked to sleep. stuff like that.

continuation because too long

>fapta wants regs love

that was clear to me right away.

i also felt like they would make the perfect couple. their first interactions seemed so cute.

>be more graceful, your demeanour is totally not like one would expect from a princess

she also started the sosu thing for him which she wouldnt have done it if she didnt like him

i think it was even implied in last weeks episode. he said something like

>when this is all over i want to explore the world with by my side

and the very moment she was extasic and you could tell from her shining eyes and facial expression she was the happiest person in the world.

here again you have that duality of fapta on one side being that flustered little girl who is just madly in love on one side and the genocidal lunatic on the other side. i love it how he always mixes opposites

you can explain much of her hatred by abuse and loss she experienced in life.

i felt like she more or less forgot her genocidal plans while she was with reg or at least didnt care about those more than she cared about him

However, I am not sure if Reg really meant what Fapta understood. To me it did not sound like something one would say to express romantic love. to me it sounds more like

>ayo, you pretty cool girl, let's go slay dragons together after i get some other shit done, aight?

he also seemed rather cool delivering that message. if he loved her, he would have been at least as much extastic as she was. he acts much more flustered around riko too maybe cause of amnesia

I wonder how this love triangle will evolve now. Because reg now clearly has a crush on riko.

it must be horrible for fapta to have this happen to her. find your love then he just forgets you existed

Regarding Reg and his amnesia, this however begs the following questions

>why did he forget her and his promise

>if he was in L7 liza picture and went up found by riko, how did he not die or become a blob

>if robots are unaffected by the curse and this is the explanation, how come he is so human-like (even more so than the golem type of robots in the Iruburu arc)

>Haku

the robot protected riko from harm last episode because reg would have never forgiven fapta for huring riko and their bond would have been severed forever. I am really glad the robot did that.

Here again the robot is acting like a parent. very unusual for a machine. one would think a machine would only be interested in self preservation and whatever mission it was programmed to

Then the word Haku was used. To me it sounded like someone's haku is the most precious thing in their life. thing not necessarily meaning an "object". He said something like Reg is her Haku and she was his own (the robots) haku. I loved that word because it expresses just so much more compared to let's say if they used another word like "loved one". It can be interpreted as

>raison d'être

>destiny

>bliss

>loved one

I wonder if this is Iruburu language or the japanese have a similar concept in their language haku means snow IIRC in japanese

gonna check out that sphere movie. generally i don't like sci fi but i'll check it out.

>half the season

> yeah i read that the manga was pretty meh and didnt get much praise or readers until nanachi appeared. no wonder they put focus in that way. they wanted a guarantee the show has success.

Bondrewd & Nanachi's story arc certainly added a lot more interesting intrigue about the Abyss to the story.

>next episode

> oh so the next one will be the final and a double whammy?

Yep. 4 days to go.

Sucks for the followers of Isekai Ojisan who have to wait another 60 days.

> imagine them ending it in the middle of some fight and then saying

> lol, see you in 5 years fags *troll face*

There's only so far been 4 chapters done since the end of the Village arc, and there no indication of what's happening next except for a few new characters with connection to Lyza.

> I think I watched some youtube video where the MIA author did an interview. he said something like he kind of lost hope for the series. then interest arises. then he gets asked by the anime studio to sell them the rights for the anime. he was euphoric but only then found out the contract stated there must be 6 volumes before they begin making the anime. then he thought like fuck I need help and asked one of his friends from high school or college to help him drawing because he was good at drawing cute characters.

haha

>>ayo, you pretty cool girl, let's go slay dragons together after i get some other shit done, aight?

> he also seemed rather cool delivering that message. if he loved her, he would have been at least as much extastic as she was. he acts much more flustered around riko too maybe cause of amnesia

Yep. Still, 'life partners' are a thing..

The "Color wheel theory of love" has three colours Eros (romantic/sexual), Ludus (fun), and Storge (familial). Reg is primarily Ludus for Faputa, and Storge for Riko. Nanachi misses out on Eros because this is a Christian Manga.

> I wonder how this love triangle will evolve now. Because reg now clearly has a crush on riko.

Needs a jealous Nananchi. A Nanachi knowing she's not as popular with boys when a girl with bigger fluffs shows up and her status now is a Third Wheel who is only around to recount knowledge from her time with Bondrewd. A jealous Nananchi would be cute.

> if robots are unaffected by the curse and this is the explanation, how come he is so human-like (even more so than the golem type of robots in the Iruburu arc)

Likely a Synthetic Organism, like the Replicants like in Blade Runner. (What I said before about 'Whistles' being able to have android bodies..)

> gonna check out that sphere movie. generally i don't like sci fi but i'll check it out.

It wasn't something I sat through completely.. It was slow-paced, so I just read its Wikipedia page and did something else..

New Fresh Theories: The time dilatation.. Playing on with the Singularity idea, at the bottom of the Abyss is this infinite A.I.. with infinite information capacity, and /what if/ information can warp Space-Time like matter can (entropy is an information state, and the increase in entropy/loss of information gives rise to 'the arrow of time') -- except without the matter it only warps time...

is that what you meant?

in my mind nanachi is still a boy. but why would nanachi be mad and jeallous? I thought mitty was the one she loved and nobody else. Did nanachi throw an eye on Reg or do the girls have some competition running which of the girls can steal his robo mojo first?

>the movies

> do i have to watch these or are they just compilations of what happened or side infos / filler material?

The first two were recaps; the 3rd was basically a 3 episode Pruska story.

> I wonder if he is into gore and slasher movies

It's called "not being Disney".

Anime originally became a thing because it pushed at the boundaries (by Western standards).. Ninja Scrolls, Legend of the Overfiend, the original Ghost In The Shell movie, Ranma 1/2, etc.

I'd say it's also the case that a scene in the manga trying to have a high emotional impact became a lot more disturbing when it was animated..

> so we can assume another 5 years until the next seaons

Yep. But maybe another 90 minute 'movie' before then if volumes 11-12 turn out to be filler before the concluding arc.

The two new characters (know-it-all Nanachi, indestructible Faputa) were for leveling-up the stats of the expedition party. Sorry inhabitants of Iruburu, in spite of the character development you got, none of you can come because you're all pissweak Muppets, so you all have to die.

But in relation to bonds between the chracters, Nanachi and Faputa have nothing really with Riko.. The story lately had Reg as its plot-central character.

Still, the conclusion of the story will have to be about Riko and Lyza..

In volume 9 of the manga, when Fuputa was sneaking around the sleeping Riko & etc., she noticed that Riko's soul is unusual. In the first season it was revealed that Riko was born at the bottom layer but transported to the surface by an artifact.

>color wheel

> so fapta and reg are play mates

Yep. But making Nananchi the eros option was a joke. :)

Sorry :) .. "Black Holes" are Singularities involving matter/energy, An A.I Singularity could be a case of doing it with information.

okay i must pirate the 3rd movie then

allthough i don't really feel like watching some sicko guy do horrible experiments to his daughter

>not being disney

sure. i just felt like i was noticing a pattern there for his secret preferences for entertainment. Maybe depicting gore in such profane ways is not the best way to get this emotional impact. For example I prefer from action movies where sometimes the image stops and you see another image with blood splatters. Or slow motion scenes where the sound suddenly disappears and you just like hear deep sounds of impacts. stuff like that. The director can make very much with such tricks.

>Iruburu

yeah the entire arc was to build Fapta as a character but it was really well done. I loved the back story and I felt like I have a good understanding how Fapta became like she is now. For me the "how did it happen / backstory" is often more interesting then the actual plot going on.

Now for today's most important.

Did you watch the S02 conclusion already? Did you like it? I loved the episode.

>that beginning part where Fapta finds the Robot

>Fapta knows no language

>because there was nobody who could have talked to her

>nobody to teach her how to speak

It was very cute how she helped Gaburoon rebuild himself. He taught her language in return. They were really heartwarming to watch.

For Fapta it was just like a treasure hunting game.

>Nanachi and team sleeping / stone scene

This scene actually was interesting for me. Fapta found them and then was shocked to find Reg there with those 2. Then she said about Nanachi something like this

>wow this one really does smell good

>don't tell me reg has taken special interest in this one when he already had me

It would really suggest that Fapta was jeallous of Reg finding another love interest in form of Nanachi.

I came up with an explanation of Nanachi as well. It is well possible that she was indeed a girl. A girl of the nerd type like Tomoko from the Watamote show. Smells bad, has no friends, hated and discriminated against. That would explain why her desire was to be fluffy, cute and good smelling.

>The middle part

It felt very catharsic.

Iruburu was destroyed as planned by Fapta but Wazukyan was not brutally killed. He seemed to have made his peace with how everything has evolved. Didn't even look villian-y in the end. Just some dude passing away.

Fapta later also more or less spared the last ones left. The Centipede thing and the cute plushy that always says maaaah. The ones she had eaten beforehand she did not seem to have really enjoyed eating that much.

There was a scene where she loses all her power and cannot move anymore. then thinks about the ones she spared.

>i wonder if i had power left if i had eaten those too

>aw, fuck it, too late to worry about that now anyways

then reg caught her with his robo arm. that scene was wonderful

The last scene between Vueko and Fapta was very saddening.

Speaking of Vueko. She only transformed into a creature at the end. Does that mean she has stayed human all the time? How was that possible? There was a part where she wanted to suicide and had immense feelings of guilt. Did this prevent her from transformation?

She also said about Irumiyui something like

>children was not your only dream

but it didnt say what it was. I wonder if it was also her genuine desire to give everyone a home to live on

>gold

at the end the concept of value is taken up again. here there is some epilogueesque stuff like:

>the gold you were born as

>is now finally free of the yoke of value

i liked that thought very much

one could interpret it as value is something entirely made up by the viewers eyes. everyone is unique and has some type of inner worth, even if some are too blind to see it or refuse to attribute any value to them.

What do you think? Is the entire Iruburu arc thematically a social critique how people / moder society attribute high values to rather profane and retarded shit in our society and things that may appear monstrous or horrible at the outside are just blindly discarded as undesirable?

one more thing about fapta / iruburu destruction

wanted to say that she looked like by the end of it she lost all hatred / the grudge she had in the beginning. as if she was lifted of a curse. She did destroy them all but it didn't seem like she was in a blood-induced frenzy about it. she was mostly indifferent to it in the end. that was also very catharsic

>There was a scene where she loses all her power and cannot move anymore. then thinks about the ones she spared.

And Kaja, who was once hoping just to see his idol in person, got the wildest sicko stalker fanboy fantasy of actually being in Faputa's person.

But it needed struggling to fit his 'tentacle' in Faputa's mouth to make it look more erotic. :D

>Did you watch the S02 conclusion already? Did you like it? I loved the episode.

In my imho summary: needed more Vueko+Irumyuui, less Riko.

(Riko's scenes where for the most part seemed quite forced and unnatural.)

>that beginning part where Fapta finds the Robot

>Fapta knows no language

>because there was nobody who could have talked to her

>nobody to teach her how to speak

>It was very cute how she helped Gaburoon rebuild himself. He taught her language in return.

I'm wondering how many years that took..

Faputa was born at about the time the village was created (apparently?), and then spent quite some time running around was a wild girl, destroying the other Interference Units. Gaburoon had been attacked by a Turbinid and wound up in that hole, getting buried by a good lot of weather debris, which looks like at least 10 years' worth. Then Faputa got schooled into being a proper Princess. Then Reg originally showed up, then left for the surface. The time from Reg going from the 6th Layer to Orth is unknown..

> It would really suggest that Fapta was jeallous of Reg finding another

> love interest in form of Nanachi.

Also blatant fluff cuddling while asleep! (Where'd he get that from..)

Yep, that was always my impression.

Nanachi's vocal type of Alto/Contralto adds to the theory ('tomboy').

>The middle part

>It felt very catharsic.

>Iruburu was destroyed as planned by Fapta but Wazukyan was not brutally killed. He seemed to have made his peace with how everything has evolved. Didn't even look villian-y in the end. Just some dude passing away.

"Wazukyan did nothing wrong!" :)

His last few scenes (and Vueko's) were making the point that the Ganja had found their Golden City/Shangri-La, even if it wasn't the real Golden City.

>There was a scene where she loses all her power and cannot move anymore.

And then the Faputa-fanboy Kaja, who was once hoping just to see his idol in person, got the wildest sicko fanboy fantasy of actually /being/ inside Faputa as his last moments. GOOD END! :D

What I saw as happening there: Faputa had zero energy and was effectively dead but being immortal didn't dissolve to dust like Wazukyan making her body into an inert vessel that Kaja could use. And that was most certainly him talking when Faputa's body got up. I presume the Kaja ate something off-screen at the end for Faputa to revive.

Maaa also got a Good End (in the soul-fulfillment sense). Moogle didn't get anything special over mentioning the villagers knew their debt to Irumyuui.

I found it an interesting scene with the cripped Turbinid-Dragon being euthanized by its fellow. No sapient Earth animals do that besides Humans, suggesting they're above Whales in that regard. (Invertebrates will kill their injured, but that's an evolved chemical signalling with no sapience involved.) Usually animals leave a crippled member to die, or try to support it.

Small biology mistake: some of the predators that ate it had herbivore horizontal-slit eyes.

And while on the subject of biology mistakes: Faputa shouldn't have a belly-button, as she wasn't born with a placenta.. (?)

>The last scene between Vueko and Fapta was very saddening.

It was what I was waiting the whole season for... However the scene didn't affect me as much as I was expecting unfortunately. I had to rewatch it several times for it to kick in.

I have my own Irumyuui-- a girl I was engaged too, but who had a breakdown when her fundie Catholic family objected. She's still around, living in near-destitution on the other side of the country ...no matter what I do, she'll never ever come back to me, and I'm very-much expecting to die in ~40 years thinking back with regret to the 4 years we were together.

>Speaking of Vueko. She only transformed into a creature at the end. Does that mean she has stayed human all the time? How was that possible? There was a part where she wanted to suicide and had immense feelings of guilt. Did this prevent her from transformation?

Irumyuui was certainly sustaining her while in the 'pit'. She lived over 150 years without getting older, too. Note that the black slime ropes turned everyone else into Hollows, but did nothing to her-- certainly Irumyuui wanted to keep her as-is.

Vueko did succumb to the Pseudo-water parasites, but unlike everyone else she didn't have any deformities before being fed the babysoup..

>gold

> at the end the concept of value is taken up again. here there is some epilogueesque stuff like:

>the gold you were born as

>is now finally free of the yoke of value

> i liked that thought very much

Well, they had to find a way to keep a popular cute fluffy character around, in spite of it fulfilling its reason for existing like all of the other season 2 characters...

>one could interpret it as value is something entirely made up by the viewers eyes. everyone is unique and has some type of inner worth, even if some are too blind to see it or refuse to attribute any value to them.

Hmm... Haven't understood it that way..

Gooberroon's explanation of Shii/Kuu/Gutsu/Mei/Haku. The words relating to wealth were also used for living status -- Kuu also meaning an individuals life-history from the accumulation of experiences, Gutsu would be self-actualisation, Mei would be a life's purpose, and Haku being the resulting soul of the individual's entire life. (Implying that Souls are made, not born..)

Interpreting value in that way, 'free of the yoke/collar you were given at birth' is like 'cleaning the slate and being reborn'..

>What do you think? Is the entire Iruburu arc thematically a social critique how people / moder society attribute high values to rather profane and retarded shit in our society

If there were a purpose in the writing, it would've been a bit more developed I think. Everything was pretty-much structured around the theme of (personal) life and value.

> one more thing about fapta / iruburu destruction

> wanted to say that she looked like by the end of it she lost all hatred / the grudge she had in the beginning. as if she was lifted of a curse. She did destroy them all but it didn't seem like she was in a blood-induced frenzy about it. she was mostly indifferent to it in the end.

The last lot of Muppet Nibbles were really about fueling up for the destruction of Irumyuui-Village. (The white ooze could be nanomachines she absorbed from them..) Nothing was mentioned in the anime or manga, but that was killing her Mother.. Killing parasite villagers was were all the excitement was.

Episodes 2 and 3 have been interesting to re-watch, with a lot of detail that was only explained later-- the marketplace had shii ("cheap"?) and kuu ("expensive"?) signs, Kaja's explanation of the village makes more sense, etc.

>needs more Vueko Irumiyui

yeah I liked both characters and I wish they could have had a chance for a real happy end.

>less riko

cannot say anything since I did not watch the rest of the series. I think the artist is holding back much more interesting stuff about her and her mother too. We might see some kind of vueko / iyumiyui similarity with her and her mother. Or maybe an inversion of it. He likes to play with dualities and opposites.

>how many years that took

I think there was one scene in episode 11 or 10 where gaburoon says something like

>wow fapta, you get on quick

or was it this episode at the beginning. not sure anymore.

The thing about fapta also symbolizes that children cannot reach their full potential if they do not have a guiding hand that will help them achieve their best.

f.e. fapta is learning fast but only thanks to reg / gaburoon and their input. if she was left alone she would still be that barbaric chupacabra even if she was sentient and had the capacity to think

I also loved that scene where gabu says to fapta something like

>could you pls not crush me

>i mean, i cannot move so i cannot stop you

>but i would much appreciate if you did not do this to me

it seemed so funny to me but exactly the type of stuff an AI would say

>the golden city

i still think there is nothing like this there

it is a metaphor at best or just a plain ruse / bait at worst. basically they were looking for a home and sanctuary since they were all expelled or outcast in some type. then they found this perversion of a home. maybe the abyss is just hell and meant to torment all participants in it.

>kaja scene

here again the smell thing. smell is used to encode memories. i find this very interesting but also I wonder where that focus on smell comes from. humans rely more on eyes while animals / beasts rely on smell. I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

>turbinid dragon euthanasia

>no spaient beings do this except humans

here again. perhaps they were humans once and were morphed into beasts and kept part of their human-ness

also

good observation on the biologic mistakes.

fapta came from an egg so she should also have reptiloid scales or something. or birdy feathers instead of fur.

you should have just taken her by the hand

flown to the bahamas and had your dream wedding with her under sleepy palm trees and a wonderful sunset. if you loved each other, why would anyone deny you your happiness. fuck this gay earth

>She's still around, living in near-destitution on the other side of the country ...no matter what I do, she'll never ever come back to me

i wonder what her change of heart was provoked by. often there is an official explanation and the true reason for it. i hate it when stories have sad ends

>and I'm very-much expecting to die in ~40 years thinking back with regret to the 4 years we were together.

I feel like you should not regret but cheerish the time. If you really loved her and enjoyed her company, why regret. cheerish the time spent together and then in the next life, when you are both reborn as aristocats, you might find again each other and get a fair chance at happiness

>sustaining pit

yes now i remember fapta said something like irumiyui did not want to share vueko with anyone else. not even fapta. not even the memories of her. she was so precious to her.

>keep around another fluff

well, you gotta appease the 4chan furries after all

>value system

i think your interpretation is better than my. this is an asian cartoon after all and in asia the concept of rebirth is much more important while in the west something like freedom is more valued. i did not think of that. what you say makes sense. being reborn, freed of the yoke of value, after you have built up your soul / personality

MIA scholar,

Just rewatched the episode today and came up with some more thoughts / questions

>1

there was this scene when fapta like absorbs the muppets. her hair gets kind of golden colored bangs and when her body regenerates there is this white goo. in the last episode she absorbs the last ones of the iruburu guys and then shoots out the white goo into the rock. then the goo travels up the rock and it was implied it blew up the rock from inside or something.

Do you know what this white goo symbolizes or is? I mean you mentionned nanomachines but it looks rather biological to me.

>2

Then the scene about majikaja entering fapta. you are right, that was him taking control of her body for a few moments. a few scenes later it looks like fapta opens her eyes after a sleep and then says something like

>man, i had a really weird dream

but what happened to majikaja afterwards?

>3

The scene were Maaa is having riko on her crotch sitting lying against her belly / keeping her safe. Then Riko wakes up from her delirium and Maaa is gone. Was that because Irumiyui vanished and therefore all the villagers vanish too? Vueko being the only one not affected as she was technically still human the entire time? Oh and that scene with the teddy i understand now. that was so cute of Riko trying to replace the blue teddy that maaa lost in that incident

>4

The scene where the one giraffe dinosaur kills the other one. I thought about this again. When you watch animal docs in the savannah you will notice that predators kill each other for prey competition reasons. For example a lion will kill a leopards cubs if he finds them anywhere in the wilderness. that might have been the reason.

>5

This is probably the biggest question I have left open as of now. There is this scene where Vueroeruko is reminiscing about the past. She is in that slime pod thing and says something like this:

>Irumiyui, then I heard your voice where there could have been no voice

>and i was in awe because I realized in that moment

>that having children is not your only wish

Do you have an idea what that other wish was? Was it being with Vuerueroko together or keeping the villagers safe? I really wonder what that might have been because they never openly said. I wish I could read between the lines

I hope you know more

here the ending song, i love that one

>1

>Do you know what this white goo symbolizes or is? I mean you mentionned nanomachines but it looks rather biological to me.

Nanomachines are basically computer-controlled protein molecules.. so they're not far off from being biological..

>2

>Then the scene about majikaja entering fapta. you are right, that was him taking control of her body for a few moments. a few scenes later it looks like fapta opens her eyes after a sleep and then says something like

>man, i had a really weird dream

>but what happened to majikaja afterwards?

Faputa on becoming living again would've absorbed his gas (or maybe he's made up of tiny things like that blob monster that attacked the village) as raw material, I expect.

The villagers were created/transformed inside the village and were actually a part of Irumyuui (the Matrix..). Whereas Vueko originated from outside it and had her original human body because Irumuuyi kept her that way. (Faputa came from the third wish egg, so I expect that avoids the plot-hole there.) If Vueko hadn't been hit with the Curse she would've been able to continue on adventuring down the Abyss.. (But no, the new character had to be fluff instead :P)

They had been cooperating on the hunt...

With Lions (and Australian Aboriginals have way to many references to 'convenient' infanticide in their legends..) it's self-perpetuating instinct from genetic competition in polygamous species-- killing those that aren't from your Alpha Male's lineage.

>5

>Do you have an idea what that other wish was? Was it being with Vuerueroko together or keeping the villagers safe? I really wonder what that might have been because they never openly said. I wish I could read between the lines

Yeah, I think the story writing was a bit weak and ambiguous there. Certainly Irumuuyi never wanted

to forget about Vueko as well..

"(she) Had you there for her(herself)"

> here the ending song, i love that one

I'm imagine that's Irumuuyi singing it... not Vueko like I thought initially.

>>72671

>why did faptas hair get this golden hue / bangs. i wonder what the meaning of that was

I actually didn't notice that..

The show was produced by the same country that gave us Dragon Ball Z :)

Pruska had her hair affected too. A visual indication of personal change..

Can't see it in the manga. But.. someone I noticed was three markings in her hair resemble the necklace that Vueko made for Irumuuyi after her pet hermitbunny was eaten.

>cannot say anything since I did not watch the rest of the series. I think the artist is holding back much more interesting stuff about her and her mother too. We might see some kind of vueko / iyumiyui similarity with her and her mother. Or maybe an inversion of it. He likes to play with dualities and opposites.

I wonder if the end has a plot twist of Riko actually having Lyza's soul..

Volume 11 mentions that Riko was still-born.

Ozen mentioned baby Riko was put into the relic that re-animates and raised to the surface.

Being dead is a way to get around the effects of the Curse...

Lyza wanted to reattempt descending the Abyss?

>The thing about fapta also symbolizes that children cannot reach their full potential if they do not have a guiding hand that will help them achieve their best.

>f.e. fapta is learning fast but only thanks to reg / gaburoon and their input. if she was left alone she would still be that barbaric chupacabra even if she was sentient and had the capacity to think

A Soul-Haku comes from accumulation... which includes invested contributions from others..

>I also loved that scene where gabu says to fapta something like

>could you pls not crush me

>i mean, i cannot move so i cannot stop you

>but i would much appreciate if you did not do this to me

>it seemed so funny to me but exactly the type of stuff an AI would say

Yes, I thought and laughed at that too. :)

>kaja scene

>here again the smell thing. smell is used to encode memories. i find this very interesting but also I wonder where that focus on smell comes from. humans rely more on eyes while animals / beasts rely on smell. I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Not being entirely andropocentric is good, especially as MIA explores Alien environments..

>turbinid dragon euthanasia

>no spaient beings do this except humans

>here again. perhaps they were humans once and were morphed into beasts and kept part of their human-ness

..or evolved into beasts. Say originally like the Hideauze in 'Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet', who were humans that used genetic engineering to make a ecologically sustainable sentient species, and it's now 10,000 years later with the original knowledge being lost..

> I feel like you should not regret but cheerish the time. If you really loved her and enjoyed her company, why regret.

Well, it contributed to my Haku., Another girlfriend I had a few years later did as well, although she totally wants to erase all her memories of me. :/

>sustaining pit

>yes now i remember fapta said something like irumiyui did not want to share vueko with anyone else. not even fapta. not even the memories of her. she was so precious to her.

At the moment that Vueko died, she was told that Irumyuui had never forgotten her either..

>keep around another fluff

>well, you gotta appease the 4chan furries after all

That shit gets worse from Chapter 11. A Furry with massive boobs shows up. :P

>this is an asian cartoon after all and in asia the concept of rebirth is much more important while in the west something like freedom is more valued.

>being reborn, freed of the yoke of value, after you have built up your soul / personality

Shinto allows non-living objects to acquire souls, through 'accumulation' like in MIA.

I really like its (for the most part) non-supernatural definition of souls, being the resulting permanent qualities of a person's life.

With that idea they're the permanent personality and other aspects from a person's life.. going on from the Singularity A.I post-human concept, the soul would be what's uploaded to a 'whistle'.

Maaa's "Good End" explained. She (gender according to the manga translation) lost everything she valued and then some, taking a massive hit to the soul, and not in a state where 'uploading' would have been a good idea. But being able to tag along with Riko (and Menya), and then finally receiving the personally-made doll that was forgiveness and apology from someone who cared about them, was a recovery of her Haku..

Volume 11 of the manga gets into questioning what souls are.. Possibly leading to the 'Lyza arc'.

> HADIMAE

Until the soul comes around again! (...that is, in about 5 years after they get enough manga done for a 3rd season :P)

>nanomachine slime thing

I just thought this is like the Majin Boo goo from Dragonball. Maybe the manga somewhere mentionned anything about it or something. So I asked you since you know more than I do.

>absorbing his gas

yeah that was clear. but I wonder now that she absorbed him again, the majin boo similarities I wonder if part of his personality will be etched inside her or something. I cannot believe he just died after getting to take control of her for a few minutes

>vuerueruko joining the party

i wish that would have happened. i liked her as a character the entire time. she could also be the mother figure for the kiddies

>irumiyuis other wish

so it was her wish to be with vueko together? i thought that must have been it or the give the villagers a new home no matter what monstrosity I transform into

>the song

funnily I imagine it is fapta who sings that / faptas theme song. This is the beautiful thing about the show. you can interpret it in so many different ways. Iyu and Vueko would be both plausible too.

>golden hue bangs hair thing fapta

here again the majin boo / DBZ reference

majin boo absorbs someone then takes over some properties of that person. Is it possible that fapta does the same thing and therefore gets golden bangs?

>necklace

yeah plausible. here again the question would be what was the meaning of it

>soul haku comes from accumulation

you worded that so beautifully

insightful as always

>totally wants to erase all her memories of me.

why people do this is beyond me

if you enjoyed it at that moment, why not stand behind it and cherish the times

>furry with boobs

so our author is a pedofag, furrfag, gorefag on top of being your average everyday anime fagget

yeah sounds like /a/

>shinto sould accumulation

see, this is something I did not know either

thank you for telling me

>soul uploaded to whistle

another insightful thought

I noticed when Riko blows the whistle she falls in a coma and bleeds from her nose. I wonder if that is connected somehow

>doll of maaaa

>recovered the haku that was lost

that is a beautiful way to look at it

the scene was so cute btw

>hey maa

>sorry about this doll

>i tried so hard to repair it

>but this is the best I got together

>i hope you can forgive me

maaa seemed so happy in that moment

>5 years

nah

my personal theory is that he finds some furfag who will help him draw the furries and they will speed up production speed 230%

NIPPON BANZAI

>hadimae

i loved that word

it is interesting how the same word in that language can mean different things

Once again thank you for your insights

wish you a nice day

>you didnt beat us

>we retreated voluntarily

>just like in kiev

>and kharkiv

>and that snake island

of course

the russians are so retarded in this war it is cringe worthy. I mean it would be if it wasnt a real war where real people are being killed for nothing and nothing again. The ukranians have set a trap and they fell for it like the retards they are

>iwan

>we see troop buildup in kherson

>ukranus is going to start offensive soon

>we are trapped here with the river behind us and them in front

>call up reinforcements now

>okay we get reinforcement from kharkiw region soon

>hold out guys

>oh fuck what was that

>they are not attacking in the south

>they are marching on from kharkiv

>fuck fuck fuck

and all that when they could have just retreated behind the river and saved themselves the trouble of defending a useless island without much worth

now putins panaceum for the ukraine fiasco is to send underequipped greenhorns into the meat grinder for nothing. he cannot destroy the himars units of the ukrainians. he cannot stop them from destroying the living shit out of everything he holds. he doesnt have air superiority. he cannot rebuild the precission missiles since they contain sanctionned chip technology from the west.

his fancy iranian suicide drones will not help him either. too little too late.

his only option is to just nuke kiev and then declare victory. even if he wins this war, he will never ever again sell a single kWh of energy to europe. he is ruined forever.
