imagine there was a time when people just uploaded videos on youtube because they loved videomaking. or they happened to film themselves at some funny or cool moment and wanted to let everyone see it.

today everything on youtube feels very high polished and professional but also very soulless and profit oriented only

there was a time when ryan higa was the most subscribed youtuber because he made funny videos. those were the good times. some time later the big media corps entered and everything went to shit.

youtube is now literally unusable. every few seconds you get interupted for ads you cannot get rid of

also, does anyone remember AMV's (anime music videos)

does anyone even do them anymore?

I remember around 2007 youtube was full of them. there was like a million <Sasuke x Sakura @ one republic too late to apologize> videos because naruto was really big at that time.

Then also, I remember in year 2007 (summer) I would watch Rambo 1 entire movie on youtube. There was also the latest naruto chapters in video form. people took effort to make the images into a video with music and all.

What I find most beautiful is that you can still find the old videos of that time. many of these youtubers were active for maybe 2 or 3 years then lost interest completely and vanished to never come back

Does anyone remember emo subculture?

Yeah it was whack but it feels like that was the last real subculture and after that nothing came anymore. we also had skateboarders and hip hoppers subcultures before that but nothing really new came after the emos.
