Gavin Christopher Newsom (born October 10, 1967) is an American politician and businessman who is the 40th governor of California, serving since January 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 49th lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019 and as the 42nd mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. He was sworn in as Governor of California on January 7, 2019.[1]

Newsom attended Redwood High School, and graduated from Santa Clara University. After graduation, he founded the PlumpJack wine store with family friend Gordon Getty as an investor. The PlumpJack Group grew to manage 23 businesses, including wineries, restaurants, and hotels. Newsom began his political career in 1996 when San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown appointed him to serve on the city's Parking and Traffic Commission. Brown appointed Newsom to fill a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors the following year, and Newsom was later elected to the Board in 1998, 2000, and 2002.

In 2003, Newsom was elected the 42nd Mayor of San Francisco, becoming the city's youngest mayor in a century.[2] Newsom was re-elected in 2007 with 72 percent of the vote.[3][4] He was elected Lieutenant Governor of California in 2010 as the running mate of Jerry Brown, and was re-elected in 2014.[5] In February 2015, Newsom announced his candidacy for Governor of California in the 2018 election.[6] On June 5, 2018, he finished in the top two of the non-partisan blanket primary.[7] Newsom defeated Republican John H. Cox in the general election on November 6.

California DMV allows illegals to vote: GOP chairman

California is responding to accusations that a new program allows illegal immigrants to vote.

On April 16, the Golden State will automatically register motorists who obtain or renew a driver’s license to go to the polls.

“The New Motor Voter Program will automatically register customers to voter, if eligible, during driver license, ID card, or change of address transactions,” the DMV said in a statement. “A customer can choose to opt out of the process. Undocumented Californians are not eligible to register to vote, and DMV has programming measures to prevent that from occurring.”

But California Republican Party Chairman Jim Brulte who previously appeared on FOX Business with the charges, pushed back Thursday against the DMV’s statement. He said there is proof that the changes make it easier for undocumented workers to get a driver’s license and vote.

“If they don’t opt out and the systems aren’t 100% fool-proof … we have some evidence of people who are here illegally who have not opted out and are registered to vote, and our field people have picked up some of that,” Brulte told Stuart Varney on “Varney & Co.”

Gavin Newsom will be the first Democrat in more than a century to succeed another Democrat as governor and the succession also marks a big generational transition in California politics.

A long-dominant geriatric quartet from the San Francisco Bay Area – Gov. Jerry Brown, Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – has been slowly ceding power to younger political strivers.

Moreover, Newsom is succeeding someone who could be considered his quasi-uncle, since his inauguration continues the decades-long saga of four San Francisco families intertwined by blood, by marriage, by money, by culture and, of course, by politics – the Browns, the Newsoms, the Pelosis and the Gettys.

After spending almost a year at war with some of the biggest names in the financial world, bankrupt utility PG&E Corp. has finally got them on its side. Now it needs to win over California’s governor.

Late Wednesday, PG&E reached a settlement with noteholders led by bond giant Pacific Investment Management Co. and activist investor Elliott Management Corp., who sought to derail the company’s $46 billion restructuring plan. The deal turns some of PG&E’s most formidable adversaries into backers of its turnaround proposal, bringing the company closer to gaining approval by a state deadline of June 30 and emerging from the biggest utility bankruptcy in U.S. history.

There’s one problem: Governor Gavin Newsom, whose backing is crucial to PG&E’s restructuring, is still trying to block its plan. He rejected the proposal last month, raising concerns about its financing and governance. And the company has “yet to make a single modification” to ease them since, the governor said in a court filing less than two hours before PG&E announced the deal with bondholders.

California Water Infected With Increasing Fecal Bacteria As Democrats Allow Homeless Crisis to Worsen

It’s always entertaining to see diametrically opposing leftist movements collide with one another. Now we have the environmental groups squaring off against the homeless advocacy groups, as California’s homeless crisis is leading to mass contamination of the rivers and streams. Rather than going through sewage treatment, human waste from the homeless is ending up directly in the water ways.

California Health Line reports:

“We should all work together to clean up these hazardous waste and homeless sites before the whole city rots away,” Trump tweeted about San Francisco on Oct. 26. “Very bad and dangerous conditions, also severely impacting the Pacific Ocean and water supply.”

San Francisco officials were quick to dispute Trump’s claims. But some of California’s most prized rivers, beaches and streams are indeed contaminated with levels of fecal bacteria that exceed state limits, threatening kayakers, swimmers — and the state’s reputation as a bastion of environmental protection.

The presence of fecal bacteria in water is usually the result of problems with sewer systems and septic tanks. But water quality officials agree that the source of at least some of the fecal bacteria is California’s growing homeless population, most of whom don’t have reliable access to toilets.

“I’ve carried 5-gallon buckets that were unambiguously being used as toilets,” said David Gibson, executive officer of the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, describing his experience cleaning up homeless encampments. “They were taking it to the San Diego River, dumping it there, and rinsing it out there.”

Fecal contamination of waterways is a widespread problem and becoming more urgent in states with large homeless populations. In Seattle, homeless people living in RVs are accused of dumping raw sewage straight into storm drains, which flows directly to local waterways. In Oregon, workers cleaning up homeless camps along the Willamette River in Eugene routinely find feces and needles.

The Trump administration has fixated on California’s homeless population in particular as a potent source of pollution.

In addition to Trump’s tweets, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sent a letter to California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sept. 26 alleging that the state’s lack of urgency on homelessness threatens public health by polluting nearby water with untreated human waste. It then issued a notice to San Francisco accusing it of violating the federal Clean Water Act.

Jared Blumenfeld, secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency, responded by accusing the federal EPA of retreating on clean water protection, and called the administration’s focus on the environmental impact of homelessness “sensationalized” and “misguided.”

When it comes to water, scientists look for E. coli and other bacteria to determine levels of fecal contamination. While E. coli is present in both human and animal feces, human fecal contamination is particularly dangerous because it can transmit diseases that affect people, including hepatitis A and cholera.

Most people are not at risk of getting sick unless they drink the water, or if pathogens enter open cuts or sores, said Richard Ambrose, a professor in the department of environmental health sciences at UCLA. Homeless people face the highest risk because they are more likely to wash or wade in the water and have less access to toilets and showers, he said.

in Sacramento, regulators have been measuring elevated fecal bacteria levels in the lower American River for more than three years. Located near downtown Sacramento, it is a popular destination for water sports, even as hundreds of homeless people camp nearby.

Some recreational areas, including Tiscornia Beach, where families picnic, BBQ and wade in the river, had E. coli levels so high in the past year that they hit the upper limits of what the water board’s laboratories could measure — more than seven times higher than the state standard, said Adam Laputz, assistant executive officer of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board.

Contamination from homeless camps is so easy to observe — and smell — that there is no “need to monitor to know there’s a problem,” said Thomas Mumley, executive officer of the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board, which stretches from Napa County to Santa Clara County.

If there are no bathrooms in or near a homeless encampment, “we can assume there’s a discharge of waste” where there shouldn’t be, he said.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to offer free health care to illegal aliens age 65 and older in his new state budget, which is due to be unveiled on Friday, which would make California the first state to do so.

The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday that despite opposing legislation last year to expand the state’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, to illegal alien seniors because it would be too costly, Newsom has changed his position.

The relatively small population of seniors who live in the state without legal immigration status means the cost of covering them — estimated to be $121 million a year — is a fraction of the state’s overall $215-billion budget. But Medi-Cal already covers a third of California’s residents, and critics of expanding the program argue it is already struggling with long wait times because of too few doctors who are willing to accept the state’s low reimbursement rates.

California is being closely watched by Democrats as a test case for “Medicare for All,” which many of the 2020 presidential candidates have embraced, notably Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Many have also embraced the idea of granting free health care to illegal aliens. In the first presidential debate of the primary, every single candidate onstage — including former Vice President Joe Biden — raised their hands when asked which of them would favor free health care for illegal aliens — a moment seized upon by conservative critics.

Last July, Newsom signed a law to expand Medi-Cal to illegal aliens under the age of 26, making the state the first to offer free health care to adults in the U.S. illegally. That law took effect this month. California has offered free health care to illegal alien children up to age 19 since 2015. The only group of illegal aliens (partially) excluded from the program would be adults between ages 26 and 65.

State taxpayers bear the entire burden of the expansions because Obamacare, as written, prevents federal funds from being used to cover illegal aliens, the Times notes.

California’s Increasing Weed Taxes are Fueling Crime, Destroying Environment, and Killing Jobs

California — It’s been two years since California began licensing businesses to sell legal marijuana. Unfortunately, however, the legal scene is far outmatched by the black market and the state government is 100% responsible. Instead of reacting to the negative effects of state involvement in the cannabis market, the government of California has doubled down and will vastly increase the burden on legal operations which is certain to create more crime, damage the environment further, and stoke unemployment and business closures.

And the state couldn’t care less.

At the end of 2019, the Cannabis Advisory Committee warned Gov. Gavin Newsom and California legislators that high taxes, overly burdensome regulations and local control issues posed debilitating obstacles to the legal marijuana market. In response, California officials enacted a new a law on New Year’s day to increase these taxes and overly burdensome regulations.

“Essentially, the state is raising our taxes $3 on every $100,” said Eric Miramon, co-owner of All About Wellness in Sacramento.

Miramon told KCRA his pot shop pays a whopping $120,000 a month in combined state and city taxes — and those fees are going up.

Cannabis wholesalers were already paying outrageous excise fees of 60%. But this year, those fees went up to 80%. Cultivation fees are also going through the roof. The effects of extorting the legal cannabis industry for more and more money are devastating both for crime and the environment.

“Increasing the taxes over and over a little bit every month, this is pushing people further and further into the black market,” Miramon said.

The effects of officials steadily stealing more and more from the market via higher taxes and more regulations have been staggering. In fact, despite bringing in $3.1 billion in licensed pot sales — becoming the largest market in the world in 2019 — it is estimated that over 80% of cannabis sales still take place in the black market.

That is nearly $9 billion going to people who are willing to break the law. While many of the folks on the black market are good people who simply wish to conduct business outside the burdensome economy taxed into oblivion by the state, others are ruthless killers and members of the cartel.

El Dorado County sheriff’s Deputy Brian Ishmael was one of the victims of this policy. A private resident who was allowing the cartel to illegally grow weed on his property called police in October after the cartel refused to pay him all his money. When Ishmael responded to the call, cartel members harvesting the last of their weed, shot and killed him.

Ishmael is one of many victims in this drug war that’s been created and maintained by prohibition and government regulation.

The criminal element created by government regulation is only one facet of their careless and idiotic addiction to red tape. Black market cannabis cultivation is also wreaking havoc on the environment as well.

“These are federal lands, and they are being systematically destroyed through clear-cutting, stream diversion, chemicals and pesticides,” said U.S. Atty. McGregor Scott at a news conference in November after a massive illegal grow operation was found in the remote areas of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. “It’s a vitally important issue…

Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a law which just went into effect that limits personal water usage. People can even be hit with massive fines if they exceed their limit by doing laundry and taking a shower on the same day.

This was recently discussed on KTLA News and the reporters seemed shocked to learn the details.

The blue-collar governments that Californians are constantly voting on may have finally crossed the line, at least that’s what these KTLA news anchors look like.

A video of the show, titled “KTLA 5 Anchors News Morning Get Redpill,” shows complaints discussing the issue at hand, particularly regarding 55 liters of water per day in California.

“I’m not sure how I feel about it,” anchor Jessica Holmes told her co-workers. “You won’t be allowed to shower and do a laundry load on the same day.”

While that may sound crazy, what California Attorney Richard Lee unravels is hypothetical figures.

“Doing a laundry load requires about 40 to 50 liters of water. Showering for about eight minutes uses about 17 liters of water. Well, there is a limit to daily water use, 55 gallons per day. So that means if you are showering and doing a laundry load, you can’t do both without breaking the law…

How they will implement the water budget has not been determined, but they will be subject to monthly reporting requirements and will be fined $ 1000 a day when completed. If they exceed the budget in a dry year, the fine is $ 10,000 each day they spend.

One by former Republican Senate candidate Erin Cruz began in August. Wording in her petition lays out her reasons for the recall:

“Over a decade of proven mismanagement of-policies, public monies and resources, and of leadership have led to deterioration of California communities, poor schools, crumbling infrastructure, outrageous rise of costs from gas to utilities, mass housing crisis, frightening increase in homelessness, and insurmountable debt… all caused by gross mismanagement.”

The other, written by former Republican Congressional candidate Dr. James Veltmeyer, listed the reasons as giving healthcare to illegal aliens, tax increases, homelessness, and sanctuary cities within the state.

The Cruz recall petition needs 1,495,709 signatures by February 13th to be on the ballot, while the Veltmeyer recall petition needs the same number by March 5th.

As OANN reported despite support from California residents, county officials are refusing to cooperate with the recall effort against Governor Gavin Newsom. One America’s Pearson Sharp has more.

Several months back you likely all heard about the claims of some kid in CA paying for others school lunches and the whole "lunchshame" hashtag came into existence. Apparently the Mother of that kid is a felon with multiple counts of stolen identity and has the major populace of that region up in arms over her track record which ranges from threats, to stalking, to attacking, to infiltrating kids assemblies, to pushing some overtly odd shit, to on and on. It’s amazing what you can learn going to the grocery store in California. A couple of weeks ago, I had a pleasant experience talking to someone who made the best case for supporting President Trump I’d heard in a while. This afternoon, I had a discouraging experience of what may have been an attempt to subvert recall efforts against California Governor Gavin Newsom.

I was walking towards the entrance of a local SoCal grocery store when I saw a table with two signs on it. One was for “Recall Gavin Newsom.” I couldn’t see the other sign as someone was standing in front of it, but I approached anyway with the intention of snapping a picture for Twitter. There was a gentleman seated and another who was standing in front of the table organizing the petition clipboards.

As I approached, the gentleman seated pointed to me. The other gentleman asked me for my autograph, jokingly, and when I didn’t leave (as everyone else did while I was standing there) he engaged in his description of the four petitions he had for me to sign. One was for rent control. Another was for changing tax assessments to fund schools. The other two were a bit “blah blah blah” to me as I started realizing the tilt of the initiatives. They were clearly left leaning. When he was finished describing the fourth, it was conspicuous that he didn’t offer for me to sign the Newsom petition. As I looked down at the sign to verify it was actually there and not a figment of my imagination, I took the clipboard and started reading through.

The sitting gentleman who first noticed I was looking at the Newsom sign said, “I think he’s looking for the Newsom petition…

The connections date back at least 80 years, to when Jerry Brown's father, Pat Brown, ran for San Francisco district attorney, losing in 1939 but winning in 1943, with the help of his close friend and Gavin newsom's grandfather, businessman William newsom. As mayor, newsom became nationally recognized for ordering the distribution of marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Please allow me to introduce you to the California State Military Reserve (CSMR). It has been in existence since 1846. This little-known group provides California with a trained and organized military force in the event of a state security emergency when the National Guard is deployed. But what is the Guard is deployed against California officials? I could not find an answer to that question. The CSMR is a military entity authorized both by the California State Code and by Executive Order of the Governor of California.

Amazingly, the CSMR is involved in Ukraine. Possessing an understanding of the Logan Act, the CSMR and their legally prohibited role in Ukraine explains a lot about the motives for impeachment and the plans for California Democrats to commence a civil war.

It should be noted that I first learned about the CSMR from the President of New California, Paul Preston. He described it as a kind of secret army that answers only to the Governor of California. What Preston told me proved to be absolutely correct….

(Bloomberg) – A clause that would allow California to take over bankrupt utility giant PG&E Corp. under certain circumstances has emerged as a big sticking point in negotiations between the company and Governor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom wants the power company to include a provision in its reorganization proposal that would allow the state to take control of its assets if it fails to meet performance and safety metrics. Negotiating such a clause has become one of the biggest challenges in talks between the company and the governor’s office, people familiar with the situation said, asking not to be identified because the information isn’t public.

Newsom’s support is crucial to PG&E’s efforts to exit the biggest utility bankruptcy in U.S. history by a state-imposed deadline of June 30. The power giant filed for Chapter 11 in January after its power lines were tied to deadly blazes that erupted across Northern California in 2017 and 2018, leading to an estimated $30 billion in liabilities.

SACRAMENTO - California businesses will soon face new limits in their use of independent contractors under a closely watched proposal signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday, a decision praised by organized labor but unlikely to quell a growing debate over the rules and nature of work in the 21st century economy.

Newsom, who signed Assembly Bill 5 in a private ceremony in his state Capitol office, had already committed to embracing the new law. Legislators gave final approval to the sweeping new employment rules before adjourning for the year last week.

The new law "will help reduce worker misclassification - workers being wrongly classified as 'independent contractors' rather than employees, which erodes basic worker protections like the minimum wage, paid sick days and health insurance benefits," Newsom wrote in a signing message released by his office.

The ruling and new state law raise the bar for companies that otherwise might rely on freelance or contract work. California's bill is arguably the strongest of its kind in the nation, giving the state and cities the right to file suit against companies over misclassification, overriding the arbitration agreements that many businesses use to shield themselves from worker complaints. The new law's supporters point to audits conducted by state employment officials that found almost 500,000 workers were wrongly treated as independent contractors. Much of the early legislative debate on the bill centered on low-wage sectors of the California economy.

"As one of the strongest economies in the world, California is now setting the global standard for worker protections for other states and countries to follow," Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego), the author of AB 5, said in a written statement…

For nearly two decades, Oracle's OpenWorld conference has been held in San Francisco. It made sense; their corporate headquarters is in nearby Redwood City and Silicon Valley seems to be the right place to have a massive tech conference. But they've decided to move the event to Las Vegas for 2020 and the foreseeable future, citing the usual "crap" that is often associated with the modern day version of the city by the bay.

After decades of far-left progressive leadership in city government combined with far-left Democrats controlling state policies, San Francisco has become synonymous with two things: high costs and filthy conditions, including human feces throughout the city's streets. Rampant homelessness and laws that tie law enforcement's hands have produced the latter, and attendees to previous OpenWorld conferences voiced their concerns.

The loss of $64 million in local business revenue couldn't have come at a worse time as the city continues to struggle in the wake of Governor Gavin newsom's stint as San Francisco mayor. Meanwhile, residents and tourists have been voicing their concerns that the city just isn't what it used to be.

"They feel their safety is as risk because they are seeing so many people with issues," said Kevin Carroll of the San Francisco Hotel Council.

Costs, also cited as a reason for the move, had been skyrocketing for visitors during previous events which had occurred during the "October Crush." The average cost of hotel room was $264 per night in October, which in previous years inundated the city with OpenWorld and Salesforce's Dreamworld conference. The latter was moved to November two years ago as a result. With OpenWorld changing venues, October in 2020 isn't going to the financial boon it has been in the past for the city.

When a city suffers through progressive policies for an extended period of time like San Francisco, they invariably become unsustainable. Yet, city voters continue to elect Democrats. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

Voter Fraud By Signing a Registration Application

Signing your name on a registration application is considered "proof" of US citizenship under CA law.

As if a foreign national in our Nation illegally would not falsely sign the form because they may be fined if it were ebver investigated (and proof of citizenship is almost never investigated)

From the CA voter registration drive guide:

"United States Citizenship

The most basic requirement for registering to vote is United States citizenship. The 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.” A person is not a citizen simply because they live in California or are married to a U.S. citizen.

While federal law requires the voter to check a box on the affidavit of registration to indicate that they are a U.S. citizen, Elections Code section 2111 says that a person who signs an affidavit of registration under penalty of perjury is assumed, in the absence of contrary information, to be a citizen. Elections Code section 2112 additionally states that an affidavit of registration is proof of citizenship for voting purposes only; it cannot be used to prove citizenship for any other purpose."

CA Elec Code § 2111 (2017)

A person may prove he or she is a citizen by his or her certification under penalty of perjury on the affidavit of registration.

CA Elec Code § 2112 (2017)

Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the fact that a person certifies to his or her United States citizenship by signing his or her affidavit of registration shall be deemed evidence of citizenship for voting purposes only.
