The new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak originating from Wuhan, China, poses a threat to global health. While it's evident that the virus invades respiratory tract and transmits from human to human through airway, other viral tropisms and transmission routes remain unknown. We tested viral RNA in stool from 73 SARS-CoV-2-infected hospitalized patients using rRT-PCR. 53.42% of the patients tested positive in stool. 23.29% of the patients remained positive in feces even after the viral RNA decreased to undetectable level in respiratory tract. The viral RNA was also detected in gastrointestinal tissues. Furthermore, gastric, duodenal and rectal epithelia showed positive immunofluorescent staining of viral host receptor ACE2 and viral nucleocapsid protein in a case of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Our results provide evidence for gastrointestinal infection of SARS-CoV-2, highlighting its potential fecal-oral transmission route.

After a while it dawned on me that many of these names were satiric-Adonis, The Wild 'Un, Mad-rig-all, Plate-Licker and Everlasting Pea (probably a disturber of the peace in the dormitories).

Women who died inside Mercedes that rolled off Florida ferry were found embracing

Two women who died inside a submerged Mercedes-Benz that rolled off a Florida ferry Tuesday were found embracing in the back seat of the car, according to a report.

Emma Afra, 63, who lived in Miami Beach, was identified as the driver, and 75-year-old Viviane Brahms of Harrison, N.Y., as the passenger, Miami-Dade police said Wednesday.

Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard and Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue responded to calls of a submerged vehicle in the area of Government Cut, a shipping channel between Miami Beach and Fisher Island, an exclusive island community, around 5 p.m. Tuesday, the agencies said.

The two were discovered in an embrace in the car, according to the Miami Herald, citing multiple sources.

The Coast Guard is investigating how the car fell from the ferry, but sources familiar with the investigation told the Herald they believe Afra forgot to put the car in park and hit the gas pedal by accident when it began to roll, accelerating through a barrier and into the water.

Fisher Island was named the richest ZIP code in the U.S. in 2019. Afra lived there, according to local reports, and had appeared at numerous high-profile events over the years.

The Fisher Island ferry runs every 15 minutes, taking passengers across the 50-foot-deep channel. The women were on a 113-foot vessel, named the Pelican, which was built in 1981 and last inspected on May 2, 2019, the Miami Herald reported, citing Coast Guard records.

In 2012, Afra co-chaired an event for Kristi House, a nonprofit that advocates to end child abuse and child sex trafficking, helping to raise $500,000 for child victims, according to the organization.

In 2017, both Afra and Brahms were pictured at a private opening at the Mnuchin Gallery in New York City. Last year, they both appeared at Glenn Ligon’s art lecture at the Miami Design District.

Kaczynski's lawyers later attributed his hostility towards mind control techniques to his participation in Murray's study. Cyber-hooligans are exploiting Giuliani's gaffes on Twitter – and his followers face the risk

Rudolph W. Giuliani’s digital typos are creating cybersecurity threats for his hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter. Cybercriminals are hijacking the incorrect website domain names that President Trump’s personal lawyer shares to redirect visitors to web pages with malware. Jerome Segura, Malwarebytes threat intelligence director, identified three examples of cyber-hooligans exploiting Mr. Giuliani’s digital gaffes on Twitter in the last seven days alone.

On Sunday, Mr. Giuliani tweeted a link to his personal website, RudyGiulianics.com but inadvertently included a space between “Rudy” and “Giulianics.com.” Upon clicking the link tweeted by Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Segura wrote for Malwarebytes, a series of redirects served users with a browser extension that “can read your browser history, the data you enter on sites, and can change your default search engine.”

Two other tweets from Mr. Giuliani linking to his website in recent days have separately combined the correct web address with the word “Watch” and erroneously excluded the letter “I.” Mr. Segura discovered that the domains Mr. Giuliani inadvertently linked to in those cases sent users to a substance-abuse website and to a Wikipedia page for “Trump — Ukraine scandal.”

It is not clear who is responsible for the “typosquatting,” which is what it’s called when cybercriminals hijack web addresses and mimic domains that depend on typos.

“Giuliani is a popular and controversial figure with a history of making typos that have become predictable,” Mr. Segura said. “Political adversaries and detractors will be interested in his audience to try and ridicule him by capitalizing on [mis]-typed links. Crooks and criminals are typically more interested in follower count to maximize their profits on malicious redirects and malware installs.”

Typosquatting that leads to malware is against Twitter’s rules and the company is working to ensure that users see a warning message when they click on such links, the company said. Mr. Segura told The Washington Times that two types of typosquatters appear to be taking aim at Mr. Giuliani.

“We’ve seen clear examples of domains being registered shortly after a tweet to send out political messages or make fun of Giuliani. These could be the work of individuals acting on their own or directed by political adversaries,” Mr. Segura wrote in an email. “On the other hand, we’ve now also seen a case of a website mimicking Giuliani’s that is used purely as a traffic redirection scheme meant to generate revenue. Crooks are known to target popular brands or personalities and piggy-back on the attention they get in order to fuel their own malvertising campaigns.”

Mr. Giuliani responded that he was not aware of typosquatting of his account.

“I have no such knowledge other than that media story,” Mr. Giuliani said.

The list of those who are not fans of Mr. Giuliani is long. As a leading advocate for Mr. Trump, Mr. Giuliani has been involved in several high-stakes matters including the House impeachment of the president.

The former New York City mayor also has been involved in several nongovernmental, international issues. In 2018, he worked at the behest of a global consulting firm run by former FBI Director Louis Freeh on corruption in Romania. Mr. Giuliani runs “Giuliani Security & Safety,” a “full-service security, investigative and crisis management consulting firm” that lists as clients governments, global corporations, law firms, energy industries, financial institutions and universities.

Buffett Spends Record $2.2 Billion Buying Berkshire Shares

Warren Buffett kicked his stock-buyback program into high gear, spending $2.2 billion on repurchases in the last three months of 2019, the most ever in a single quarter – and he’s looking to buy even more. Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., which loosened its repurchase policy almost two years ago after being stymied on the dealmaking front, has since taken a cautious approach to buybacks, acquiring only $6.3 billion of stock. In the fourth quarter, Buffett bought shares every month, and has no plans to slow down, if the price is right.

“Shareholders having at least $20 million in value of A or B shares and an inclination to sell shares to Berkshire may wish to have their broker contact Berkshire’s Mark Millard,” Buffett said in his annual letter to shareholders Saturday. “We request that you phone Mark between 8:00-8:30 a.m. or 3:00-3:30 p.m. Central Time, calling only if you are ready to sell.”

Even as Buffett ramped up his repurchases, Berkshire’s massive pile of cash hovered close to a record, totaling $128 billion at the end of 2019. Buffett, Berkshire’s chairman and chief executive officer, has sought to redeploy those funds into higher-returning deals or stock purchases, but has been stymied by what he’s said are “sky-high” prices for good businesses.

Buffett spent a portion of his annual letter reassuring shareholders about the future of the company once it’s no longer run by the billionaire investor and his business partner, Charlie Munger, who turned 96 this year. At Berkshire’s annual meeting in May, shareholders will be able to submit questions to be answered by lieutenants Ajit Jain or Greg Abel, Berkshire vice chairmen who are considered top contenders to someday replace Buffett. They answered a few investors questions at last year’s meeting.

Berkshire’s operating earnings fell to $4.42 billion in the fourth quarter, down 23% from a year earlier, driven by underwriting losses at its namesake reinsurance group, which was hurt by typhoons in Japan, wildfires in California and Australia, and widening losses at its business writing retroactive reinsurance contracts. Berkshire’s Class A shares last year underperformed the S&P 500 Index by the widest margin since 2009. The stock has gained just 1.1% this year. Also in Berkshire’s 2019 annual report, released alongside Buffett’s letter Saturday: Kraft Heinz Co., which counts Berkshire as its largest shareholder, had a tumultuous 2019, with writedowns, management shakeups and downgrades to junk. Buffett’s company carries its Kraft Heinz investment on its balance sheet at $13.8 billion, a figure unchanged since 2018’s fourth quarter, even as the market price of the stake dropped to $10.5 billion at the end of last year.Berkshire’s BNSF railroad posted a 3.8% gain in profit in the fourth quarter, just shy of record earnings in the previous three months, as a decline in expenses helped counter falling revenue across shipments of products such as coal, consumer items and agricultural goods. In 2019, Berkshire Hathaway stock posted its worst underperformance of the broader market in a decade, and have gained 1.1% this year through Friday's close. Buffett again failed to make a major acquisition for Berkshire Hathaway. In the absence of a large company purchase, Berkshire Hathaway bought back a record $2.2 billion of its stock in the fourth quarter. Over the entire year, the company spent $5 billion on repurchasing its own stock.

The company posted net earnings of $29.2 billion in the year, up from a loss of $25.4 billion a year earlier when the company had to take a major write-down on its investment in Kraft Heinz Co. Operating earnings fell 23% in 2019 to $4.4 billion.
