"It's inconceivable that Robert Mueller ran this investigation. One thing that was evident in seven hours of testimony is that he only has a remote familiarity with his own report and with the investigation. He was actually staff-driven and that's what the president has been saying all along," he said.
Host Steve Doocy noted that the president's critics have long chastised him for claiming "13 angry Democrats" were fueling the probe, often countering that Robert Mueller was ensuring the fairness of the proceedings.
McCarthy said he would have liked to see Republicans also ask some open-ended questions since Mueller didn't seem "up to" giving sufficient answers.
"I would have asked him, ya know, why don't you tell us three or four of the questions you would have asked President Trump," he said.
Mueller delivered his long-awaited testimonies in front of two House committees Wednesday regarding his summary report of the nearly two-year investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and related matters.
In his opening statement to the House Judiciary Committee, Mueller warned Democratic and Republican lawmakers that his "testimony will necessarily be limited," and thus he would not discuss details of the FBI's Russia investigation, the Steele Dossier or the actions of Attorney General William Barr.
On numerous occasions, Mueller either directed committee members to the report or said "I'm not going to discuss that," "I can't answer that," "I'm not certain I would adopt that characterization," or "That's out of my purview." He also refused to read from the report himself and gave one-word answers to a number of questions or attempts at clarification, saying "yes," "no," "true," or "correct" throughout his testimony.

As expected, the ECB did not cut rates at today's rate cut, but in a move that was widely expected, the ECB did hint that rate cuts are coming, by adding the "or lower" language, when saying that "Governing Council expects the key ECB interest rates to remain at their present or lower levels at least through the first half of 2020."
Translation: a 10bps rate cut is now assured.
But wait, there was more, with the central bank noting the "need for a highly accommodative stance of monetary policy for a prolonged period of time, as inflation rates, both realised and projected, have been persistently below levels that are in line with its aim." As a result, the Governing Council noted that it was "determined to act, in line with its commitment to symmetry in the inflation aim. It therefore stands ready to adjust all of its instruments, as appropriate, to ensure that inflation moves towards its aim in a sustained manner."
In other words, if the Fed is cutting the ECB will also be cutting, and since the Fed launched "symmetric" inflation targeting, i.e. overshooting inflation to the upside, so will the ECB (how it will get there is another matter entirely).
Finally, the ECB also hinted that QE may be coming as soon as September, noting that the Governing Council "has tasked the relevant Eurosystem Committees with examining options, including ways to reinforce its forward guidance on policy rates, mitigating measures, such as the design of a tiered system for reserve remuneration, and options for the size and composition of potential new net asset purchases."
As a reminder, earlier this week we noted an analysis from Goldman, explaining why cutting rates without tiering would be disastrous for European banks, which is why - lo and behold - Draghi (formerly of Goldman) announced just that - tiering is coming, which is good news for Europe's bank and is the reason why they have jumped on the news of even lower rates.
In short, the race to the currency bottom has arrived.

At today’s meeting the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 0.00%, 0.25% and -0.40% respectively. NZ police make massive payout in first ever gun amnesty event
New Zealand police have paid back more than NZ$430,000 (AU$288,000) to 169 gun owners after dozens of Christchurch locals handed back their firearms on Saturday.
The money was paid directly into the bank accounts of gun owners.
Saturday’s event is the first of more than 250 planned buyback events around New Zealand after the government outlawed many types of semiautomatics.In the wake of the Christchurch attacks, New Zealand lawmakers rushed through new legislation to ban so-called military-style weapons in April.
The government has since set aside more than NZ$200 million to buy back weapons such as AR-15 style rifles, although many gun owners remain unhappy with the compensation on offer.
Under the amnesty, gun owners have until December to turn over their now-banned weapons.
Police said at least 14,000 guns around the country are banned under the new legislation. There are an estimated 1 million to 1.5 million guns in New Zealand and 250,000 licensed gun owners.
Under the buyback scheme, gun owners are compensated between 25 per cent and 95 per cent of the pre-tax price of a new gun, depending on the condition of their weapon.
People who own guns that are not banned under the new laws can also turn over their weapons during the amnesty, although they won’t get any compensation.
Police said a half-dozen such weapons were turned in during yesterday’s event at Riccarton Racecourse in Christchurch.
Police are using hydraulic machines to crush the gun barrels and firing mechanisms of the weapons that are handed in — rendering them inoperable — before disposing of them.
Mike Johnson, an acting district police commander, said the Christchurch buyback had been a success and the attitude of gun owners “outstanding.”
“We opened early to facilitate the public coming through — and they went right through to past 3 o’clock. The engagement from the public has been stunning,” he told the NZ Herald.
Mr Johnson is hopeful that, after yesterday’s success, hopefully more of them would have increased confidence in the process.
“This law change doesn’t make people who’ve got these firearms bad. They’re good New Zealanders. [We’re] encouraging them to come in and partake in the process during the six-month period, so that we honour the intent behind the legislation.”
Police Minister Stuart Nash said the results from the first collection were very encouraging.
“Many of those who handed over firearms commented how easy the process is, how the prices are fair, and how police made the whole event go smoothly,” Nash said in a statement.
But Nicole McKee, the secretary of the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners, said the government was short-changing gun owners by trying to complete the buyback on the cheap.
She said gun owners were forced to rely on police assessments of the condition of their guns and weren’t getting paid anything for the thousands of dollars they had spent on tax as well as certain accessories and ammunition.
“They do want to abide by the new laws but they have no incentive and they’re having fingers pointed at them and are being treated like criminals,” McKee told AP.
“They’re angry at the way they’re being treated.”
The council has launched a crowd-funding campaign to raise money to fight against possible further government-imposed gun restrictions. McKee, who declined to say how much money they had raised, said they hadn’t received any money from the U.S. National Rifle Association as far as she was aware.
She said the group wasn’t in communication with the NRA, other than receiving a note of sympathy from the U.S. organisation after the March attacks.
Hera Cook, a public health researcher who co-founded the group Gun Control NZ after the March attacks, said that before the massacre, most New Zealanders had no clue how easy it was to get hold of weapons capable of being used for mass killings.
She said she hopes the government enacts further gun control measures, including creating a register of guns and introducing shorter license periods for gun owners.
She said some of the gun owners complaints about getting short-changed or treated badly appeared to have some merit, and that “wasn’t a good look” for the government.

The pictures of late have very likely been from inside a hotel or motel room. There have been several instances where the ID posting these pictures has also worked conjunctively with other IDs posting … I am not really sure what to call them.
While it is possible it is one person on multiple devices using the mobile networks, I am running with the idea that this is not just some random autist posting stuff to the chans.
