Big pharma makes money when the FDA makes the price of getting medication approved for sale so high that no one can afford to market their cures. And if they try to sell it as a natural supplement, look out. They will be shut down and fined through the nose for making claims. I know there are people out there selling snake oil but the FDA really crosses the line.
I remember a company about 20 years a go that was selling a natural food product that really did lower cholesterol and the FDA shut it down just because you can't say that it treats this condition. I would bet that the manufacturer of cholesterol medications made sure that the FDA took that action.
