What I said was that most living Christians are on some level aware that others tell them their faith is a lie. This is probably actually MORE true of the more sincere and devoted believers. I recall that Pope Benedict took this as a starting point in some of his writings.

I am not sure. I think a lie is a lie. BUT maybe there are some cases where it is needed the problem then becomes who decides if it is needed. But some people do think that the crutch is literally the only way to live or exist. Think of people who have been affected by Munchousen by proxie (sp) or something similar.
