"Half-forgotten" sunspot drawings by Renaissance astronomer Johannes Kepler are showing us more about how the sun's cycle of activities work.

Kepler (1571-1630), who was born in what we now call Germany, is best known in astronomy for formulating the laws of planetary motion.

His diverse interests, however, included looking at the sun.

Drawings he made of a sunspot group in 1607, a new study reveals, show the "tail-end of the solar cycle" with instrumentation before the telescope was more widely available in the early 17th century.

"The group's findings … offer a key to resolving the controversy on the duration of solar cycles at the beginning of the 17th century," Japan's Nagoya University wrote in a statement.

Known as the Maunder Minimum, this period (between 1645 and 1715) was said to be an era of fewer sunspots than usual, which in turn led to colder periods on Earth than the norm of the day.

Since Kepler lacked the telescope, he instead examined the sun using camera obscura.

That method used a "small hole in a wall to project the sun's image onto a sheet of paper," the statement noted. Kepler at first thought he was witnessing a transit of Mercury across the sun, but later clarified it was a sunspot group.

"This is the oldest sunspot sketch ever made with an instrumental observation and a projection," lead author Hisashi Hayakawa, an assistant professor and solar scientist at Nagoya, said in a statement. He added the significance of Kepler's solar drawings was overlooked, over the eras:

"It has only been discussed in the context of the history of science and had not been used for quantitative analyses for the solar cycles."

Key to the researchers' analysis was tracking how sunspots move across a solar cycle: "Their occurrence, frequency, and latitudinal distributions appear in cycles that affect solar radiation and space weather," the statement noted.

As such, they worked to narrow down what latitude Kepler's sunspots were observed at.

The researchers say their analysis of Kepler's drawings revealed four major things.

First, the sunspot group was at a lower latitude than previously believed (after taking into account the solar position angle from his location); related to that, future findings in the telescope showed sunspots at higher latitudes, suggesting "a typical transition" between cycles.

The latitude change suggests the sunspot group was at the end of one solar cycle instead of the beginning of another, based on the latitude of the sunspots, which formulated the third finding.

Finally, Kepler's observations may show the transition zone between solar cycles, which the study pegged between 1607 and 1610.

While some researchers previously theorized the Maunder Minimum arose from irregular solar cycles different than the typical 11 years, Kepler's records showed "a regular duration" for the solar cycle he observed in 1607, the study added.

But the finding is not without controversy: tree ring cycles from previous studies have suggested normal solar cycles in some work, and abnormal solar cycles in others.

Hayakawa urged further examinations on the matter. "It is extremely important to check these [tree rings] reconstructions with independent – preferably observational – records," he said.

The new study was published in The Astrophysical Journal on July 25.

Trump co-campaign manager and GOP political strategist Chris LaCivita joins 'The Brian Kilmeade Show' to discuss Democrats' push to replace Biden, the bump in support for Kamala Harris and Trump's decision to choose JD Vance as his running mate.

There is a constitutional process of succession that would take effect if President Biden were to step down from his role as commander in chief.

Speculation over whether Biden can finish the remainder of his current term heightened after he suddenly withdrew from the 2024 presidential race. If the president did decide to resign before the end of his term, several steps would be taken to form a new cabinet.

According to Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, the vice president becomes president if the president is unable to discharge duties due to death, resignation, removal from office or other reasons. So, if Biden were to step down as president today, Vice President Kamala Harris would be sworn in as the 47th president and serve out the remainder of his term.

If a vice president is promoted to president, the vice presidency is vacated.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is third in line to the presidency, but he would not step into the position if Harris became president. The only case where the sitting speaker of the House becomes president would be if both the president and vice president died or resigned at the same time.

When the vice president assumes the role of president, the new president is responsible for appointing a new vice president, as stated in Section 2 of the 25th Amendment. If this scenario were to unfold today, Harris would become president and nominate a vice president.

However, the pick needs to first be approved by a majority in both chambers of Congress, which has a party split with Republicans enjoying a majority in the House and Democrats leading in the Senate.

Both the House and the Senate would vote on the approval of the vice president.

The House held up all legislative business for nearly two weeks to vote on a new speaker of the House in 2023 after Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced a motion to vacate Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R–Calif.

Republican lawmakers have also proposed an alternative scenario to dismiss the current commander in chief.

If the vice president and Cabinet members believe the sitting president is unable to serve, they can invoke the 25th Amendment and oust him from the postilion.

In this case, the vice president would become acting president, but the president can still claim an ability to serve. A two-thirds vote by Congress would be necessary to oust the president in that case.

Huge Airstrikes Rock Densely-Populated Beirut Suburb As Israel's Retaliation Begins

Israel's anticipated big 'retaliation' has begun, apparently, after major airstrikes were felt in the Lebanese capital of Beirut. Large smoke clouds were seen above a suburb in southern neighborhoods, sparking momentary panic and a large emergency response amid reported casualties.

FBI Now Claims Trump’s Would-Be Assassin Allegedly Ran an “Anti-Immigrant and Anti-Semitic” Social Media Account — GAB Founder Refutes This Claim with FBI’s Own Receipt

Now, Torba asserts that the FBI’s claims were inconsistent with Gab’s understanding of Crooks’ motives.

He wrote:

The FBI is now claiming that the Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks had an unspecified “social media account” in 2019/2020 (when he was 14/15 years old) that posted “anti-immigrant and anti-semitic” content.

This is not consistent with Gab’s understanding of the shooter’s motives based on an Emergency Disclosure Request (“EDR”) we received from the FBI last week for the Gab account “EpicMicrowave” which, based on the content of that EDR, the FBI appeared to think belonged to Thomas Crooks.

Many, particularly regime media reporters, have doubted Gab’s claims that this request existed. Normally we don’t confirm the existence or content of law enforcement communications. In this instance we had to make an exception due to the overwhelming public interest in disclosure and transparency.

As a courtesy to law enforcement, we are not going to post the entire request. This is the first page of that request.

The story is this: the account for which data was requested was, UNEQUIVOCALLY, pro-Biden and in particular pro-Biden’s immigration policy.

To the best of Gab’s knowledge, as of 2021, Crooks was a pro-lockdown, pro-immigration, left-wing Joe Biden supporter.

Torba’s response included a partial release of the EDR, which the FBI states, “FBI investigative efforts identified several E-Mails, Telephones, and One Possible GAB account associated with Crooks. This Emergency Disclosure Request is being submitted to identify any co-conspirators.”

MI AG Dana Nessel Appears To Have LIED About Who Owned the Semi-Automatic Rifles With Suppressors Found In Raid of Dem-Funded GBI Strategies Voter Registration Headquarters

MI AG Dana Nessel appears to have lied about the owner of 4 semi-automatic rifles with suppressors and modified pistols that were found stored in a Pelican case during a raid of the Democrat-funded GBI Strategies headquarters in Southfield, MI.

On October 16, 2020, the Muskegon City Clerk’s office called the Muskegon Police Department to investigate what appeared to be a mass voter registration fraud effort targeting urban communities across the state of Michigan. Between 8,000 and 10,000 voter registrations (many of which, according to the police reports, were fake) were being mailed from the Staybridge hotel in Auburn Hills, MI, and from the GBI Strategies/Empower Michigan headquarters in Southfield, MI, to the Muskegon Clerk’s office.

Later in our investigation, we discovered that clerks across the state of MI were receiving similar packages from GBI Strategies.

Although the Gateway Pundit was provided access to a private MI Clerks Facebook page that revealed many clerks across the state were receiving similar packages filled with fraudulent voter registrations, Muskegon Clerk Ann Meisch appears to have been the only clerk to have reported the fraudulent voter registrations to law enforcement.

Curiously, top elected Democrats SOS Jocelyn Benson, and MI AG Dana Nessel, kept the large-scale voter fraud investigation a secret from the public, and even worse, they never told MI clerks to be on the lookout for fake registrations that if successfully added to the MI voter rolls, could shift the outcome of the election.
