The FBI Exposed

One man’s experience demonstrates how the FBI needs to be exposed for what it has become and how it has betrayed the nation and its very own motto.

It saddens many of us that the FBI, unfortunately, has become more akin to the KGB than the independent and efficient arm of the Department of Justice it was intended to be. To the surprise and horror of the American people, among it’s many failures, the FBI has repeatedly failed to protect Americans (remember 9/11) and the U.S. Constitution. The motto of the FBI is “Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity,” which has become a farce. The truth is we no longer trust the FBI.

It is hardly surprising now to hear many conservative and law-abiding people, as well as some brave political leaders, say the FBI should be broken up. Its abilities could be reassigned, in parts, to other federal agencies or cut from appropriations altogether. It could be radically downsized. It may be the only way to deal with what has become an extrajudicial, politicized, and rogue agency—totally out of control and lacking oversight. It seems every day we get more and more evidence to that effect—and there are whistleblowers galore.

My Personal Experience with the FBI

I have had only one set of dealings with the FBI. On March 27, 2018 I flew on a long international flight into Boston’s Logan International airport. I was to connect to a domestic flight enroute to my in-law’s house, just outside of Cleveland, Ohio for the Easter holidays.

After exiting the plane, I was escorted to a special line for passport control. There, I was formally detained and asked to wait, along with my wife who was traveling with me. They would not say why, and I found it most curious as I was a frequent flier and went back and forth between the United States, U.K., and Europe and elsewhere many times a year. I never had such treatment.

After about 20 minutes left waiting, we were taken by a TSA official and an FBI agent to a separate hall where they thoroughly checked my suitcase and asked about any electronic devices, phones, or computers I had in my possession.

This all seemed very foreboding and I have never experienced anything like this before, unless you include trips to Communist China or in the old world to eastern bloc countries as a diplomat.

What’s going on, I thought?

When they found nothing suspicious and would not answer my questions about why they were detaining me, they separated me from my wife and told her to wait in a lounge, without explanation, while I was to be interviewed. That is all they said. Naturally, this left her in a state of total confusion and near panic.

What had I done? Why me? Why this arrangement and detention?

I was then escorted to another building and into a secure conference room with padded walls where two FBI agents introduced themselves to me. They said I was being detained to answer questions regarding the Department of Justice Special Counsel probe and showed me their identification and badges.

They seemed to know everything about me and had my color photograph and personal details and said in intimidating ways that it was a felony to lie to the FBI. I stated that I realized that, and I would readily, in fact gladly, cooperate with them. They never allowed me to call my attorney.

I did, however, find it objectionable to be treated in that way, as I was entering my home country, where I am a citizen and have served at the highest levels of government. They did not need to use such tactics or intimidation. I am a United States patriot and would do anything and everything to assist the government and I had no information that I believed was relevant.

They asked for my cell phone and any laptop (I didn’t have a computer on me) and produced a document, marked “warrant” in bold print, to seize it and perform forensics on it. I signed permission and asked if at least I could keep my drivers’ license and credit cards. They said yes, and they gave them back to me. They then demanded the code to open the phone and I was told I would be held in contempt, if I did not offer it. One of the agents took the phone into another back room and downloaded items but returned to say they would need to keep it and take it to Washington, D.C. for a full assessment. I asked when I could get it back. They assured me in a few days they would definitely get it to me—one way or another.That did not happen. It took months and it was altered.

The other agent then proceeded just short of about two hours to interrogate me and involved himself in various disarming chit-chat about my career, sterling academic credentials, top-secret codeword government clearances from an earlier era, and my being a fan of the championship Philadelphia Eagles. All well and good, I presumed. What did they really want? Why me? And why in this underhanded fashion? What had I done? I should state at this point, and they knew it, that I had taken both the month-long course on intelligence and the two week one on negotiation, when I was at the Department of State during the Reagan Administration, given by the Foreign Service Institute. I knew their game.

The questions got more detailed about my involvement in the Trump campaign (which was informal and unpaid); whom I communicated with, the whole list; whom I knew and how well—they had a very long list of names, starting with Steve Bannon and running the gamut.

They seemed to then focus more attention on Roger Stone (whom I have met a grand total of three times and only briefly and in company); Jerome Corsi, a journalist who had been the acquiring editor of a memoir I had written some years ago; and about Wikileaks, about which I knew nothing.

“Had I ever visited the Ecuadorian embassy in London?” they asked again, and again. They were trying to break me down and catch me up, which is a very old and tested interrogation technique.

No, I replied truthfully. They already knew that and surely had all the CCTV tapes from that very place.

I was unfazed and very dubious about why they thought I knew anything. I couldn’t help but wonder: had they read a copy of my soon-to-be-released book, The Plot to Destroy Trump: How the Deep State Fabricated the Russian Dossier to Subvert the President? The timing of this interrogation along with the nearing publication date just days off, seems to me to suggest, yes, they had read it. Closely, and with a fine-tooth comb.

Then they served me with a subpoena, which I noticed had only been issued that very day by an Obama appointed magistrate, not a judge, in Boston. I was to appear before the Mueller grand jury in Washington, D.C. that Friday. They said I could telephone the lead attorney on that team, Aaron Zelinsky, and make necessary arrangements.

They shook my hand and had agents take me to my wife, who was very alarmed and in disbelief. They then escorted us to the adjoining terminal to catch our delayed domestic flight. I have to believe they delayed it.

I called the special counsel’s office the next morning and they said it would be better to appear later, which we agreed would be April 13 and they would pay for my travel, room and board. I told them I had legal representation and asked that they establish contact. For the record, that excellent counsel, over months and months,ended up costing me about $60,000.

The deep state was sending a signal and had no doubt read my detailed book which implicated them. They wanted to intimidate me and knew well that I had no connection whatsoever to Julian Assange.

What could they want from me, a professor—a policy wonk, and philosophical defender of conservatism and Trump? Well, I had endorsed him in a 2015 Forbes article, saying we needed another TR and the economic nationalism that made America great.

I am not and have never been an operative, have no Russian contacts, and—aside from appearing on air and in print often to defend and congratulate our Donald J. Trump—have done nothing wrong. What message does this send? I will tell you—stay clear of Trump and all things Trump or the globalists and deep state will get you as they say, “seven ways to Sunday.”

I have written in this publication about “My Time in the Tank” being interrogated by the FBI and their panels for days, and then hauled before the Mueller Grand Jury. In the end, that failure found nothing and the Russia hoax was called out for what it was.

Only recently, was the full affidavit behind the warrant declassified and unsealed, with redactions, and released.

What’s the Upshot?

The lead FBI special agent in my case, Curtis Heide, has now been reprimanded and is under investigation for misconduct. It is notable that he was a lead agent in the notorious operation “Crossfire Hurricane.” He bragged about it.

Heide’s direct boss was one, Peter Strzok, need we say any more? Why isn’t he in jail?

The FBI told me, and my lawyers, I was only a witness never a target. The affidavit says otherwise. They lied. Clearly, they wanted to “Papadopoulos” me, to turn a surname into a verb.

The FBI surveils people constantly, without their knowledge, without authority to do so, and even if you are outside the country. The Fourth Amendment is out the window.

In my case, the issue seems to have centered around a single email Roger Stone—through a third party, no less—had forwarded to me. I never answered it or did anything about it at all. It was a ridiculous request and one I would never take up under any circumstances. “Get to Assange” was outside my wheelhouse or capability. But I was for Trump, so they had a predicate.

The document shows the great lengths to which the FBI had gone to try and show Trump had ties to the Russians and their election influence and cyber ops. Yet, he did not.

The FBI said I offered to go to the Cleveland Republican National Committee convention as a Trump advisor. I did, admitted such, and I guess that was a significant crime in their eyes, as well.

Finally, this proves not only a strong political bias on the part of the FBI, against Trump, and against anyone remotely on his team, but it shows just how much the FBI knows about all your details, doings, GPS tracking, emails, telephone and FaceTime calls, videos, financial transactions, the cache in your computer and related devices, travel plans, workplace, networks . . . everything. Scary stuff.

I was not charged with anything because I didn’t do anything wrong.

The FBI needs to be exposed for what it has become and how it has betrayed the nation and its very own motto.

Former chief of staff to US Secretary of State Colin Powell: Best case scenario for "Israel" in future war with Hezbollah would be a stalemate

Retired US army colonel Lawrence Wilkerson who worked as chief of staff for former Secretary of State Colin Powell between 2002 and 2005, has described the Israeli military as lacking in competence. In a wide-ranging interview with Al Mayadeen English, Wilkerson refers to conversations he had with sources within the Israeli military, revealing that according to these sources, this military had become purely “occupational” in its nature. He adds that "Israel" is no longer capable of carrying out conventional military operations in the way it did in 1967 or 1973. In response to a question about who would emerge victorious in a future war between Hezbollah and "Israel", Wilkerson—who served 31 years in the US military– predicts that the best result "Israel" could achieve would be a stalemate after having been given a “pretty bloody nose” in 2006. On the issue of the Biden administration's stance toward the breakout of a new war between Lebanon and "Israel", Wilkerson’s assessment is that this administration is not supportive of such a war taking place.

Regarding the Biden administration's policy in the Middle East, Wilkerson states that while Biden will be supportive of "Israel, this support will be “pragmatic” as opposed to blind support. The former US diplomat and army veteran also expresses his belief that Biden personally supports a return to the nuclear deal with Iran despite any Israeli reservations in this regard.

On the domestic situation in the United States, Wilkerson warns of an alliance within the US military between what he describes as “Christian nationalists” and “MAGA (Make America Great Again) soldiers”. According to Wilkerson, there is information being circulated that former White House chief strategist under the Trump administration Steve Bannon, and like-minded individuals are seeking to take advantage of this alliance in order to create a military that will be subservient to the Republican party. He further cautions that the “proper civil-military relationship” in the United States is eroding.

And on the issue of Trump's possible return to power, Wilkerson dismisses the likelihood of such a scenario playing out, further casting doubt on Trump even being nominated as the Republican candidate for the next presidential elections. The more likely Republican nominee says Wilkerson would be Ros De Santis, warning that the rise of such individuals is a cause for concern and that De Santis seeks to establish a fascist state in America.

Q: Mr. Wilkerson, I want to start with the recent escalation between Lebanon and “Israel” - the gas fields. Do you anticipate war on the horizon?

A: That's a very difficult question to answer, always, with that region. War is always on the horizon in that region. Is it more so now than in the past, or might it be more so tomorrow? I don't think so. However, I have to caveat that with the situation in “Israel” right now with the incredible inability to put a government together. I mean, that's the best way to put it, a government with any consistency. As much as I despise Bibi Netanyahu, he did have a consistent government with a consistent policy - it wasn't a good policy, was a disastrous policy in my mind. But at least he had a government. One hesitates to say where “Israel” is going to go at any given time right now. I'm hearing, for example, and this is just an anecdote, but it's indicative, from people I know both in the "IDF" and out of it who know about the "IDF" that the "Israeli Defense Force" has become a purely occupational force. And this has happened because of, one, the occupation, and two, because the occupation drives many good soldiers away. They do not like that kind of duty. And so, they have left the "IDF", so now what you have left in the "Israeli Defense Force" are less than savory characters and less competent conventional soldiers. They've lost their ability in many respects to do the kinds of things that they did in ‘67, for example, or even in ’73. The kind of blitzkrieg armored warfare, because they don't have the experience anymore. It's been so long since they did any of that. So, if I were “Israel” and I were thinking coherently - and that again comes back, that they don't have a government, a consistent government - I would be very leery of taking anybody in the region on that had some degree of competence. Hezbollah comes to mind immediately. And as we know, Hezbollah is pretty much integrated into Lebanon's political structure now. So, I would be very leery were I an Israeli leader at this time for those two reasons. One, the policy is very difficult to keep consistent and very difficult to get consensus on. And two, the "IDF" is not as competent as it once was, perhaps is even much less competent than it once was.

Q: If a war was to break out, if you were to put your money on who would win between Hezbollah and ‘Israel”, would you be betting with Hezbollah?

A: I think based on the previous experience, where "Israel" got a pretty bloody nose with Hezbollah, I think I'd have to say it would be a stalemate at best. Now, I hasten to add that as in Ukraine, the United States and to a lesser extent other NATO countries, have made Ukraine what it is: able to stand up, at least in a sort of stalemate. to the Russian military. So, the United States would back “Israel” to the hilt, as it normally does, and that is hard to say any force in the Middle East could stand up against – other than the way, for example, they did in Iraq, the way they did in Syria and so forth, guerrilla warfare, which I don't think the Israelis want either.

Q: So, does the Biden administration, according to your information or according to your analytical perspective, does it support or would it support a new war breaking out between “Israel” and Lebanon?

A: I think not. I think its advice would be strong to whoever was the prime minister. And that advice would be: don't do this. Don’t do this. It would not come with the kind of threat I would like to see it come with, which is if you do it, I might not be there. That's the kind of threat I'd like to see a US president issue, much the way my president did, George H.W. Bush, not George W. Bush, but the father. During the Desert Shield/Desert Storm campaign, we told the Israelis if they entered that fray, we were not with them. And they held back even when Scud missiles hit their country. They held back, because they knew H.W. Bush was not going to back anything they did and, in fact, would probably censure them for it. So, it worked. But we haven't had a president like George H.W. Bush since then. We haven't had a president with that experience and a president with that courage and willingness to do that.

Q: You know this leads me to a question: Is America now missing people of expertise like Kissinger and the H. Bushes?

A: Absolutely. I sometimes shudder at the prospect of the current team or any envisioned team on either side, Republican or Democrat, and how badly they're going to manage things because of what I call inexperience and just plain stupidity. We are at a low point. We're at a nadir incompetent people in our political system right now. The one thing about the current president that gives me a little bit of hope, at least for the short term, is that I know he knows international policy, foreign policy, security, foreign policy very well. I dealt with him through Powell for a long time. So, he may seem a little old, and he may seem a little bit stumbling, but he knows the issues. And so, he's able to take people like Jake Sullivan and Antony Blinken and others, even Lloyd Austin at the Defense Department, and check them if he thinks they're going in the wrong direction. But that's about it. Those three people I just mentioned, I have very little respect for in terms of their competence and their ability to do the kinds of things that I think need to be done today, leading with what I call exquisite diplomacy. That is good diplomacy. They seem incapable of it.

Q: So, you just mentioned that you had dealings with Biden when he was a senator. According to these dealings, what's his approach towards the Middle East or his Middle East doctrine?

A: First and foremost, he's going to be a supporter of “Israel”. There's no question about that. But he's going to be a pragmatic supporter of “Israel”. He's not going to take it to the point where he lets them lead him down the primrose path. I mean, he has no problem saying to whoever is in charge in “Israel”: you're not going to do that and have my support. Now, whether or not that comes to fruition is another matter altogether. But I think you have to - if you're Bennett or whomever - you have to listen to that, and you have to doubt the prospect of him being with you full bore if you do something that he is objecting to. That's Biden. That's not Blinken and that's not Sullivan. And it's not anybody else I can find in the administration. You've watched Blinken, for example, deal with Wang Yi, who's a very competent man. I know Wang Yi from times that I had policy planning talks with him back in the early 2000s with Richard Haas. And I know Sergey Lavrov, and I know Powell had immense respect for Sergey Lavrov. He’s a fine diplomat. And Sergei's not loyal to Vladimir Putin. Sergey's loyal to mother Russia. That's who he worked for through Putin, of course, because he's the President. Both men have made fools of Blinken and to a certain extent, all of the US diplomatic establishment. And this business of the media now playing this story in London and in Washington that Zelensky and Ukraine are winning, are holding their own, and so forth, is the latest example of how propaganda gets form because it's not the case.

Q: You mentioned that Biden is not going to allow the Israelis to lead him, and this leads me to ask about the issue of Iran and the Iranian nuclear deal. What appears to be happening is that the Biden administration, similar to what Obama did, is not bowing down to the Israeli wishes and intends to go ahead with the nuclear deal. Is that how you see it?

A: I think that's true. I would say that I'm not altogether confident it's going to come off because the Iranians have some objections, of course, and they play in this ballgame also. But if it does come off, it will be largely, I think, because Biden's powerful attitude about it is that it should come off, and no one's going to stop him from doing that. And I think it's a mixed message coming from “Israel” right now. It depends on whether you're talking to the Mossad, the "IDF", or the political structure of retired or active duty. It just depends. I'm hearing about 50% of the so-called Israeli security complex is either guardedly or, even better, optimistic about the deal. Then I'm hearing others, like the director of the Mossad, whom I think is very much opposed to it. So, it's like it was with President Obama. There were people who were talking to me behind the scenes, for example, Israelis, whose views I knew were probably reflective of the majority of the Israeli security complex, who were telling me: yeah, we're for this. We're for this. We might not be able to - active-duty ones would say - we might not be able to come out and say that publicly, but we're for it. Because they understood that it really did freeze everything to the point of 95- 96% certainty for a good while, and they were willing to go for that freeze.

Q: Do you know for a fact, that Biden strongly supports the [nuclear] deal?

A: I think so. Yes, I think so. In its present configuration, as I understand it, and there are still a couple of things to be worked out, which makes me think the Iranians might not buy it in the end, but I think he supports it. Now, one of the things I think we have a problem with on the JCPOA or whatever we're going to call it renewed, is that the Iranians have to be thinking - particularly the leadership in the IRGC and even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs leadership - they have to be thinking what happens in 2024? We go through the same thing again. We get one of these Luddite Republicans in there who immediately backs the United States out of the deal again. How much sanctions relief can we get between now and the time that happens? Is it worth it? Probably not that much, given the experience with the United States in the past and the sanctions. So why would we want to go into it again, just to be again rebuffed when the Republican gets elected in 2024? So, I think that's got to be in the back of the Ayatollah's mind and leadership of the IRGC. They've got to be thinking that way.

Q: Speaking of the IRGC, what did you think of the news which came out that the IRGC was planning to assassinate John Bolton?

A: Well, I was one who said the Iranians will get back for Qassem Soleimani's assassination. They won't do it immediately, and they won't do it in a very visible way, but they will do it. So, I didn't have any problem believing that. Now, that doesn't mean I find it a favorable action, and I have no love for John Bolton. But that would strike me as the kind of way that the Iranians would eventually get back for that assassination.

Q: So, you don't think it was a hoax?

A: It could well have been a hoax. But as I said, that is the sort of thing I would expect out of the Iranian “the Persian mindset”, if you will. And I have some admiration for that mindset. After all, it's very, very old, very, very experienced. That's the kind of thing that when people will tell me, oh, they're going to hit us tomorrow in Iraq, or they’re going to hit us here, they're going to hit us there. No, they're not. If they hit us, it'll be way down the road and it'll be subtle, it'll be quick, and it'll be deadly.

Q: We saw, in the end, that Biden did meet with Mohammed bin Salman. What's the Middle East policy? Is there one to start with? A fixed Middle East policy?

A: It is difficult to ascertain a specific one. But this is typical of the United States, especially in the last 20 years. You have to go sort of piecemeal on this issue. What's the policy on this issue? You can't find even a strategic, let alone a grand strategic policy, that you can put all these pieces into. I do think a couple of things are becoming clear, though, and one is that while we can't deny that we still have one of the greatest force lay downs in the world in that region– everything from a reception facility in Kuwait to Al Udeid, which is the largest air force base in the world, to the ones in Saudi Arabia, military city and elsewhere, to the largest fleet headquarters in Bahrain. I mean, we have the biggest lay down of forces not in Europe, not in Korea, not in Guam. No, we have it in the Middle East. So, it's really counterintuitive for me to say this, but I think we are beginning to understand that military power is not the right instrument in that region. Economic, financial, and diplomatic work is probably more bookable. We still have this force lay down, and we still have a four-star general who thinks he sometimes is a Tsar out there. And we have another four-star general in Tampa who is the Special Operations Command commander who just covets that region. And that puts Navy SEALs and all manner of other people out there, too. So, you've got that kind of back current going on all the time. That's what's happening in Syria right now.

Q: So, the first general you are talking about; you're talking about the head of CENTCOM?

A: Yes. I'm not sure the new general is as war hungry, as was the former one, the Marine. But when you look at the lay down of forces and you look at what's happening with those forces, you have to conclude - and, you know, I watched this for 31 years - when you put that kind of force on the ground and you put someone in charge of it, he's looking for someplace to use that force. He's looking to justify his budget and his existence and to make a name for himself, and that's dangerous. Same problem in Africa, although we've kinda backed away from our very, very forward-leaning approach to Africa when we created Africa Command, which was a big mistake, a huge mistake. Africa is not a military domain. Africa is a diplomatic and economic and humanitarian assistance domain. It's not a military domain. It's not a place where you want to drop bombs and kill people. And I would say the Middle East is becoming rapidly that way, too, at least for the United States. We've shown over the past 20 years that dropping bombs doesn’t work. It simply is counterproductive. And so, I do think that there is a part of Biden's wish, with regard to a grander strategic policy, is that we get this military instrument under control and quit using it.

Following a recent win in his legal battle to compel Michigan Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to purge 25,000 deceased voters from her state's rolls, Public Interest Legal Foundation President J. Christian Adams explained his suit on the "Just the News, Not Noise" television show on Friday.

After the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan last week denied Benson's bid to dismiss the legal nonprofit's suit against her, Adams decried the George Soros-backed election official's unwillingness to update her rolls despite PILF's documentation of the dead voters.

"Yeah, 25,000 dead registrants on the active rolls in Michigan — like 4,000 of them had been dead for 20 years," said Adams, a former Department of Justice voting rights attorney. "We had pictures of their gravestones in the complaint. We sent Jocelyn Benson … notice about these dead people before the 2020 election. She didn't do anything.

"We finally sued. She still hasn't done anything — tried to get the case dismissed saying we aren't allowed to sue" for lack of standing, "and she lost. So the case is gonna go forward. Every state that's faced these kind of lawsuits eventually settles with us. Let's see if she does."

Adams explained how blue states have sought to evade responsibility for maintaining voter rolls, opening the door to mistakes and mischief.

"[B]lue states in many cases — New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maine, I could go down the list — are run by sort of ideological state election officials who are opposed to list maintenance," he said. "It was part of [Democrats' voting overhaul bill] HR 1, if you remember a year ago, that they were going to ban all this maintenance as a matter of federal law. That failed, of course, and they are against list maintenance.

"They would rather have polluted voter rolls than mistakenly remove somebody who should not be removed — they'll tell you that's what they think … the problem is, when you have a system that is now so heavily vote-by-mail, when you have all of these automatic things going to homes, polluted voter rolls is step one to problems — and that's what happened in Nevada, that's what happened in Michigan, Pennsylvania. Judith Presto, remember the name Judith Presto. She got registered to vote, voted by mail, and she was dead."

Q: And do you think Biden is pushing in that direction? I mean, he does have a history of opposing the generals.

A: Yes, he does, and I do think he's pushing in that direction. But I think he's up against some, like I said, a formidable force. Because you look at that fleet headquarters, the Navy loves that fleet headquarters, and they love that Fifth Fleet, and they love what it does every day. How would you get the Navy, for example, to recognize, maybe they are beginning to, but it's taken a long time that the Bab Al-Mandeb in the Red Sea is far more important than the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. More commerce passes through the Bab Al-Mandeb and up through the Suez Canal than ever passed through the Persian Gulf. And most of the commerce through the Strait of Hormuz is stuff we need to get off of fossil fuels. But the Bab Al-Mandeb is everything its half of - I think I saw the other day - it's half of China's production coming up through there and going to Europe and North America and all over. So, the Navy needs to figure that out. The US Navy needs to figure out and stop this concentration. But see, that takes power away from Central Command. You shift it over to the Bab Al-Mandeb, then you've got an argument over who's it going to belong to. Is it going to belong to the Central Command? is it going to belong to the European Command or African Command? The latter is the territorial limit. But then you got a fight between all these different people who have these fiefdoms out there. We've created these kingdoms all over the world with four-star generals and admirals in charge of them. And they, more than anything else in our repertoire, dictate our policy. Even our foreign policy. Certainly, our security policy, but they even dictate our foreign policy.

Q: So, when you say this, are you talking about what is commonly referred to as the military-industrial complex?

A: Yeah, that. But that's behind them, of course. But I'm specifically talking about the combatant commanders. I'll give you an example. The Japanese minister of defense once said to me: “I don't want to see the assistant secretary of State for East Asia in the Pacific. I'll let one of my underlings meet with him. But when the PACOM commander, the Pacific Command, Four-Star Admiral, comes here, I'm going to see him because he is bringing along with him carrier battle groups, air wings, and ground divisions. He's a powerful man. He's the real diplomat in the Pacific Theater, not your assistant secretary of state.” That's not the way it's supposed to be.

Q: So, are they more powerful than the presidents at times?

A: In their region? At times they are. Remember April 10th, 2001, when the US reconnaissance plane ran into the Chinese F-8 fighter, and the F-8 fighter pilot was killed in our plane with 24 sailors on board, went down on Hainan Island? That was a little bit of excessive policy setting by that combatant commander. He'd been told a number of times: "be careful. don't get too close, don't let your reconnaissance planes get too close" because the Chinese were constantly bouncing them. They were constantly sending fighters out to frighten them, and scare them. And every time you went in there, you knew they were going to do that, and they finally did it to the point where we had a crisis. Well, that's a military man leading policy.

Q: This brings to mind what happened when Obama and Putin reached an agreement regarding Syria's chemical weapons. And shortly after that, if you recall, there was the bombing in Deir Ezzor, and the agreement practically collapsed. Now, I did hear a theory that Ash Carter sabotaged Obama's initiative with Putin. What's your information on that?

A: I've heard that, but I don't have any insight into it to say yes or no. But it wouldn't surprise me. I'll tell you why: When I met with President Obama in the Roosevelt Room in the White House in September of his last year in office, 2015. He was supposed to be going to thank me and the general with me, General Paul Egan, for our help with the JCPOA. Getting it through Congress and so forth. We didn't get it through Congress, but at least we stopped them from killing it. He started off his conversation with us with these words: “There's a bias in this town toward war.” And then he spent about 15 minutes with John Kerry sitting right beside him, his Secretary of State at the time, telling us he wasn't sure he knew what to do about that. So, yeah, there's a bias in Washington toward war.

Q: Okay. Let's quickly go to the domestic situation in the United States. It goes without saying that there's a lot of talk about the US being headed to civil strife, some use the term civil war. Is this overblown according to what you see, or is it accurate?

A: To an extent it's overblown, but not to an extent that I don't feel some unease; some worry, some concern, and I'll tell you why: My latest reason for that concern is what General Milley apparently told- I guess- a New Yorker reporter who wrote the article that everyone was talking about and buzzing about where Milley essentially said we came very close to an insurrection under President Trump. And I'm worried about what is happening right now with regard to the military that then stood up to him to try and change that. And Bannon, Steve Bannon, is leading the effort, but there are lots of other people who are wearing uniforms and some of them wearing stars, working on it, too.

Q: This is an important point, are you saying that there is a division in the military and that there's a certain camp that supports Trump and his aides?

A: Yes, it's worse than that; It's two camps. It's a camp of Christian nationalists who have shown their ugly faces all over the military, and those Christian nationalists are allied more or less with what I would call the MAGA soldiers. You know, the soldiers that actually supported Trump but aren't necessarily Christian nationalists, they're allied with them, and Bannon is trying to fashion that - and others in the Trump camp - are trying to fashion that into a military that would be more compliant. Millie, I think, said one of the remarks made by one of the generals prompted Trump to say, “I would rather have generals like Hitler had,” you know, the German generals that obeyed everything. Of course, Trump forgot that they tried to kill him three or four times. But in any event, that gives you some indication of what Trump's feelings towards the generals were, whom he “loved” when he was first elected. And that reflects, I think, in a very incompetent, stupid Trump-like way, nonetheless, what happened at the end with regard to the expectations of others like Mark Meadows, the chief of staff, like General Flynn, outside, that the military would either be complacent and stand aside and let Trump do what he wanted to do to stay in office, or it might even help him. Bannon is going to make sure, and the Trump people are going to make sure, that the military changes are in that regard. At least that's what I'm hearing. Now, do they have a chance of accomplishing that? I don't think so, because I think there is enough left in the military of the proper civil-military relationship that should exist, that it'll be very difficult to overcome that. But it is eroding. It is eroding, and it's eroding because of this Christian nationalism, and because of some other groups that have infected the military that I would call violent extremists in the waiting. They're just waiting to come out of the military and join the Proud Boys or the Oath Keepers or some other similar group.

Q: Have you personally had any interaction with these Christian nationalists?

A: Quite a bit. I happen to be an advisory board member of something called the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and our whole mission is: Church and state divided. Church and state into separate entities in the military, in particular. And so, we deal with these dimensions, for example, the most forward-leaning group of Christian nationalists who believe that Jesus Christ should own the American military. And they have chaplains in the military, and they have people like Boebert from Colorado, a representative in the United States Congress who thinks Christianity should be the national religion, and the American military should be the enforcer of that religion. I mean, she has as much as said that publicly. People say Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert and these kinds of people are just crazies, but they're crazies with a mission. And that mission is to turn the United States armed forces into a Christian arm on the one hand and on the other hand turn it into an arm that would make sure whatever Republican is elected in 2024 doesn't get unelected.

Q: So, is this a new phenomenon?

A: Yes, but it's been building for some time. And the people who are smart with the Trump camp or around the Republicans who agree with much of this, like Bannon, have just now recognized it. They exploited it politically, of course. Trump is no Christian, but he got all these Christians to support him. All these evangelical groups and such supported him. And they would say things like Franklin Graham said, you know, “oh, well, we ally ourselves with the devil to reverse Roe v Wade. We would ally ourselves with the devil to get Bibles back in the classroom”, you know, that sort of thing. So, Bannon has now recognized, and others, too, I'm sure, that there's a synergy there. You get these evangelicals hooked up with these other people that we are more used to having on our side. And you've got a formidable team politically and otherwise.

Q: Do you expect Trump to be re-elected?

A: I do not. I do not even think he will be nominated. I think we're going to be looking at DeSantis or something like DeSantis, which worries me significantly, because, at the end of the day, Trump is an idiot. He's a moron. He's a very prolific speaker to the powers that be in America that are a little less than savory. And that's his secret. But he's a moron. DeSantis is very smart, and there are a couple of other Republicans who worry me in that regard, too. So, what you get with DeSantis, if he runs and is elected, is you get a Trump, but a very smart Trump. So, he won't make the mistakes Trump made. He'll be very careful about how he establishes basically a fascist state.

13 Minutes of Never-Before-Seen Footage of Ballot Trafficking in Detroit, Michigan – Including Postal Workers!

The Michigan Bureau of Elections issued an Election Officials Manual in October 2020.

According to this manual, the persons who may return an absentee ballot are limited to:

the voter

a member of the voter’s immediate family who has been asked to return the ballot

a person residing in the voter’s household who has been asked to return the ballot

a person whose job normally includes the handling of mail (but only during the course of his or employment)

an authorized election official

Ballot traffickers generally do not deposit a large number of ballots per drop box. With video surveillance, they are aware that this would be too obvious to those looking for violation of election laws. There were exceptions to this in what was noted at the Detroit drop boxes in 2020.

What follows is a sample list of the various multiple ballot drops which was observed by Michigan Citizens for Election Integrity (MC4EI.com), the team which reviewed and analyzed thousands of hours of surveillance videos of the Detroit drop boxes from the November 2020 general election. This list corresponds to various clips you will see in the ensuing video below.

Here is the list of clips of drop boxes you will be viewing in the video below:

Clip #1- Heilmann Recreation Center. A woman deposits a stack of about 50 ballots while another woman appears to be videotaping her. Both are wearing face masks.

Clip #2- Horatio Williams Foundation. A person in a vehicle has a stack of ballots which he takes a phone picture of and then hands it off to another man, who does not appear to be an election official, outside his car who holds the stack up next to the drop box and then carries the ballots off. Sound secure to you?

Clip #3- Liberty Temple (a stand alone drop box, not associated with a satellite voting center ie SVC). A woman wearing a Mickey Mouse t-shirt deposits what initially appeared to be 3 ballots, but actually turned out to be about 6.

Clip #4- Liberty Temple. A person made 11 motions in dropping ballots into the drop box with what appeared to be multiple ballots with each motion. The estimated amount dropped would be 30 to 40 ballots.

Clip #5- Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. A person had about 5 unsealed ballots which were deposited all at once after sealing them.

Clip #6- Farwell Recreation Center. A minimum of 7 or 8 ballots was deposited.

Clip #7- Palmer Community House. A woman who appeared to be a health care worker deposited at least 6 or more ballots.

Clip #8- Farwell Recreation Center. A woman deposited about 6 ballots.

Clip #9- Heilmann Recreation Center. A man deposited at least 5 ballots.

Clip #10-Kemeny Recreation Center. A woman had a stack of multiple ballots which she deposited all at once.

Clip #11- Farwell Recreation Center. A man deposits 6 ballots from a vehicle.

Clip #12- Liberty Temple. A woman deposits a stack of ballots.

Clip #13- Pistons Performance Center. A man with a phone deposits 5 ballots.

Clip #14- North Rosedale Park. A woman with a mask deposits 6 ballots.

Clip #15- Balduck Park. A person on the passenger side of a red truck takes a pic of the drop box and center. A vehicle then drives up with what appears to be a female health care worker who deposits 8 ballots.

Clip #16- Balduck Park. A woman appearing to be a health care worker deposits a minimum of 10 ballots.

Clip #17- Balduck Park. The same woman as noted in Clip#16 deposited 12 ballots.

Clip #18- Liberty Temple. A female postal worker drops a few ballots.

Clip #19- Liberty Temple. The same female postal person as in Clip #18 deposits multiple ballots.

Clip #20- Liberty Temple. The same female postal worker as in Clip #18 arrives in a private vehicle and deposits at least 10 ballots.

Clip #21- Male postal worker deposits about 10 ballots.

Clip #22 -Liberty Temple. Same male postal worker as seen in Clip#21 deposits multiple ballots.

If someone other than the voter is delivering their absentee ballot, it must be delivered to the clerk of the respective city or township office. Not to a drop box. There are no specific rules in Michigan regarding nursing home absentee voting. Michigan does not have special voting deputies for nursing homes as does Wisconsin. Therefore, the general rules apply as noted above.

As seen in the video, postal workers made visits to the drop boxes. MC4EI discussed this with postal service employees in the metro-Detroit area. None of them has ever delivered absentee ballots to drop boxes, but only to clerks offices.

Nancy Pelosi is already thinking of what happens when Democrats lose the House.

According to a new report, she wants to be Ambassador to Italy.

The report also states that this is one of the reasons Joe Biden has not filled the position yet.

The US Ambassador’s residence in Italy has a pool, private gardens, and a wine cellar.

Sources tell FOX Business’ that Pelosi wants President Biden to nominate her to become the next U.S. ambassador to Italy if the GOP takes the House majority in the midterm elections.

Biden is holding the spot for the speaker, sources say, which is one reason he has yet to fill the position since taking office. Speculation earlier this year that a Pelosi ally and former Wall Street executive wanted the job has shifted with the increasing likelihood that the GOP takes the majority.

There was no clarity yet on how a new Senate will react to a Pelosi nomination, but there was a mixed reaction to her in the role from sources this week.

Pelosi traveled to Italy for a vacation with her extended family in July.

Bed Bath & Beyond CFO Wasn’t Alone in NYC Apartment When He Jumped to His Death: Report

New reports say that the wife of former Bed Bath & Beyond chief financial officer Gustavo Arnal was with him in the final moments before he jumped to his death from the family’s 18th-floor Manhattan apartment.

Arnal, 52, died in what police have said appears to have been a suicide, according to The New York Times. His body was found Friday near the Jenga building where he lived, and “appeared to suffer from injuries indicative from a fall from an elevated position,” police said in a statement.

At the time of the plunge, his wife was in the apartment, according to the New York Post.

A law enforcement source said no suicide note was found, and that no criminal conduct is suspected, the Post reported.

Arnal had been married to his wife for 28 years, according to the Daily Mail. He leaves behind two daughters.

He also leaves behind a tangled financial mess that prompted a class action lawsuit on behalf of everyone who bought Bed Bath & Beyond stock between March 25 and Aug. 18, according to the Daily Mail.

The suit was filed about one week before Arnal’s death.

The suit was aimed at the activities of Arnal and investor Ryan Cohen alleging that actions were taken to artificially inflate the stock price.

The lawsuit said that Arnal’s role was accomplished by making “materially misleading statements and omissions about the company’s financial standing in an effort to artificially inflate the share price.”

“Through mid-August 2022, BBBY appeared — from the company’s public statements and financial reporting to be a successful turning-around company,” the lawsuit said.

The lawsuit claims the deceased executive “blatantly misrepresented the value and profitability of [the company] causing BBBY to report revenues that was fictitious [and] announce publicly that the company is successfully on the way spinning off BBBY to ‘unlock full value’ of this ‘tremendous asset,’” it said.

Bed Bath & Beyond, though, was not doing well financially, the lawsuit claimed.

After Cohen and Arnal sold their shares at a time the stock was high, the stock began to fall. Stock that had been selling at $30 a share before the sales was soon down to $16.16 a share, continuing to fall throughout the month.

Bed Bath & Beyond recently said it would close 150 stores and slash jobs in an effort to turn around the company, according to Reuters.

The store closings followed a second quarter in which same-store sales dropped 26 percent year over year.

Dutch Agriculture Minister Henk Staghouwer Abruptly Resigns After Protests

Thousands of Dutch farmers have protested recent Nitrogen rules that will force approximately 30% of Dutch cattle farms out of business. The Gateway Pundit reported on Dutch police opening fire on a 16-year-old farm boy and aiming guns at farmers in an effort to shut down the mass protests.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The Dutch agriculture minister has unexpectedly resigned, telling reporters he wasn’t the right person for the job following a tumultuous summer of protests by farmers over pollution regulations.

Henk Staghouwer, who held the position for only nine months, announced his decision Monday night. He had just returned from Brussels, where he negotiated an agreement with the European Commission to scrap a Dutch exemption to manure spreading limits.

The Netherlands, along with Denmark, Ireland and the Flanders region of Belgium, had been allowed to exceed caps on how much manure farmers could return to their fields because of the country’s comparatively small land area. But Brussels wants to phase out this dispensation because the Dutch are failing to meet EU water quality standards.

The country’s lucrative agriculture sector has been in crisis since a 2019 court ruling forced the government to slash emissions of nitrogen oxide and ammonia, which livestock produce. Thousands of farmers have staged protests, blockading cities with tractors and burning hay bales along highways.

A month ago, Western media reports were widely circulating which said North Korea offered Russia up to 100,000 of its own troops to fight in Ukraine, however, the story was dubious and lacked evidence, with no statements from DPRK state media itself to back the claim.

What has been confirmed since then, is a major deal by Moscow for the purchase of hundreds of Iranian-manufactured drones for use on the battlefield in Ukraine. There have since been reports that the drones have serious problems, and may not be functioning properly, making them less of a threat for Ukraine's defense systems to contend with.

Commenting on the new US intelligence alleging the North Korea weapons link, one anonymous US official told The Associated Press that it shows "the Russian military continues to suffer from severe supply shortages in Ukraine, due in part to export controls and sanctions."

What is clear is that North Korea has taken steps to demonstrate its approval of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, in July becoming the second outside country after Syria to recognize the independence of the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk republics.

There could be new sanctions repercussions for Pyongyang if it is caught exporting military equipment to Russia. "The North’s arms export to Russia would be a violation of U.N. resolutions that ban the country from exporting to or importing weapons from other countries," the AP writes.

Moscow accuses West of breaking ‘grain deal’ pledge

Unimpeded access for Russian food products to the world market has not been provided, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said

Western countries have not fulfilled their promise to lift sanctions on Russian grain and fertilizers to allow them reach world markets, the country’s foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, said on Tuesday.

The commitment was part of a deal brokered by the UN and Turkey and signed in Istanbul in July to unblock Ukraine’s grain exports and ease a looming global food crisis.

Lavrov stressed that “artificially inflated” Western claims that Russian actions in Ukraine had undermined the stability of the global food market are “absolutely not the case.”

“On the contrary, our Western colleagues are not doing what we were promised by the UN secretary general, namely, they are not making a decision to remove logistical sanctions that prevent free access of Russian grain and fertilizers to world markets,” the minister pointed out at a joint press conference with his Thai counterpart, Don Pramudwinai.

Lavrov added that Russia continues to work with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his team to ensure the organization fulfills its obligations under the Istanbul agreements.

Wheat deliveries from Ukraine, a major producer, were disrupted after Russia launched its military operation in the neighboring state in late February. The two sides traded accusations over who was responsible for the stoppage of cargo traffic out of Ukrainian ports. Since August 1, however, when shipments from the ports resumed, 92 vessels have departed, bringing more than 2 million tons of food goods to global markets.

Synthetic Embryo With Brain and Heart Formed Without Using Eggs or Sperm.

A synthetic embryo with cells capable of forming a brain and a beating heart was developed by researchers at the University of Cambridge using mouse stem cells. EuroNews described the effort as “yet another success in the unfolding race to develop embryos from human and mouse stem cells.”

The team, led by Professor Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz, developed the embryo model without using any eggs or sperm. The researchers used stem cells, specifically three types found in early mammalian development.

“By inducing the expression of a particular set of genes and establishing a unique environment for their interactions, the researchers were able to get the stem cells to ‘talk’ to each other,” explains a summary of the work.

“The stem cells self-organised into structures that progressed through the successive developmental stages until they had beating hearts and the foundations of the brain, as well as the yolk sac where the embryo develops and gets nutrients from in its first weeks.”

The synthetic embryo model developed by the Cambridge team is unique, as it reached a record level of development where the entire brain, including the anterior portion, began to develop.

The findings, which took researchers over a decade of work, could potentially be useful in understanding why some pregnancies fail along with developing synthetic organs for patients awaiting transplants.

The research also opens “new possibilities to study the mechanisms of neurodevelopment in an experimental model,” according to Zernicka-Goetz.

“In fact, we demonstrate the proof of this principle in the paper by knocking out a gene already known to be essential for formation of the neural tube, precursor of the nervous system, and for brain and eye development,” she continued.

“In the absence of this gene, the synthetic embryos show exactly the known defects in brain development as in an animal carrying this mutation. This means we can begin to apply this kind of approach to the many genes with unknown function in brain development.”

Writing at The Conversation, stem cell professor Megan Munsie observed:

In 2021, several teams managed to get human pluripotent stem cells (cells that can turn into any other type of cell) to self-aggregate in a Petri dish, mimicking the “blastocyst”. This is the earliest stage of embryonic development just before the complex process of implantation, when a mass of cells attach to the wall of the uterus.

Researchers using these human embryo models, often called blastoids, have even been able to start to explore implantation in a dish, but this process is much more challenging in humans than it is in mice.

In 2019, Science Alert reported on a “lab made human embryo” wherein they suggested “animal models can only go so far when it comes to pulling apart the complex mix of genetic and biochemical activity that turns a fertilised cell into a fully formed human.”s

All 10 Victims of Floatplane Crash Near Seattle Identified

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash.—The 10 people killed in a floatplane crash in the waters of Puget Sound over the weekend have been identified.

The U.S. Coast Guard released the names of the crash victims early Tuesday. The body of one of the dead was recovered by a good Samaritan after Sunday afternoon’s crash. The other nine remain missing despite an extensive search.

The Northwest Seaplanes flight was on its way from Friday Harbor, a popular tourist destination in the San Juan Islands, to a Seattle suburb when it went down without sending out a distress call.

The dead include pilot Jason Winters, activist Sandy Williams, winemaker Ross Andrew Mickel, his pregnant wife Lauren Hilty, and their child Remy Mickel. Also killed were passengers Joanne Mera, Patricia Hicks, Luke Ludwig, Rebecca Ludwig, and Gabrielle Hanna. The Coast Guard did not provide hometowns.

Mickel was the founder of Woodinville-based Ross Andrew Winery.

“We are deeply saddened and beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved Ross Mickel, Lauren Hilty, Remy and their unborn baby boy, Luca,” the Mickel and Hilty families said in a statement. “Our collective grief is unimaginable. They were a bright and shining light in the lives of everyone who knew them.”

The Washington State Wine Commission said in an email that Ross had “an incredible impact on the Washington wine community” and will be greatly missed.

Williams was a lecturer, filmmaker, founder of the Carl Maxey Center and editor of The Black Lens, an African American-focused newspaper.

Thayne McCulloh, president of Gonzaga University, said the community lost a leader, teacher, and activist.

“I am devastated to learn of Sandy Williams’ passing and we @GonzagaU extend our condolences to her family, many friends and colleagues,” he wrote on Twitter. “Sandy: Rest In Peace.”

Joanne Mera was a business owner from San Diego, The Seattle Times reported. Her niece, Sami Sullivan, said she was visiting family in Seattle when the crash occurred. She leaves behind three children and a husband of more than 30 years, Sullivan said.

“Joanne Mera was someone everyone gravitated towards,” Sullivan said in a statement. “She was the life of any party and the soul of our family. She was the best mom, wife, sister and friend.”
