The latest Exercise Joint Warrior, based at Faslane, will once again be one of the largest exercises in Europe

Running from April 21 to May 4, it aims to help NATO allies and partners to improve tactics in modern combat theatres.

A total of 39 naval units will take part, with many of them using maritime exercise areas off the west and northern coasts of Scotland.

Vessels from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK and the US will practise warfare against submarines, surface ships and aircraft.

The exercise has been planned by the Joint Tactical Exercise Planning Staff, from Northwood in London, who will be based at HM Naval Base Clyde to coordinate events during the fortnight.
