I make catalogs for high-end furniture for multiple vendors. If the furniture is good quality, and solid wood, then a solid wood cabinet really does cost $24,000-35,000 usd. I've seen those actual prices. So do the larger leather couches.
Solid wood kitchen cabinets are about twice the cost of pressed board these days. They are really expensive. Not sure but it's possible the US is running out of wood in areas where it's allowed to be cut down. This might be due to Clinton and Obama policies.
But the other info you found is pretty weird. But these high-priced cabinets make a great smoke scree for slaves.
p.s. There's a specialty market when making stuff out of old wood, over 100 years old, which has a slightly different grain, and that can cost double the cost of normal solid wood! The tree rings are generally small, and the grain is "tighter" from what I remember.
So using great craftsmanship, and 100 year old wood, a cabinet unit can go for $50,000 or more.
